Chapter 1103

    ?Chapter 1103:

Their back-and-forth was so natural, Ellis couldn’t find a single crack.

“We’ll go over the rest in the car,” Melvin said, snapping hisptop shut. “If we don’t leave now, we’ll miss the flight.”

    “Right,” Freya nodded.

Melvin went to grab her suitcase.

Ellis’s eyes lingered on her a moment longer, watching the two of them move like clockwork.

Freya stepped closer, gave him a quick hug. “I gotta go. I’ll call you when I’m back.”

“Alright,” Ellis said simply, making no move to stop her.

He had his own trip to get ready for anyway.

Once Freya and Melvin had left, Ellis made a call and told someone to book him a flight abroad.

Meanwhile, Freya finally rxed as the car pulled out of the Freeplex. The tension she’d been holding onto all morning faded.

“Are you scared of Ellis?” Melvin asked bluntly.

“No,” Freya replied, sitting beside him in the back seat while a driver kept his eyes on the road. “I just like messing with him a bit. Keeps things fun. Helps us connect.”

Melvin stayed quiet. He didn’t buy it for a second. She was definitely scared of Ellis—at least a little.

“He probably already knows you lied,” Melvin said, giving her a heads-up. “What’s your n if he confronts you?”

Freya didn’t seem fazed. “Let him suspect. As long as he doesn’t have hard proof, he can’t do anything. He isn’t the type to act unless he’s sure.”

Something still didn’t sit right with Melvin, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. So, he let it go.

A little whileter, as they got further out of the city, Melvin spoke up again. “Once we’re outside city limits, I’ll cancel your flight and arrange a car to take you wherever you need to go.”

“No need,” Freya said without hesitation. “I’m leaving with you.”

Melvin actually was heading out for a business trip.

Freya had only made her n after finding that out. Last night, when she saw what Ellis had bought, she messaged Melvin and told him to pick her up if she hadn’t called him by 9 a.m.

Melvin still wasn’t sure what was going on. “Did you two fight or something?” he asked.

New couples usually couldn’t get enough of each other.

Why would she be running off on a trip?

“No fight,” Freya said, straightforward as ever. “The engagement rings I ordered are almost done. I want to see them in person, make sure they’re exactly how I imagined.”

Melvin nodded, a bit more at ease. He didn’t say anything about her n to propose. As long as she was happy, that was what mattered.

After a moment of silence, he suddenly said, “Can I ask you something?”

    “Shoot.”

“What would you do if you saw Ellis with another woman?”

Freya didn’t even blink. “I’d walk over and see what they were talking about. If it’s work, I’d let them finish. If it’s something shady, I’d still wait until they were done before I asked him about it.”

She wasn’t the type to jump to conclusions or stir up drama without facts. That just wasn’t her.
