"Get lost."
Charity shook Chester''s hand off.
The man''s tall figure suddenly swayed before he fell onto the floor together with the bowls.
Charity was instantly dumbfounded.
She never expected Chester to be so frail.
It was true that she was stronger now as she had to carry her child...
However, she would not have been able to...
Could he be trying to arouse her pity?
After the thought shed across Charity''s mind, Larissa noticed a flurry of activity in the dining room. When she came out to take a look, she was startled. "Oh, Chester. How did you fall? I told you to stay seated and that we''ll clean up the table. Charity, what are you looking at? Hurry up and help him up.”
"Oh." Once Charity recovered from her musings, she squatted to hold Chester.
Her gaze subconsciously turned to Chester''s prosthetic leg. When he was wearing pants earlier, she didn''t realize it. However, now that his pants were rolled up, she could see that the prosthetic leg was artificial. Even so, one could easily tell it was totally different from a real leg as the prosthetic leg was hard.
Somehow, an ufortable feeling crept up inside Charity.
"Aunty Larissa, I''m alright. I identally slipped and fell just now."
Chester''s waist and shoulders hurt from the fall, but the fall was real. When he stood up, he always relied on the strength of his one real leg because using the prosthetic leg for a long time would hurt his joints. Hence, when Charity suddenly pushed him just now, he was caught off guard, and what was more, he was holding some tes.
After hearing that, Charity cast a conflicted look at him.
"Stop moving around. I won''t me you even if you don''t help me out."
Seeing Chester''s condition, Larissa felt greater pity for him. Luckily, he had someone help him up after his fall today. If that happened when his caregiver was not around, nobody would be able to help him up.
Larissa felt that it was great to have Chester live next door. At least, she could take care of him.
As Larissa turned around to get the broom, Chester stared at the broken tes with guilt in his eyes.
He initially wanted to help her out, but little did he expect himself to cause her trouble instead.
"What happened just now?" Charity helped him to sit down and asked directly, "Could you be trying to arouse our pity?"
Chester''s mouth twitched as he was at a loss for words. He could not help but respond, "How awful is your impression of me now?"
Charity was speechless.
She did not wish to suspect him either. However, from the moment Chester came in, he had been scheming in front of Larissa, which perplexed Charity.
"Even if I''d wanted to arouse your pity, I wouldn''t have made myself fall on my butt. That was embarrassing." While speaking, Chester bent over and rolled up his pants to expose his prosthetic leg. He kept scratching the part of his leg that was cut off, which showed a visible mark between the prosthetic leg and real leg. It was because the end of the real leg was red.
Charity took a glimpse of it and immediately felt ufortable.
"What gives? You find it disgusting, huh?" When Chester saw the flicker of awkwardness in her eyes, his eyes darkened in spite of himself.
"N-No..." Charity recalled her suspicion just now and was immediately ovee by guilt. "It''s not."
"You can say it if you find it disgusting. I won''t me you."
"No, I really don''t." Charity promptly answered, “But your leg is so red... Is it alright?"
"I''m showing you this because I want to prove that I didn''t fall on purpose." Chester exined, "I''m still not used to this prosthetic leg, and especially the joint causes me difort. That''s why I need a walking stick when I walk. When I stand, I''ll usually depend on the strength of the real leg. This also exins why I was caught off guard and fell when you pushed me."
