Chapter 767

After hanging up the phone, Laura thought momentarily, then called Wesley. She told him everything that Charlotte, Marcus, and Natalie had said. After finishing, she asked a little nervously, "Wesley, do you want to take me on a trip?"

"I do," Wesley answered without hesitation. "Now that Marcus said he''ll be returning to Holden Group to work, I can finally step back and be with you. Laura, we''ve missed out on so much. Over the years, I''ve been with you, but you were always in pain.

"I want to take you traveling-not to see doctors or chase down new treatment methods, but to enjoy the scenery and eat delicious food."

His voice softened a little. "I''m really grateful to Charlotte, William, Marcus, and Natalie. They didn''t me us and have always considered our feelings. I''m truly thankful.

"Laura, I''ll take you on that trip once I wrap things up with Marcus. This time, there will be no illness and no shame forcing us to hide away. You''ll get to wear all kinds of beautiful dresses, and I''ll take tons of pictures of you."

His excitement was apparent in his voice. "Laura, I''ll start handling work now. You go ahead and start getting ready. I''ll hand everything over to Marcus as soon as I can."

"Are you sure this is okay?" Laura was still a little hesitant. "Nat is pregnant with twins. Marcus should be there to take care of her as her husband."

"Don''t worry about that. Nat is staying at the Walker residence. Charlotte, William, and her brothers are all doting on her. Honestly, there won''t be much for Marcus to do."

Wesley knew better than Laura did. With so many people pampering Natalie, even when Marcus was home, he might not even get the chance to sleep in the same bed as her.

But he didn''t say any of that to Laura. He figured that after spending some time with the Walkers and realizing he couldn''t do much for Natalie, Marcus would naturally return to work. "Laura, trust me on this. It''s time for us to spend more time together and make up for the years we''ve lost."

Laura exhaled deeply, then made up her mind. "Okay, I''ll listen to you."

"Great. I''ll get to work now. We''ll depart once I''ve got everything settled. While you''re at home, make a list of all the ces you''ve wanted to visit. I''ll take you to them all."

"Okay." Laura was getting excited too. "Then, hurry up with work! I''m going to look through the ces I''ve always dreamed of visiting."

"Will do." Wesley hung up and immediately called Marcus. As soon as the call connected, he got straight to the point. "Marcus, when are youing back to work? I want to take your mother on a trip.

"She''s been through so much over the years-hiding away, unable to face anyone. I want to take her out to see the world and take pictures of her looking beautiful."

"The day after tomorrow," Marcus replied. "I''ll get things in order today and tomorrow, then I''ll take over everything."

    "Good. It''s a n, then."

    "Got it."

Wesley hesitated. "Marcus... do you me me? Is it selfish of me to do this?"

"Dad, you and Mom deserve to enjoy some time alone together." Marcus chuckled. "You don''t owe me anything."

"I''ve never med you or Mom, not once in all these years. You both had it really hard. I''m going to be a dad myself. Soon, I''ll meet my son and daughter. I''m excited for what''sing."

His voice grew softer as he spoke. "Dad, take Mom on that trip and make up for all the hard times she''s endured. I''ll take good care of Nat and manage Holden Group. You won''t need to worry."

"Thank you, Marcus." Wesley''s voice choked a little. "I''ve been a terrible father. You''ve carried so much for me."

"Dad, we''re family. There''s no need to say things like that. Nat''s staying at the Walker residence for a while, but she and I will head back to our ce soon. We''re nning to tell Grandpa the good news about the babies. He''d be so happy."

"Good. You should tell your grandfather yourself. He''ll love hearing it from you." "Okay, that''s settled. I''m going to get ready now."

    "Alright, go ahead."

Marcus hung up the phone and went back to Natalie, who was in her own room at the Walker residence. Naturally, Marcus was staying with her.

"Babe, let''s return to Holden Residence in a couple of days. I''m nning to tell Grandpa the big news. Is that okay?"

"Of course." Natalie smiled. She grabbed Marcus'' hand and ced it on her slightly rounded belly. "I''m going to Hector''s hospital to set up my file. You''ll need toe with me to every prenatal checkup."

"That goes without saying." He gently touched her belly. He couldn''t help but marvel at how miraculous life was-how two peopleing together could create something entirely new.

These babies were the fruit of their love, and because grandchildren were always extra loved, they were already showered with affection.

Marcus held Natalie close to him and said, "Thank you, sweetheart. I''ll be the best dad I can be."

"I believe you," she said with a smile. "By the way, Marcus, I wanted to tell you that you don''t need to get a vasectomy. I actually really like kids."

"Sweetheart, you''re not thinking about having more, are you?" He looked at her. "Childbirth is tough on a woman''s body. I don''t want you to go through this again."

"I might not want to, but that doesn''t mean you need to go get snipped. Or do you want me to get sterilized instead?"

He imagined the scene and immediately shook his head. "Nope, let''s not do that."

"Marcus, there are plenty of ways to prevent pregnancy. What if I change my mindter, and you''ve already had the surgery? What if I want to have another baby?" She looked at him. "I can''t find another man to have one with, can I?" "Absolutely not!" Mracus was instantly flustered. "Nat, you''re not allowed to be with anyone else. If you want to have a baby, it has to be with me."

