Chapter 2886

    Charity felt absolutely guilty.

She admitted that she was too petty just now.

She could see that even though Chester could walk after having a prosthetic leg, there were still some differences between him and normal people.

"Will you be... like this forever?"

"The doctor said it''ll get better after some time, but I can''t put on my prosthetic leg every day." Chester picked up his walking stick. "It''s gettingte. I''ll be heading back first."

"I''ll... I''ll escort you back," Charity said worriedly upon recalling him falling just now.

"There''s no need for that. I won''t fall as long as no one pushes me so suddenly." Charity did not say a word.

Well, she could refrain from getting violent whenever she met him in the future. If that were not possible, she would scold him to satisfy herself.

In the end, Charity insisted on seeing Chester off. "When are you nning to return to work at Jewell Corporation?"

"I''m not going back anymore," Chester said nonchntly.

    Charity was stunned. "Why?"

Chester''s dark eyes looked toward the front calmly. "Thepany is developing pretty well. It''s not like it can''t operate normally if I''m not there."

"But it''s your blood, sweat, and tears."

"It is the fruit of my efforts. That''s why I can earn a dividend that no one else can get in their entire life every month even if I do nothing." Chester smiled at Charity. "Charity, I used to think all of those things were important. Maybe it was because I never had anything else besides material wealth."

Charity heard the bitterness in his words. However, she still teased him. "You''re talking as if you have found something more important than wealth."

Chesterughed. "How would you know I haven''t found it?"

His walking stick and his long legs stopped moving.

Under the moonlight and the street lights, Chester gazed at Charity gently. "I intend to protect the thing I treasure most quietly for the rest of my life."

"Am I an item?" Charity was not touched by his tenderness. On the contrary, she could not help but blurt out her thoughts.

She was not so stupid as to not understand the hidden meaning behind Chester''s words.

She only asked because she understood.

Chester was taken aback. He clenched his hands into fists and cleared his throat. "I spoke wrongly. You''re not an item."

    Charity was speechless.

She had the urge to push him and tell him to get lost. However, she did not dare to touch him lest he fell again.

A variety of expressions appeared on her face, and Chester could not help bursting intoughter.

"Get lost." Charity knew he did it on purpose and rolled her eyes at him.

"Okay. I''ll leave." Chester pushed the back door of the courtyard and arrived at his home within a few steps.

"Good night, Charity." He waved at her. There was a bright, happy gleam in his eyes.

It was nice returning from overseas. From now on, she would live beside him, and

he would not have to worry about not being able to meet her anymore.

Chester did not lose sleep that night.

The next day, he woke up and walked to the balcony, where he looked toward the garden next door.

Charity was watering her nts in the garden.

As the morning sunlight shone on her, she looked as pretty as a drawing.

Chester simply stared at her quietly until his phone rang.

When he saw the caller, he frowned unhappily.

    "Hello-"

"You little brat, I heard you''re back." Hunter''s voice sounded. "You''re back, but you didn''t evene home. Are you not nning toe back to the Jewell family forever?"

"Get to the point," Chester said coldly.

His parents had been indifferent throughout the past year he went overseas for treatment. They would never contact him if they did not need anything.
