?Chapter 1451:
It took Melvin over an hour to bring Jessica to his home.
Standing in his living room again stirred up a mess of emotions inside her. She really wanted a home with him.
“Have a seat.” Melvin offered her a ss of orange juice, his movements slow and careful.
Jessica sat on the sofa, casual on the outside but full of nervous anticipation. “Just say what you want to say.”
“You’ve always wanted to know why I turned you down, haven’t you?” Melvin said, summoning every ounce of courage he had left.
Jessica nodded lightly, but her heart thudded hard against her chest.
“The biggest reason is… my family,” Melvin finally confessed.
Over the next hour, heid it all out—the ugly parts, the fear, the worry.
He didn’t know what choice she would make, but she deserved the truth. He couldn’t stand the thought of watching her drift through life without knowing why he had pushed her away.
“That’s everything I’ve been carrying,” Melvin finished, his tone still uneasy. “If you still want to be with me, I’ll wait until your things with Jack are sorted out. If not, I won’t force it. But I hope you’ll stop treating your life like a joke.”
Jessica stared at him. “Are you an idiot?”
Melvin froze, confused. “What?”
“I don’t care about any of that. Neither do my parents,” Jessica said, folding her arms. “I don’t care about your background, as long as we’re not on the streets begging.”
She was telling the truth. His family history didn’t mean a thing to her.
“We’ll never end up like that,” Melvin replied, his voice steady. “Life with me will only be better than before.”
“Then why are you overthinking everything?” Jessica felt ridiculous for being rejected over something so small. “Do you think my social circle is full of judgmental snobs?”
“What…” Melvin looked genuinely lost now.

“Your story is impressive. You came from nothing and built yourself into the head of a listedpany,” Jessica said, sincerity shining in her eyes. “That’s the kind of sess people admire anywhere.”
“But…” Melvin hesitated, still stuck on the what-ifs.
“But nothing.” Jessica shot him a re. “Honestly, I should be ttered that I get to date you.”<fn3d5a> For more chapters visit find{n}ovel</fn3d5a>
Melvin stared at her,pletely thrown.
“Anita International’s worth more than our wholepany,” Jessica continued, her voice calm and clear. “The dividends you get from it every year are more than our entire business earns in five.”
She gave him a look like she couldn’t believe how thick-headed he was. For someone so smart, he sure could be hopeless.
Melvin hadn’t expected her to brush his worries off like this. Even now, his heart twisted ufortably. “You… really don’t care?”
