?Chapter 1263:
The tension was obvious. Anyone could tell—Jerome didn’t like him.
Kevin told his assistant to wait outside, then walked in with a folder in hand.
He approached the table. “I thought we agreed this would be just the two of us,” Kevin said, looking at Jesse and Nina. His tone was even, but something in his eyes gave away his annoyance. “Why are they here?”
Jerome didn’t flinch. “So you can bring an assistant, but I can’t bring friends?” Jerome’s voice was quiet, but his tone was sharp.
Kevin sat down. In his perfectly tailored suit, he gave off a cold, unapproachable aura.
But Nina and Jesse were used to men like Ellis, Trent, and n. That kind of presence didn’t faze them at all.
“Friends are fine,” Kevin said evenly, though there was a chill in his tone. “But I don’t want anyone other than your two friends hearing what I’m about to say.”
Jesse caught the implication right away and replied calmly, “Don’t worry. My uncle’s not here.”
That one line made Kevin look at him more carefully. Last time, Jesse hadn’t said much—Kevin had assumed he was just an average kid. Now, he wasn’t so sure.
“Not being here doesn’t mean you won’t tell him about this meeting,” Kevin said slowly, watching Jesse closely. It was a test—and he was waiting to see how Jesse would respond.
Nina’s brows pulled together, a deep frown etched across her cute face. Kevin’s words displeased her.
Jerome caught her look. His cherubic face turned serious as he turned to Kevin. “They won’t say anything.”
“And how am I supposed to take your word for that?” Kevin shot back, clearly trying to be difficult.
Jesse suddenly piped up. “You want us to sign a confidentiality agreement or something?”
Anyone who knew Jesse would’ve caught the sarcasm in that. He was four. Everyone knew a kid signing anything meant squat legally.<fne8cd> ???? ????s? ???????s ?? Find★Novel</fne8cd>

Jesse knew it too—and so did Kevin.
Kevin narrowed his eyes. “You’re too young for anything you sign to hold up in court.”
Right after he said that, the room shifted. Jesse, Nina, and Jerome all turned to look at him.
Jesse pointed toward the door, his big, bright eyes cold and sharp. “It’s over there,” he said tly. “You can leave whenever you want.”
Kevin was momentarily speechless. Was this boy really just four?
“If you’re so worried about it, then forget it,” Jerome added coolly. “I’ve got stuff to do this afternoon. I’m not wasting any more time here.”
Kevin’s jaw tightened. “You and Jasper areing back with me.” He spoke slowly, as if making sure they heard every word. “I’ll give you the best resources. You’ll livefortably and have everything you need.”
“I already said no,” Jerome answered tly.
Kevin’s gaze didn’t waver. “I wasn’t done.”
