Chapter 1353

    ?Chapter 1353:

“Okay, I’ll have Jacob continue the investigation. By the way, did you see Milford?” Phoebe’s tone heightened with curiosity. “Did you speak with him to convince him to return?”

“I just saw him,” Eileen responded, her voice filled with a trace of sadness. “I was in the car and didn’t get out, so I didn’t speak with him.”

Phoebe fell silent for a few seconds before replying, “Why didn’t you call out to him? You’ve been searching for him, right? Don’t you want to know how he has been?”

Eileen exined, “I just want to know that he’s alright. I don’t want to disrupt his life now. If he’s choosing to stay hidden from us in Onnd and live cautiously, it means he doesn’t want us to interfere or worry about him.” She respected Milford’s decision.

Phoebe exhaled deeply, acknowledging Eileen’s perspective. “You are right. If I were in your ce, I might have forcibly brought him back, and he would probably resent me for it.”

“I can let Milford make his own choices. It’s just… I can’t help but worry.” Eileen couldn’t shake off the memory of how Milford had matured into a kind and bright young man.

He had been the student who gave her the most satisfaction as a mentor. She had genuinely cared for him. So, she truly wanted Milford to live well.

“Milford is in his early twenties now, an adult making his own decisions. We have to respect that. When he’s ready, he’ll reach out to us himself,” Phoebe said, trying tofort Eileen. After talking a bit more with Phoebe, Eileen ended the call and reattached the dashcam to her car.

Thepany would resume operations soon, and Bryan was ready to return to work. Eileen and the others nned to leave the ce in the eastern suburbs.

As Eileen was packing, there was a knock at the door. Le entered slowly, smiling.

    “Eileen, I’ve dealt with Ste.”

“What do you mean?” Eileen asked, puzzled.

“Ste has decided to dedicate all her energy to me. She doesn’t want me living with you indefinitely, so she has devised a n,” Le said, casting a nce toward Bryan.

Bryan, who was sorting Gabri’s clothes, stopped and turned at Le’s words, his figure half-enshrouded in shadow, waiting for Le to continue.

Le looked at Bryan and inquired, “I heard you purchased this house for you and Eileen’s retirement?”

Bryan’s expression tightened slightly as he nodded in affirmation. “Yes.”

“You both have many years left before you retire. It’s premature to think about a retirement home now. I propose you give this ce to Ste and me. We’ve decided to live here together. We won’t interfere with your lives anymore,” Le said, her eyebrows lifted in hopeful anticipation.

Eileen, taken aback, found herself momentarily speechless. She had anticipated potential disagreements between Le and Ste, but never imagined they would end up nning to live together!

Le said, “I’ll be straight with you, Bryan. Your grandmother cares about the Dawson family and you the most. Poor Eileen’s always an afterthought. The real issue is that Ste is easily swayed by others.”
