Chapter 1452

    ?Chapter 1452:

    “Freeze! Hands against the wall!”

Themand echoed through the room, and the music abruptly stopped. The lively atmosphere crumbled into a heavy, awkward silence.

Jacob reacted quickly, stepping out of the shadows. “Officers, I think there’s been a misunderstanding.”

“We received a report about illegal sexual activities here!” One of the officers, recognizing Jacob, motioned for the shlights to be turned off. As the harsh light receded, they took in the sight of Bryan and quickly put away their weapons.

“Mr. Dawson,” one officer said, clearly flustered. “Well, this might be a little inappropriate. Even if your wife’s expecting, engaging in such behavior in public isn’t quite…”

It was unclear whether the officer was more shocked by the scene itself or by the notion that Bryan had cheated, but their faces were painted with disbelief.

Their gazes shifted to the woman Bryan was protecting so fiercely.

“She doesn’t look so thin,” someone muttered under their breath.

“Maybe Mr. Dawson is just bored of skinny women and wants someone different?” another whispered.

Their murmurs, though hushed, cut through the heavy silence of the room.

Eileen buried her face deeper into the quilt, wishing she could vanish entirely.

She felt she would rather stop breathing than deal with such a mortifying misunderstanding!

    ???????? ?????????????? ???? ??????????????????.??????

Jacob stifled hisughter. “Guys, guys, no need for spection. That’s Mrs. Dawson. She’s pregnant, and she got tired of sitting on the couch, so Mr. Dawson had the bed brought in.”

The officers exchanged nces, inspecting the scene more closely.

Bryan finally stood up, giving Eileen’s shoulder a light, reassuring pat.

“Get up before you smother yourself,” he said.

Then, with a cold gaze, his eyes swept across the room.

Sensing the officers wouldn’t believe Jacob until they saw her face, Eileen reluctantly sat up, her expression stern despite the burn of embarrassment reddening her ears. She spoke with as muchposure as she could muster. “Next time you guys receive a report, maybe check the facts first? This sort of misunderstanding is beyond humiliating.”

The reporters who had gathered outside, eager to pounce on a scandal, were left with nothing but disappointment. They had anticipated some scious scoop, yet it turned out to be nothing.

“Alright, everyone, let’s leave. Apologies for the confusion,” the lead officer muttered, nodding before leading the group out.

Soon, the room became quiet again. The awkwardness in the air was evident.

“Shall we pick up where we left off?” Jacob asked.

“Of course!” Phoebe piped up, refusing to let the evening end on that note. “Only a few minutes were wasted, nothing more. We should just pretend none of this happened.”

Eileen could see that many people in the room were trying to suppress theirughter.

But since things had alreadye to this, Eileen didn’t want to leave now, eyeing the uneaten food on the table.
