Chapter 1367

    ?Chapter 1367:

“Well, there’s something I’d like your help with right now.” Jessica started rubbing her fingers together as if summoning courage.

Melvin met her gaze. “What do you need?”

    “I want to kiss you.”

Nothing could have prepared Melvin for that.

“Would you mind helping me out with that?” Jessica’s eyes sparkled.

Melvin hesitated more than usual. Hisposure slipped for a second, and a trace of feeling flickered in his cool stare. “Why do you keep wanting to kiss me?”

“I just want to know what a kiss is like.” Jessica’s eyes stayed on him, searching his face for any sign of what he felt. “If you don’t want to, that’s fine with me. I won’t push it.”

When she finished, her gaze dropped to herp, making her seem suddenly small and lonely. A look of quiet sadness settled on her face. The sight struck Melvin harder than he expected. His resolve softened, and all at once, his cool exterior melted away.

    “All right.”

A little stunned, she asked, “You mean it?”

“You can go ahead and kiss me.” Melvin nodded, though his hand had started to sweat. “Just on the cheek, though.”

    “Are you certain about this?”

    “I am.”

    “Truly?”

A bright grin spread across her face.

Drawing a little closer, she kept her gaze locked on him, her eyes shining with mischief as she teased him with the growing closeness but paused just before making a move. “All right, I’ll kiss you now.”

Unaware, Melvin’s fingers dug into the sofa cushion, his breath held tight as tension gripped him.

Seconds crawled past. His pulse thundered in his ears while she hovered there. When the wait became too much, he turned toward her, wanting to say something. “You…”

    Then, their lips brushed together.

Every muscle in his body locked up. He sat frozen in ce.

Jessica couldn’t believe it either—she hadn’t expected him to turn just as she leaned in.

“I didn’t peg you as the type, Melvin.” Her cheeks flushed red, but she did her best to appearposed, speaking with a straight face. “If you wanted a kiss on the lips, you could’ve just told me instead of trying to be clever.”

“I really didn’t mean to,” Melvin answered quickly. All he meant to do was turn and ask her a question. A kiss hadn’t even crossed his mind at that exact second.

    Inside, Jessica’s chest fluttered, but she kept her cool. “Sure. I believe you.”<fn93c8> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? find?novel</fn93c8>

“You sound doubtful,” Melvin replied, sensing there was more beneath her words.
