?Chapter 1108:
The thought made her tense. She started collecting her things. “Do you know when he’s leaving?”
“Not sure, but definitely not in the next day or two,” n said—then caught himself. That sounded like he was leaking Ellis’s schedule. “Why? nning to meet him?”
“No.” Freya pressed her lips together, eyes distant. “Can you do me a favor?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“Have someone keep an eye on him for the next few days. Let me know in advance if I’m about to run into him.”
n waspletely thrown off. Why did she want that?
If she weren’t his family, he might’ve thought she was plotting something shady.
“I’ve got something going on that he can’t know about. Just help me keep tabs on him,” Freya said, negotiating like a pro. “Once it’s done, I’ll help you out with some of the work at Briggs Group.”
“You cheated on him?” n blurted out before he could stop himself.
“Ahem.” He cleared his throat and quickly walked it back. “I mean, why are you so afraid to run into him? It’s not like you’ve done anything to feel guilty about.”
“I want to surprise him. He can’t find out yet.” Freya gave him a more eptable reason.
n only grew more confused. What kind of surprise required this much effort and secrecy? Freya even went so far as to volunteer to handle work at the Briggs Group for him.
Noticing his gaze fixed on her, Freya pressed again, “Are you going to agree or not?”
“Not until you tell me what exactly this surprise is,” n replied, cautious. “What if it ends up being more of a shock to Ellis than a surprise?”

“It won’t be anything like that.”
“Then just exin it to me first.” n’s tone was firmer than usual.
Freya was momentarily quiet, and her countenance suddenly changed.
“I can’t agree unless I know what you’re nning,” n added. Under normal circumstances, he would’ve trusted her without question. But this wasn’t just any request.
The very fact that she had attached such a condition meant this wasn’t something to take lightly.
“I’ll tell you,” Freya said, watching him closely. She knew how he tended to blow things out of proportion. “But you have to swear you won’t tell a soul. This has to stay strictly between us.”
“Deal,” n agreed without hesitation.
Freya finally shared her n. “I’m going to propose to Ellis.”
For a second, n couldn’t process what he’d heard. His expression twisted in disbelief, as if she’d just said somethingpletely outrageous.
“Propose?!”
“Yes,” she immediately confirmed.
“Propose to Ellis?!”
“You heard me.”
“Isn’t it usually the dude’s job to pop the question?” n blurted out, utterly baffled. “Why not let Ellis do it? Why would you think of doing it yourself?”
“Women can pop the question too!” Freya shot back firmly. “I want him to be sure that the life I’m building has a ce for him in it.”
n was stunned into silence. What in the world was happening? Ellis was preparing engagement rings, and now Freya was nning to propose too? Did they really have to be this perfectly in sync?
“You don’t have to go that far. He already knows how much he matters to you from all the little things you do every single day,” n said, trying to talk her out of it. To him, proposing was a man’s duty. It was his way of expressing his desire to build a life with the woman he loved—to create a home together, to protect her, and to cherish her.
“I’ve made my decision,” Freya said, her eyes shining with resolve.
