?Chapter 1363:
A glint of mischief shed in Freya’s tone. “Alright, I’ll talk to Melvin about thosepany policies soon. If there’s any way to get that rule removed, I’ll look into it. Just be patient for a little while.”
The relief in Jessica’s voice was obvious. “Thank you so much!”
Freya offered a word of caution. “You know, Melvin can be really stubborn. If you’re serious about chasing him, you might have to get creative.”
A smile tugged at Jessica’s lips. “Understood.”
Once the call ended, Jessica finally let herself rx. Freya had always been someone she could rely on, and her uncle Jacob was always singing her praises.
Feeling a bit lighter, she finished her meal. When Melvin saw that she seemed back to normal, he switched gears. “Briggs Group, Seymour Group, and a few other toppanies are options. If any of them interest you, just let me know. I’ll set up an interview.”
“There’s no need to rush,” Jessica assured him with a smile, still hoping for a spot at Anita International.
That left Melvin confused. Why was she suddenly changing her mind?<fn4c93> Chapters first released on </fn4c93>
“I’ve been doing nothing but overtimetely, and it’s worn me out.” Jessica tried to sound convincing. “Now that I’ve finally resigned, I just want a couple of weeks to rx before jumping into another job.”
After a brief pause, Melvin nodded. “Alright, that’s reasonable.”
Jessica turned to him, a hint of excitement in her voice. “You’re taking me shopping tomorrow. It’s your debut as my boyfriend, after all.”
Melvin almost objected, thinking of the mountain of tasks waiting for him.
Before he could get a word out, she cut him off. “Don’t even try backing out. You agreed to be my boyfriend today. That means tomorrow, you’reing with me.”
“But there’s so much work…”
“We’ll take care of business after we’ve had some fun.”
“But—”

“But what, exactly?” Jessica leaned in, giving him a yful re.
Melvin gave in right away. For some reason, every time she took charge, he ended up agreeing, no matter what he had nned.
Even though Freya usuallymanded the room, she still deferred to him—yet with Jessica, things were different.
Jessica shed him a confident smile. “Rx, I’m good at what I do. Even if your work gets pushed back, I can help you catch up when we get back.”
Melvin pressed his lips together, hesitating for a moment before nodding. He had faith in her skills, but deep down, he decided he would handle things on his own.
After the meal, Jessica moved to clear the table, but Melvin stepped in and insisted on taking over.
From the doorway, she watched him bustling around the kitchen, her heart light and content.
“Melvin.”
“What is it?”
