Chapter 1139

    ?Chapter 1139:

Yvonne jolted back to the present, suddenly aware of just how much he had changedtely. Outside of work, he barely left her side. Even now, he had insisted on apanying her shopping.

Without another word, Norton stepped out first, opened the car door, and offered her his hand.

Yvonne’s lips curled into a faint smile. Ever since his jealous streak had surfaced that day, he had grown noticeably more tender and attentive. And truth be told, she liked it more than she cared to admit.

Stepping out of the car, she reached for his hand without hesitation.

Norton returned the gesture with a gentle squeeze, the tension in his face easing. Even so, his eyes swept their surroundings, alert for anything—or anyone—out of ce.

Just a short distance away, Heidi strolled past, feigning nonchnce. Herst attempt to smear Yvonne’s name had inexplicably failed. Now she needed a new angle.

She had been shadowing Yvonne for days, waiting to capture damning photos of her with the man at her side. Yet the longer she watched, the more the man’s face stirred a sense of familiarity.

It wasn’t until she did a background check that the truth hit her—hard. That man was Norton Burke.

At the revtion, Heidi’s jaw tensed. Shelly—deceitful and maniptive—had set her up, sending her after Yvonne without revealing that Yvonne was involved with Norton.

That petty scheme had cost Heidi her job.

Anyone with half a brain could see Norton genuinely cared for Yvonne. Now, paralyzed by fear of what Norton might do, Heidi continued her surveince with greater care, hoping to finally catch something worthwhile. But the perfect shot had always eluded her—until today. She had managed to tail them to the mall.

Disguised in a janitor’s uniform, she swept near their path, pretending to clean while leaning in to catch snippets of their conversation and sneak nces at the pair.

“Whatever you like, it’s yours. I’ll cover everything,” Norton said, watching Yvonne’s bubbling excitement with unmistakable fondness.

With work and health issues consuming her timetely, Yvonne hadn’t been able to enjoy something as simple as shopping. So today’s outing felt like a treat. Norton’s words only lifted her spirits further.

“Seriously? You’re amazing!” she said, clutching his arm excitedly.

“When have I ever treated you any less?” he teased, giving her cheek a yful pinch and leaning in close to whisper.

She ducked away from his breath, flustered. “Stop that—people are watching.”

A softugh escaped Norton. “Why would I care who’s watching when I’m talking to my wife?”

Her cheeks turned scarlet. She scanned the area, only rxing when she saw no eyes on them.

“Your public image needs some attention,” she muttered, trying to soundposed despite her obvious embarrassment.

Norton couldn’t resist the way her reaction made her look irresistibly endearing.
