?Chapter 927:
The waiter processed the payment with the card and then respectfully handed it back to Conroy.
Once he had his card back, Conroy dove straight into the heart of the matter. “The real reason I asked you to meet me today is your mother, Eileen. Now that she has beenid to rest in the family cemetery and you have returned to the family, can’t you consider reconciling with me for the sake of our family?”
With her arms crossed, Eileen watched him speak.
Conroy continued, “I married your mother so that you could be born legitimately. Throughout the years, your mother and I maintained a business-like rtionship with no emotional ties. So, my rtionship with Gianna wasn’t a betrayal of your mother! I’ve looked after the Vazquez family’s interests on your mother’s behalf for many years. I’ve put in the effort. Do you think it’s fair for you to kick me out of the family?”
Conroy looked at Eileen withplicated emotions in his eyes.
Eileen’s face remained impassive as she countered, “What do you think would be fair then?”
“At the very least, you should provide me with a sum of money to secure my future,” Conroy said without hesitation.
“Future? You’re already an old man. How can you have the audacity to ask for that?” Eileen scoffed. Clearly, he didn’t have much longer to live. Discussing his future seemed almostical.
“I realize you dislike me no matter what I say at this point. You believe I’m deceiving you, but I’m honestly telling you that your mother married me to ensure you had a legitimate background and to prevent any scandal from tarnishing the Vazquez family’s name. You wouldn’t want to damage your family’s reputation, would you?” Conroy repeatedly emphasized to Eileen that he held the secret that she was his biological daughter.

Revealing this would not only impact the Vazquez family but also Eileen herself, exposing a truth Dottie had concealed for many years.
Finally understanding Conroy’s leverage, Eileen responded after a pause, “I don’t care about having a spotless background. It doesn’t concern me.”
“But your mother cared deeply about this!” Conroy quickly said.
“Once your true identityes out, you’ll be seen as an illegitimate child and criticized by others.”
He was anxious to convince Eileen to ept his version of events quickly so he could move on to another subject.
But Eileen retorted, “I’m not sure if my mother was really concerned about that. Why don’t you die and ask her about it in the afterlife?”
Conroy was left without words.
Eileen continued, “Also, you could inform her that I’ve been found and that I’ve been ousted from the Vazquez family. Ask her whether I handled things correctly. If she thinks I did wrong, she can scold me in my dreams, but I won’t take your word for it now.”
Conroy was taken aback by Eileen’s words. As the waiter arrived to serve their food, Bryan requested two takeout boxes. While continuing his conversation with Conroy, Bryan packed several of Eileen’s favorite dishes.
After finishing his conversation with Conroy, Eileen left with Bryan, each of them carrying a takeout box.