Sheughed and hugged him, leaning into his arms. "Okay, you''re the only one.

"Have you thought of names for the babies? Even though my parents and brothers already picked some, I want to know what you came up with, since you''re their dad."

He picked her up and gently ced her on the big bed. "I''ll go with whatever you choose."

She smiled. "Marcus, don''t you have any opinions of your own?"

"Nope," he said seriously. "I''ll just listen to you. I don''t need my own opinions.

"Listening to my wife brings sess. Thus, I''ll listen to my wife."

Natalie couldn''t help butugh. She reached out and ruffled his hair.

He immediately lowered his head to make it easier for her. "Nat, have you picked names for our kids?"

He looked at her warmly after she finished.

She nodded. "I''ve been thinking about it. I''d like to name the boy Theodore

Holden and the girl Eleanor Holden. Do they sound good?"

He nodded without hesitation. "They''re beautiful. Let''s go with those."

"But my mom and brothers picked names too." She opened the family group chat. "Look, they came up with a bunch. My mom even said she wanted one of the kids to have myst name.

    "But I don''t think that''s necessary."

She looked at him. "If one has your

people might think we''re divorced or something. So I''d rather they both have yourst name."

    belongs to s

"They can have yours too," he said quickly. "I don''t care whose name they take.

As long as they''re our kids, that''s all that matters."

She smiled again, put her phone on the nightstand, and sighed. "Let''s not talk about it now. I''m tired, so let''s sleep."

    "Okay."

They curled up together on her princess-themed bed. She turned off all the lights, snuggled into his arms, and quickly drifted off.

Two dayster, Marcus returned to work at Holden Group.

Meanwhile, Wesley and Laura set off on their long-awaited trip.

Back home, Charlotte devoted herself to caring for her daughter. Natalie, being a

doctor herself, understood every change in her body and knew how to manage it

With Hector owning a private hospital, she had all her checkups there. Her pregnancy went smoothly.

But as the due date approached, and her belly grewrger, her pregnancy symptoms got more intense. She had to get up frequently at night to use the bathroom, couldn''t lie t, and had to sleep on her side.

    s

Every time she moved at night, Marcus got up with her. It was a tough journey, but

they finally made it to her due date.

During her pregnancy, she followed a personalized meal n prepared by a professional nutritionist. By the time she was ready to give birth the babies were within a healthy weigh range, and she herself hadn''t gained too much weight.

Since she was having twins, she opted for a C-section. The surgery was performed by the best OB-GYN in Hector''s private hospital.

During the operation, Marcus waited outside the operating room, pacing back and

forth. He was so anxious that he could barely keep it together. His body trembled with fear the whole time.

Charlotte tried tofort him. "Marcus, don''t worry. Nat and the babies will be fine. She''s managed the whole pregnancy really well. She knows what she''s doing. It''ll be okay."

But herfort only made him more emotional. His eyes turned teary. "It''s all my

fault. She''s never doing this again."

Charlotte patted him on the shoulder. "Don''t cry."

"I''m not," he said, turning away. But a tear rolled down anyway.

Half an hourter, the operating room doors opened, and the doctor came out.

"Congrattions, Mr. Holden! Both babies and the mom are doing great. The boy came out five minutes before the girl."

With that, Marcus'' heart finally settled. "Can I see Nat now?" he asked with red eyes and a hoarse voice.

"Mrs. Holden said you can see her once she''s in the VIP room." The doctor ryed Natalie''s message. "Mr. Holden, she wants you to know that she and the babies are doing great."

Marcus'' throat tightened. He couldn''t say a word in response.

The nurses brought the babies out for him to see. He nced at them, but his eyes kept drifting back to the operating room.

Charlotte was also worried about Natalie, but after giving birth to six kids herself,

she didn''t see it as high risk. And with top-notch doctors and facilities, the risk was practically zero.

Once the surgery was done, Natalie was transferred to a VIP suite.

Marcus finally got to see her. "Nat."

He took her hand as tears streamed down his face. "Sweetheart, you''ve been so

    strong."

Natalie smiled. "It wasn''t too bad. A C-section is pretty quick. You saw the babies, right? They''re healthy."

"Yeah, I saw them. Sweetheart, I''m sorry. We''re never doing this again."

Natalie was at a loss for words. "Don''t worry. I''m fine." She raised her hand.

Marcus leaned over, and she gently ran her fingers through his hair. "I''m doing great. And I''m so happy. Marcus, I''m a mom, and you''re a dad now." "Yeah. But it''s been hard on you."

"Marcus, you''ll be a great dad, and I''ll be a great mom. Our kids will be the

    happiest in the world, right?"

    He nodded hard. "Absolutely."

"Good." She smiled warmly. "Marcus, it''s been tough on you, too."

She carried the pregnancy, but he carried most of the stress.

She squeezed his hand. "Honey, you''re always thanking me. But I should be

thanking you, too. From now on, the babies and I are counting on you."

He nodded firmly. "You can count on me. I''ll take care of you, love you, and spoil

    you.

"But to me, you''ll alwayse first."

She smiled gently. "Then, it''s a deal."

    "Deal."
