?Chapter 1372:
Come Tuesday, she made ns to meet her friend for a bit of retail therapy.
They wandered around the mall for hours, and Jessica snagged a few outfits—some for herself, others for Melvin. By the time they were done, their legs were sore and their arms were full, so they decided to grab a bite to eat.
They had barely sat down and hadn’t even ordered yet when someone annoying showed up.
It was Jack Bowman, that pompous man she’d once met on a blind date.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Miss Prescott,” Jack smirked as he sauntered over, his pack of rowdy buddies trailing behind him. They all looked like they owned the ce. “Out grabbing a meal, huh?”
Jessica couldn’t even be bothered to acknowledge him.
Jack plopped himself down beside her, crowding her toward the window. “No need to be so cold. We’ve had a meal together before, remember?”
“Move,” Jessica said sharply, her tone as frosty as her expression.
“And what if I don’t?” Jack shot back with a mocking grin.
Jessica narrowed her eyes at him.
He leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other like he had all the time in the world. “I heard you haven’t been staying at hometely.”
“What’s that got to do with you?” she snapped, his presence grating on her nerves like a buzzing mosquito. “Get out of here, or I’m calling security.”
“Go ahead,” he dared her smugly. “Let’s see if anyone actually listens.”
Jessica hesitated, and in that instant, she realized the problem. This ce probably belonged to Jack or one of his obnoxious friends. How infuriating.
“I just don’t understand it. Why turn me down? We could make a perfect match,” Jack said as he leaned closer, his attitudepletely nonchnt.
Jessica’s appetite vanished. She grabbed her bags and nodded to her friend that it was time to leave.
She fixed her re on Jack, who was now blocking her path, and said in a firm voice, “Move.”

“What if I don’t? What can you do?” Jack sneered, still trying to provoke her.
Her patience snapped—she kicked him, hard. The impact knocked him off bnce, sending him stumbling backward.
Spoiled his whole life, Jack couldn’t handle being embarrassed like that. He barked at his friends, “Stop her!”
In an instant, his cronies encircled Jessica and her friend.
Jessica scanned the room, her expression calm and steady. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“No one gets away with kicking me,” Jack growled.
“Want me to call your dad right now?” Jessica asked, fearless. She knew exactly what kind of man Jack’s father was—and that he’d be furious if he knew what his son was up to. Her disdain was written all over her face. “If he finds out you’re still pulling this kind of stunt, you can kiss your inheritance goodbye.”
Jack’s face turned red with fury.
“I only agreed to that blind date because of the friendship between our fathers,” Jessica said, her tone nothing like the warm one she used with Melvin. “If you push me any further, I’ll tell your dad everything you’ve been doing.”
