?Chapter 625:
“Yes, she kept you out, but was she also able to keep you quiet?” Eileen had wanted to bring this up but hadn’t known how. Now that Denise had mentioned it, she seized the opportunity.
Her words made Denise feel uneasy.
Eileen continued, “You’ve been spreading rumors in our neighborhood, tarnishing both my mother’s and my reputations. Do you think this will aplish your goal?”
At that moment, Roderick’s face turned cold. “What rumors? Mom, what have you done?”
Denise quickly responded, “I haven’t done anything wrong. I was just worried about Eileen. As Gabri’s grandmother, I needed to see Gabri, so I dropped by. But Ruby shut me out—”
“And we had a quarrel. Perhaps the rumors started because Ruby was too haughty, and the neighbors couldn’t stand her.”
“You know better than anyone what really happened.” Aware of Denise’s dishonesty, Eileen chose not to argue further. Instead, she warned, “If I hear those rumors again, I’ll call the police. They’ll find out who’s behind them, and whoever it is could end up in jail for years.”
Denise felt fear upon hearing this. Roderick appeared angry, while Judie rolled her eyes at Denise.
Bryan remained silent next to Eileen, but his presence was impossible to ignore. To Denise, however, they were the younger generation, and she expected them to respect her.
Immediately, Denise said angrily, “You want to send your own mother to jail? Aren’t you afraid of karma?”
“You don’t need to keep reminding me you’re my mother. Are you trying to constantly remind yourself of our rtionship?” Eileen replied. Hearing the word “mother” from Denise was absurd to her. It felt like Denise was trying to hurt her.
“I’m just telling the truth! I’m afraid you might forget it!” Denise said awkwardly. “Don’t change the subject. Even though you’ve distanced yourself from me legally and give me alimony every month, you should still have a conscience! You live in a big house and drive a luxury car, yet you only give me two thousand dors a month. Don’t you feel ashamed of that?”

“Our rtionship is only protected byw, but I can also use thew to make you lose everything,” Eileen said coldly, clearly angry.
Seeing Eileen’s anger, Denise didn’t dare to argue further. She looked at Roderick and said, “I… I have my son. Do you think I need you? My son is earning money now, and Judie is pregnant. I n to treat my grandson better than I’ve ever treated your daughter!”
“Then you better remember what you just said,” Eileen replied. She didn’t feel saddened by Denise’s words. After all, she never expected Denise to care for Gabri. Gabri already had a grandmother who truly cared for her—Ruby.
“Let’s go,” Bryan said, standing up and putting his arm around Eileen’s shoulder.
Two customers entered and were startled by themotion. Eileen, not wanting to disrupt business at Roderick’s restaurant, decided to leave with Bryan.
Judie stood up and went to greet the customers, while Denise, feeling guilty, moved to wipe down the tables.
Roderick quickly ran after Eileen and Bryan.
“Eileen, why didn’t you tell me that Mom came to your ce before?” Roderick asked, slightly out of breath from running.
