Chapter 1330

    Chapter 1330:

“Her team’s here,” Ellis replied on Freya’s behalf. “She cares about her squad.”

“Then give me the whole squad. Take anyone from my team you want in return.” Marlon was clearly eager to snap up the talent.

    Ellis still turned him down.

Marlon had no choice but toy his cards on the table. “Fine. Then at least lend them to me for a few days. The opposing team’s been provoking us, and I need to protect this unit’s reputation.”

“Which team?” Ellis asked, his tone light, almost offhanded.

“Who else could it be?” Marlon flopped down beside him, speaking with casual irritation. “Brady Russell—the guy who’s made a habit of snatching our people.”

“I’ll talk to Freya after training,” Ellis replied, his deep voice carrying a careless ease. “You decide the time.”

“How about the day after your training wraps up?” Marlon suggested, eager to settle scores. “You wouldn’t believe how brazen he’s gotten. He stole our people and still has the nerve to parade around like he owns the ce.”

“Once they join his team, their loyalty naturally shifts to him,” Ellis said, unbothered as ever. “Convincing them to leave in the first ce takes real skill.”

Marlon was at a loss for words. Ellis always knew how to jab right where it stung the most.

“Ahem.” He cleared his throat. “What if he tries to poach someone from your team this time?”

“Have you ever seen anyone manage to take someone from me?” Ellis answered coolly, his words cutting through the air like a de.

Marlon fell silent again. Forget it. Ellis was unpredictable. Ask him for a favor and you’d likely lose more than you gained.

“Let’s raise the stakes for thispetition,” Ellis saidzily, a glint shing through his eyes. “Make them pay dearly.”

“You trust your team that much?” Marlon asked, one eyebrow arching. He hadn’t yet seen Freya at her best, and thestpetition with the security team had been a sneak attack. “What if she loses? Wouldn’t we be the ones taking the hit?”

Ellis’s eyes curved with a faint smirk. “She won’t lose.”

Marlon exchanged a nce with Michael, both slightly stunned.

“Since you’re that confident, I’ll go handle negotiations,” Marlon said, trusting Ellis’s call. “I’ll try to win back what we lostst time.”

    Ellis gave a nod.

“So does this mean I’m off the hook for my spar with Ellis?” Michael suddenly chimed in, eyes bright with hope.

Marlon stood, patted him on the shoulder with a knowing smile, and said, “Keep dreaming.”

Michael was crushed. His heart sank to his shoes.

After Marlon left, Michael turned to Ellis, trying to bargain. “You’re not really going to make me survive in the wild for a whole week, right?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Ellis shot back.

“Come on, we’ve been friends for years. That’s gotta count for something more than just a win or loss, doesn’t it?” Michael nudged him yfully, trying to soften him up. “How about you go easy on me? Let’s call it a draw.”
