Chapter 1351

    ?Chapter 1351:

    Melvin gave a quiet nod.

With their conversation over, Melvin headed back to his own room on the floor below.

If Freya was the beacon that lit his way forward, then Jessica was the steady, loyal presence walking right beside him. She was three years younger than him and Gerard—having skipped two grades in elementary school and one in middle school, she had been the youngest in their ss.

After graduation, the boys went off to Alerith University while she studied abroad. Over the years, they had crossed paths now and then, but their hectic lives always pulled them apart.

Her sudden appearance this time had definitely caught him off guard.

Once Melvin was gone, Jessica pulled out her phone and shot her dad, Rnd Prescott, a message. “I’m quitting next week.”

Rnd replied with a string of question marks. He didn’t bother texting a second time—he called her immediately.

The second Jessica picked up, Rnd’s stern voice thundered from the other end. “What was that message you just sent me supposed to mean?”

“I found a new job,” Jessica answered without flinching.

“What job?” Rnd nearly shouted. “You’ve got a wholepany to run! Don’t you care about taking over my business?”

    “Not really.” Jessica soundedpletely indifferent.

Rnd nearly had a stroke. What kind of answer was that? This was their family business!

His tone dropped a few decibels as he tried reasoning with her. “Tell me honestly—is the pay too low? Not enough vacation? Whatever it is, I’ll fix it.”

“Didn’t you say I should get a boyfriend?” Jessica shot back casually.

    Rnd paused. “You found someone?”

“I’ve got a target. But I need to quit if I want to go after him.” Jessica thought of Melvin’s calm, reserved face, and the corners of her lips curved upward. “He’s slow to open up and doesn’t talk much. So I’ll have to take the lead.”

Rnd frowned. “Is this guy even reliable?”<fn5f33> Th?s chapter is updated by f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fn5f33>

    “Absolutely,” Jessica said confidently.

“What’s his name? Where’s he from? Where does he work?” Rnd was already in full dad-interrogation mode. “Send me his details. I’m running a background check.”

Jessica refused without hesitation. “I’ll bring him home once I win him over.”

“Absolutely not. Let me run a background check first.” Rnd’s heart was heavy with worry for his beloved daughter.

“Don’t fret; I know him well,” Jessica said, a smile dancing on her lips at the thought of Melvin. “We go way back—even to our school days.”

    “Elementary school?”

    “Not quite.”

    “College?”
