Chapter 1162

    ?Chapter 1162:

After pressing send, he slipped his phone into his pocket and turned to find Yvonne staring at him in a daze.

The innocent, fragile look on her face only intensified his fury toward Alexis and Katrina.

In just two days, his lively, adorable wife had been reduced to this small and helpless figure—and it had happened while he was away on a business trip.

Unable to help himself, he pulled out his phone again and sent Leif another message. Give those two a taste of their own medicine. Everything they did to Yvonne, return it to them double.

Satisfied, he walked back to the bed and caressed Yvonne’s cheek. “Rest. You have nothing to worry about.”

She smiled and nodded. “What do I have to worry about with you here?”

A few momentster, Z arrived with a lunchbox. Norton carefully selected the lighter dishes and set them down in front of Yvonne. But she simply stared at them with obvious reluctance.

“What’s wrong?” Norton asked. “Do you prefer to eat something else?”

Yvonne shook her head. “I don’t have an appetite.”

Norton clicked his tongue. “You need to eat a little, or how are you going to recover?”

Hearing that, she gingerly picked up the spoon and took two sips of the soup before setting it down again.

He took over, picking up the bowl and spoon. Hedled the soup, blew on it, and brought it to her lips.

Moved by his tender care, she waspelled to sip the soup, spoonful by slow spoonful.

She was halfway through the bowl when she pulled back and shook her head. “I can’t eat anymore.”

“All right. Get some rest.” At least she had eaten something. He felt reassured, if only a little.

Norton felt a sharp ache in his chest as he watched Yvonne curl up quietly. He reached for the remote and turned on the television for her.

“Shouldn’t you be at work?” Yvonne asked, her voice soft but concerned as she nced at him.

He settled beside her, showing no sign of leaving. “Don’t you want me to apany you?” he asked with a teasing smile.

She nodded at first, but after a moment’s thought, she shook her head, changing her mind. “I can handle things on my own. You don’t need to skip work because of me.”

Norton sighed inwardly, knowing how thoughtful and fiercely independent she was—sometimes to a fault.

“Just watch TV, dear,” he said gently, his eyes darkening as he silently condemned Horizon Entertainment to ruin.

They sat together, the TV casting flickering shadows, until his phone suddenly rang. He nced at Yvonne but declined the call. Hearing the ringtone, she smiled. “You should take it.”

He nodded and stepped outside to answer.
