?Chapter 1384:
“What is it?” he asked, ncing at her briefly.
“Do you have some kind of weird talent or something?” Her voice took on a half-serious tone. “Like… I don’t know, hypnotizing people through the phone? Or charming them into liking you in five seconds t?”
Melvin lookedpletely baffled. He had no clue what she was getting at.
Just as she opened her mouth to exin, her phone buzzed twice in her hand.
A message popped up from Rnd. “The person you’re after is Melvin Swain?”
She stared at it for a second, then typed out a in and honest reply: “Yes.”
“Then you’d better put some real effort in. From what I know, he’s the type who pours all his time into work and has never dated. Winning him over won’t be a walk in the park.”
Jessica went still as she read the message.
She nced at Melvin, sitting beside her behind the wheel, calm as ever. “So you’re not against it anymore?”
“Why would I be? If Melvin ends up being my son-inw, I’d be more than happy.”
Jessica stared at the screen, absently rubbing her thumb across the edge of the phone. She hadn’t seen thating at all.
Rnd followed up a secondter, “I won’t get in your way. Take your time and go after him properly.”
Jessica replied with a simple “Okay.” Then she set the phone down in herp.
As her thoughts turned over her father’s reaction, she couldn’t help but nce sideways at the man sitting beside her. His profile was practically sculpted—too perfect, really—and she found herself wondering just what it was that had impressed her dad so much.
Melvin caught her staring and asked while keeping his eyes on the road, “What?”
“My dad just said something to me.” She kept her tone light, curious to see how he’d respond.
“What’d he say?” Melvin asked.<fna229> Discover more novels at Find?Novel</fna229>

“He said he wants you to be his son-inw.” Her eyes stayed fixed on his face, watching for any shift in expression. “What do you think?”
“That’s something you’ve got to ask yourself.” Melvin stayed cool, not reading too deeply into it. “It’s whoever you like that gets to be his son-inw, not me.”
“What if I told you I’m in love with you?” Jessica said, her tone light and teasing, a yful glimmer dancing in her clear eyes. “Would you consider bing my husband?”
Melvin paused, looking genuinely stunned for a moment, caught off guard.
Noticing his reaction, Jessica let out a soft chuckle and quickly brushed it off. “Rx, I’m just messing with you. Look at your face.”
“Jessica,” Melvin said her name evenly.
She was casually scrolling through her phone in the passenger seat. “Hmm?”
“Some people tie the knot just because their families pressure them, or they feel like they’ve reached the right age,” he said, eyes on the road, choosing his words carefully. “But I really hope you marry a man because you actually love him.”
“Why’s that?” she asked, her curiosity genuine.
