?Chapter 1453:
“Are you stupid?” Jessica flicked his forehead.
Melvin blinked, startled. “What was that for?”
“Do I look like someone who’d do something that stupid?” Jessica found his dumbfounded look strangely cute. She reached up again and gave his cheek a yful squeeze. “Even if I wanted to fool around, I wouldn’t drag the guy I like down with me.”
“What do you mean?” Melvin looked even more confused.
“Here. See for yourself.” Jessica pulled the marriage certificate from her bag and handed it to Melvin.
He nced at it and frowned. “What’s wrong with it?”
“Are you dense? Look at the signatures.” She tapped his forehead as if testing if there was anything inside. “And you’re supposed to be the leader of Anita International. Can’t even spot something this basic.”
“I only need perception at work to do a good job,” Melvin muttered under his breath.
Love and work didn’t operate by the same rules. Some people were experts in romance and absolute disasters at work. Others could dominate in business but turn clueless the moment feelings got involved. It wasn’t often that someone was good at both.
“You need perception in rtionships too,” Jessica said seriously. “Starting today, you need to learn to tell when I’m really mad and when I’m just faking it.”
“Got it,” Melvin said with a nod.
Jessica pinched his cheek. He’d better hope so. Otherwise, she’d teach him the hard way.
“Come meet my parents with me,” Jessica said, excitement glimmering in her eyes. “Then we’ll visit your folks in a few days.”
Melvin nced back at the certificate. “So this marriage certificate… is really fake?”
“Obviously.” Jessica gave him a t stare.
Melvin looked at her, his voice steady as always. “But back then, you really seemed like you wanted to marry him.”
Jessica smacked him on the head.
Melvin rubbed his hair. “What was that for?”
“You seriously have to ask?” She shot him a sharp re. “Don’t you know who I want to marry?”
A rare smile pulled at the corner of his mouth. He couldn’t help himself. Jessica hardly ever saw that look on him. She stared, caught for a second by how handsome he was when he let his guard down.
“Me,” Melvin said softly.
“Good. d you know it,” Jessica replied, folding her arms across her chest. “Jack had someone create a fake certificate.”<fn1e73> Official source is f?ndnovel</fn1e73>
Melvin gave a light hum in response.
“Come home with me.” Jessica reached out and took his hand.
He stayed rooted where he stood. “Wait.”
