Chapter 1440

    Chapter 1440:

“‘Colby!” Amoura called out, hurrying towards him. “We need to talk.”

“Colby” turned to look at Amoura.

The cer door was slightly open now, with strange muffled soundsing from within. “What’s up?” he asked.

“That wedding tomorrow has to go perfectly, Colby,” Amoura said. “Why the hell did you insist on havingit here? If the wedding were held in a different ce, we could take care of this mess in the cer while everyone’s gone. Just get rid of him tonight. After the wedding, when everyone

has gone home and things have calmed down, we can clean up the cer.”

“Anything else?” the fake Colby asked, his voice t.

Amoura shook her head. “No, that’s it. You like the woman you are about to marry since you chose her, right? After the wedding… Make sure you get her pregnant as soon as possible

“‘We can talk about that after tomorrow,” the fake Colby snapped, cutting her off.

He didn’t wait for Amoura to say another word. He ducked his head and entered the cer. He heard footsteps behind him and turned back. “Don’t follow me down here,” he said sharply. “I can take care of it myself.”

Amoura hesitated for a moment. Then, she turned and walked away.

The cer was dark and damp, and the fake Colby’s footsteps echoed eerily in the silence. As he walked deeper in, he could hear faint soundsing from the far end.

He passed rows of shelves stacked with bottles ofwine and expensive liquors, theirbels gleaming faintly in the dim light.

At the very end of the cer was a heavy iron door. The faint sounds wereing from behind it. He pushed the door open, and the sounds abruptly stopped.

In the darkness, he could just make out the figure of a man chained to the wall, his body trembling.

“‘Please, don’t kill me!” The man shrank into the corner, desperately covering his face with both hands.

“‘Colby” approached slowly. Watching the man tremble and curl deeper into the corner, “Colby” drove his foot hard into the man’s chest. “Tell me this—who are you?”

“1… I’m Colby…” The words faltered, and the man’s breath hitched. Frantically, he shook his head, as if trying to convince himself. “No, I’m not Colby! I’m not that man!” “1f you’re not Colby, you will die. If you are, I’ll let you live,” the fake Colby, Christos, said, his tone calm and indifferent.

The man’s body went rigid when he heard those words. Dropping to his knees, he said, “1 1m not him. I swear! Wait —yes, yes, I am! I am Colby!”

The man’s mind was not clear enough, but he was trying his best to stay alive.

“If you want to leave, do as I say.” Christos crouched, gripping the man’s jaw tightly, making sure he couldn’t look away from his cold stare.

Christos’ eyes looked lifeless, like a deep, stagnant pool.

A few minutester, Christos came out of the cer, carrying several wine bottles, which he handed to a servant. Passing by Amoura, he muttered, “That man… You can kill him tomorrow morning. I just couldn’t do it.” “1’11 take care of it,” Amoura replied without a second thought. “1’ve already killed so many people; I don’t mind killing one more. Just follow my lead, and everything will be fine.”
