Chapter 1354

    ?Chapter 1354:

She paused, gauging Bryan’s reaction before continuing. “Given that you two are busy with work, if Ste finds herself with too much time on her hands, she might cause trouble for you.” Le was concerned that Bryan might protest but was determined to make her case.

The suggestion hung in the air: should Ste and Le stay here?

Eileen’s mind reeled. She had never entertained this possibility. The whole point of bringing Le from Alverton to Onnd was so that Le could spend herter years with her. If Le and Ste stayed here, Eileen could only visit them asionally, perhaps not even once a month.

“Grandma, Bryan and I can handle Ste,” Eileen said, her voice tinged with concern. She couldn’t bear the thought of Le staying here purely to keep tabs on Ste. “You don’t need to—” But before she could finish, Le interjected with a smile, “Don’t worry. The main appeal is that this ce truly is a retiree’s dream. When you have free time, have your mother bring Gabri over for a visit. Whether you and Bryane or not doesn’t matter.”

Le waved her hand dismissively, showing no hint of reluctance.

Eileen asked, “And Ste’s on board with this?”

“She was the one who proposed this, actually. Suits me just fine,” Le replied. “You two get packing. We’ve already worked it out — I’m just here to inform you about our n.”

Eileen stood speechless, watching as Le rose and left the room.

Bryan said, “Don’t overthink it. This could be a blessing in disguise. Your grandma was used to living in Alverton. Here in Onnd, she doesn’t have any friends. Havingpany might do her a world of good. And don’t worry; if they don’t feelfortable living together, they’ll go their separate ways.”

He beamed at the thought of the two formerly feuding women now being so close.

Hearing this, Eileen hastily finished packing, intent on asking Ste about the matter.

As she stepped out of the room, Eileen spotted Ste and Le by the entrance, shrugging on their coats, ready to go out. “Where are you off to?” she asked.

Ste exchanged a puzzled nce with Le before replying, “Didn’t Le fill you in? We’ll stay here a bit longer. This ce is too cozy to pass up. You guys can leave. When we’ve had enough fun, we’ll call you to pick us up.”

Eileen nodded, her words of persuasion dying on her lips. She watched Ste and Le don their coats and stride out together.

Left with no alternative, Eileen made her way to Ruby’s room.

Ruby, sensing Eileen’s unease, said, “Those two women are keeping each other in check, but they’re getting along well. No need to worry. Just keep in touch by phone. The staff here will look after them, and the medical facilities are top-notch. There won’t be any problems.”

“They’ve gone out already. I can’t stop them anyway,” Eileen sighed. “I’ll leave them be for now. You can continue packing. Once you’re done, we can set off.”
