?Chapter 1251:
As she spoke, she reached out and pulled Jerome along with her.
Jerome wanted to stay and talk to Jesse a little more, but Nina’s grip was strong and determined. He had no choice but to go with her.
Jesse stood there, watching them walk away, their small hands sped together. A tight line formed between his brows.
n noticed Jesse’s expression and understood exactly how he felt in that moment.
Strangely, n could rte. It felt like Nina was being pulled out of his reach.
“Why don’t you go over and join them?” n asked gently after a moment of silence.
“No,” Jesse said, keeping his voice steady. “After today, she’ll realize her brother is still the best.”
It was just one day. Just a ymate. Not someone who would be there all the time. So there was no need to be upset.
n nced over at Nina and Jerome, ughing and running around together. He hesitated, then asked, “You’re sure about that?”
“Yes,” Jesse answered without a second thought, sounding more confident than he felt.
He really believed he could take it. But he had overestimated himself.
When lunchtime came around, Nina didn’t sit next to him. Instead, she plopped down beside Jerome with a cheerful smile.
Jesse’s brow twitched, and his voice came out a little sharper than he intended. “Nina,e here.”
“I’ll sit right here,” Nina giggled, sliding into the seat beside Jerome. “I can help him.”<fn0b94> N?w ?ovel chapt?rs are published on find[f]ovel</fn0b94>
Jesse blinked. Wait—her? Helping someone else at the table? Wasn’t she usually the one needing help with her meal?
But sure enough, Nina proved she meant it.
“Jerome, try this one—it’s really good,” she said, happily dropping a few pieces into Jerome’s bowl. “And this one too! You’ll like it!”

Jerome looked a little overwhelmed. “I can’t eat that much.”
He wasn’t used to this. He’d always been the kind of kid to do everything himself. He always served his own food and handled things on his own. Having someone fawn over him like this? Totally new territory.
“It’s okay,” Nina said, her tone calm and reassuring. “If you’re full, just leave it.” Jerome gave up resisting and just focused on eating.
Meanwhile, Nina barely touched her own food. Her eyes stayed on Jerome the entire meal, making sure he had what he needed. By the time everyone else was wrapping up, she’d only taken a few bites herself. But she didn’t seem the least bit hungry.
After the meal, she turned to Jerome again. “Do you want to take a nap? You can use my room. It’s super cozy.”
Jesse’s fork froze midair. That? That was where he drew the line. He could ignore everything else, but not this one.
“You can use my room,” Jesse cut in smoothly, his voice steady as ever. “Come on, I’ll show you.”
