?Chapter 1454:
“What is it?”
“You’re really sure about us?” Melvin’s voice lowered, his doubt slipping through for the first time. “You won’t regret it?”
“You know my answer.” She fired the words back at him without missing a beat.
She’d never realized before just how hesitant he could be.
“I’ll go change,” Melvin finally said.
“Change into what?” Jessica blinked at him, confused.
“Well, I’m meeting your parents, aren’t I? I should at least look presentable.” His gaze was clear and focused, showing exactly how seriously he was taking this.
“Fine. Go on.” Jessica waved him off.
Ten minutester, Melvin came back in a crisp formal suit.
“Change again,” Jessica said, fighting a smile.
Melvin looked down at himself, puzzled. “It doesn’t look good?”
“It looks great.” She leaned back, clearly entertained. “But you’re not meeting a business partner. You’re meeting my parents. There’s no deal to close here.”
Melvin paused, thinking it over.
“Just wear one of the two outfits I got youst time,” Jessica suggested. From a business perspective, Rnd might admire Melvin. But today wasn’t about boardrooms and titles; it was personal.
Her outfit today could match the clothes she had bought for him. Wearing matching outfits would make them feel warmer and more connected.
Another ten minutes passed, and Melvin returned in a casual set that made him look effortlessly put together.
He nced at her with hesitation. “Is this too casual? Do I look like I’m not taking it seriously?”
“Not at all.” Jessica’s gaze softened.
He could’ve worn a paper bag and still looked good. He was dangerously photogenic.

She stepped closer andced her fingers with his. “Let’s go.”
Melvin checked his reflection onest time before giving a small nod.
On the drive back, they made a quick stop at the mall. Melvin’s mission was clear: gifts for her parents. Jessica told him not to bother, but he insisted. He picked carefully, adding supplements and thoughtful presents to the basket.
Two hourster, they pulled up to Jessica’s family home.
The butler spotted them and immediately hurried inside. He practically slid into the living room. “Jessica just came back with Melvin Swain.”
“Are you sure?” Rnd asked, clearly not convinced.
“I’m sure.”
Rnd blinked like he’d misheard something.
He turned toward Lena, mischief creeping into his expression. “Our daughter already dragged Melvin home?”
“Drag?” Lena arched a brow. “Mind yournguage.”
