?Chapter 1283:
The next morning, just after seven, the doorbell rang.
n stepped out and spotted a boy standing at the gate—about Jesse’s height. He recognized him instantly.
“Jerome?”
He quickly unlocked the gate and noticed the small cake in Jerome’s hands.
“What brings you here so early?”
“I came to see Nina,” Jerome said, his voice soft and a little shy.
n nced around. “Did youe by yourself?”
“Yeah.” Jerome nodded.
n’s head filled with questions. Jerome’s house was pretty far from theirs. How had a kid managed to make it here all alone?
“Nina’s still having breakfast,” n said, taking his hand and leading him in. “You haven’t eaten yet, right? Come have something.”
As they stepped into the house, Nina heard the voices and came running. The moment her eyesnded on Jerome, her entire face lit up, and she raced toward him.
“Jerome!”
Jesse trailed behind Nina, at aplete loss for words. Didn’t she just say she was done with Jerome? And now, look at her—practically sprinting back to him.<fn15d0> Newest update provided by FιndNovel</fn15d0>
“Jerome? What are you doing here so early?” Nina’s wide, sparkling eyes practically glowed with delight. “Did youe just to see me?”
“Yeah,” Jerome murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. He clearly had no idea how to exin himself.
He reached out and offered her the cake, his tone gentle as always. “I made this with my mom. It’s an apology… I shouldn’t have pressured you like that the other day.”
“I forgive you,” Nina said brightly, beaming as she took the treat with delight. She wasted no time tugging him inside so they could eat breakfast together.
Once breakfast was over, Nina’s full attention zoned in on the cake.
