Chapter 1343

    ?Chapter 1343:

“I figured we could give her one gift together,” Bryan said, a small frown appearing on his face. He hadn’t expected Gabri to be this “greedy.”

As if struck by a thought, Bryan retrieved something. “But I have prepared a gift for you.”

Eileen swiftly grabbed it and handed it to Gabri.

Gabri’s face lit up instantly. “Merry Christmas, Mommy! You are the best!”

Eileen looked at Gabri with a smile.

“Okay, time to eat,” Ste announced as she stood up, prompting everyone to head into the dining area.

The atmosphere became more joyful, thanks to Gabri’s asional funny remarks.

They had stayed here for Christmas for a reason: to subtly avoid receiving visitors.

Ste was getting older, and it was bing harder for her to entertain guests.

Last year, after a morning full of visitors, Ste had been feeling unwell, so Jarred had locked the door for the rest of the day. Still, visitors had kept calling and ringing the doorbell, making it impossible for Ste to rest.

But this year, things were much calmer. After lunch, Eileen and Bryan took Gabri to the hot spring pool in the courtyard. Bailee called Ruby, and Ruby stepped inside a room to take the call.

Ste was brewing coffee when she noticed Le leaving the house and walking straight toward Eileen and Bryan. Ste quickly rose and caught up with Le.

“Le, how are you finding the meals here? Do they suit your taste?” Ste asked, gently guiding Le back toward the living room.

Le replied, “They’re quite to my liking.”

“Since you’re full, you should rx for a while. Later, when the sun’s out, we can see if there are any fun events in the square nearby,” Ste gently eased Le back into a seat. “Didn’t you chat with an elderlydy there yesterday?”

“It was just small talk, nothing special,” Le replied, her eyes wandering to Eileen and Bryan. She looked like she was ready to end the conversation with Ste. “There are only some olddies there. Nothing interesting. I’d rather not go out today.” With that, Le made a move to stand up.

Ste’s throat tightened, and she quickly stopped her. “There are also some men your age—”

Realizing her slip, Ste quickly stopped talking.

To Ste’s surprise, Le stopped at her words. “Actually, I think going out is indeed a good idea. We can go outter.” Ste was momentarily lost for words.

“Don’t misunderstand me. I simply can’t tolerate a group of women chattering; it bes overwhelming. Men are more direct and uplicated,” Le exined. “Going forward, Eileen shouldn’t limit herself to thepany of these affluent women. She ought to focus on her career and engage with businessmen…”

Le kept mentioning Eileen, which made Ste uneasy. “You’ve worked hard all your life. Don’t stress about the matters of the younger generation.”
