Chapter 623

    ?Chapter 623:

Judie returned the money to Eileen and said, “Eileen, since you’re in my restaurant, I’ll make the decisions. This one’s on me.”

She then called over another waiter to ce the order and escorted Eileen to the back.

There was a small dining area where the restaurant staff usually ate. Eileen could see the kitchen through a window, where Roderick was working diligently, sweat glistening on his forehead.

Roderick was so absorbed in his work that he didn’t notice Eileen’s presence.

“Eileen, now that you’re on your own, don’t hesitate to ask for help. We’re more than willing to assist you, as long as you reach out.” Judie guided Eileen to a seat, attempting to cultivate a closer bond. However, there was a subtle undertone of condescension in her words.

Eileen had learned from Roderick that the restaurant was thriving, with profits nearing two hundred thousand after only a few months of operation. Generating several hundred thousand a year seemed well within their reach.

As a result, Judie’s sense of superiority had grown. While it was true that Eileen was wealthier, Judie believed her life was more fulfilling, considering she had a supportive husband and was about to have a baby.

Judie then lowered her gaze, touched her belly, and continued, “Recently, Roderick and I had an ultrasound, and we were told there’s an eighty percent chance we’re having a son. Roderick’s mother was overjoyed and suggested we save up for a home for the baby.”

“That’s wonderful,” Eileen responded, choosing to ignore Judie’s subtle maniptions. Despite her personal dislike, Judie was still Roderick’s wife. Given Roderick’s affection for Judie and their seemingly perfect life, Eileen felt it unnecessary to interfere.

“Eileen, there’s no need to be envious. You can still find another partner while Gabri is young. Just be cautious, though. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you because of your wealth.” Judie poured a ss of water for Eileen.

Eileen epted the water with a simple, “Thank you,” while contemting whether or not to reveal to Judie that Bryan had returned.

“But considering your situation… Finding a man who’s never been married is unlikely unless he’s after your money. So, you should look for someone who’s divorced by now.” Judie continued her pretense of concern, but Eileen could sense she was scheming for her own benefit.

“There’s no need for you to concern yourself with my marriage,” a clear voice interjected suddenly.

Judie was startled. She stood up abruptly, her leg colliding with the table, causing her to wince in pain.

However, there was no time for her to focus on the difort. Her attention was fully fixed on Bryan, her face reflecting utter disbelief.

“What are you doing here?” Eileen asked in surprise, her gaze fixed on Bryan.

In the small room, Bryan managed only a few steps, his awkward posture evident despite his efforts to hide it.

Eileen, aware of his condition, quickly pulled out a chair for him. Bryan sat down and exined, “The doctor wants me back at the hospital for an IV drip every afternoon at three. Other than that, I’m free to go out.”

“Really?” Eileen asked, surprised. “Then why are you here to find me? Why not just take a walk around the block?” She recalled his earlier intentions to distance himself from her. He had even advised her not to bring Gabri to the hospital too often.
