Chapter 1258

    ?Chapter 1258:

“Trent Seymour doesn’t have time for this kind of thing,” Kevin said, testing his luck. “He won’t get involved.”

n raised a brow. “Then I guess we’ll find out in court—won’t we?”

Kevin faltered. He looked at Donna, then back at n. “Even if you could get him,” Kevin tried again, “she couldn’t afford him. Do you have any idea what that man charges?”

No one guaranteed a win in court, except Trent. He was the kind ofwyer people hired when they had no shot left—and still walked out winning. That kind of reputation didn’te cheap.

Nina piped up sweetly, her tone matter-of-fact. “If I tell Uncle Trent that Jerome’s my friend, he’ll only charge one dor.”

Kevin turned slowly, staring at her. This little girl didn’t lie. She didn’t need to.

And suddenly, he wasn’t so sure n was bluffing after all. “You seriously want to help her?” Kevin asked n, onest time.

    n nodded, determined.

    Kevin didn’t say another word.

He just pulled out his phone, typed something, and hit send. “If you want your friends and family to lose their jobs, then go ahead and keep letting n help you.”

Donna’s phone buzzed. She nced at the screen—and froze. Her hand tightened around the phone.

Jerome noticed. He walked over, tugged gently on her sleeve, and looked up.

“Mom… is he threatening you again?”

Donna forced a small smile. “No, sweetie. It’s nothing.”

Nina’s eyes widened. “What do you mean, threatening?”

Jerome looked down, then said quietly, “Last time one of Mommy’s friends defended her—told him off—and he got her fired.” His voice was soft, but his face said everything. He didn’t like Kevin. Not one bit.

“It’s okay,” Nina said gently. “If she lost her job, she cane work at my uncle’spany. He’s got lots of positions for her.”<fn1422> Chapters first released on Find★Novel</fn1422>

Even Jesse gave a quiet, almost imperceptible nod.

n looked at Donna, who was clearly torn. So he stepped in, his voice calm and certain. “The Briggs Group is always hiring,” he said. “And if we don’t have the right fit, one of our subsidiaries…”

“Most importantly,” n added, his voice calm but firm, “once anyone joins the Briggs Group, Kevin Wilson won’t be able to touch them.” He was offering Donna a way out—an escape from all the pressure and control.

Normally, he didn’t interfere in other people’s business. He liked ying the hero now and then, sure, but he didn’t involve himself in every mess he came across.

This time was different. Nina liked Jerome. Really liked him. And that was reason enough for n to step in.

Across the room, Kevin’s grip on his phone tightened. For what felt like the hundredth time that day, he was ready to punch n right in the face. But he didn’t say a word. He just shot Donna onest cold look, then turned and walked out.

The moment he left, the tension in the room lifted as if a heavy curtain had been pulled back.
