?Chapter 596:
As Eileen continued speaking, Josue whispered, “So, you didn’t bring Gabri with you today?”
“No. Benjamin is looking after her while I’m at work,” Eileen replied. She then approached Bryan’s bed and added, “Your leg is injured, so it must be difficult to keep up with the project these days. You might want to consider having your fiancée, Zelda, step in for you temporarily.”
Bryan thought for a moment, his lips pressed tightly together, before responding, “Okay.”
“Wait.” Jacob interrupted. “Don’t be so formal, Eileen. Isn’t there something else you want to say?”
With a slight raise of her eyebrows, Eileen couldn’t resist adding, “Yes. Mr. Dawson and Zelda were supposed to marry yesterday, but the ceremony was postponed due to the weather. I hope you recover soon, Mr. Dawson, so you can hold your wedding. Maybe the gods were against your wedding yesterday, but as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way. If you persevere, it will happen eventually.”
Josue looked baffled and asked, “What are you implying, Eileen?”
“What? Don’t you understand?” Eileen turned to Josue. “Let me spell it out for you. Those who seek trouble will find it.”
With that, Eileen pulled out a sealed envelope containing a stack of money.
She said, “This is from thepany; we hope you recover soon. Please ept it.”
Without waiting for a response, she zipped up her bag, turned, and left.
In less than five minutes, she had said her piece and departed.

Jacob stood there, bewildered. “That’s it? We couldn’t convince her to leave just a few days ago, but now she’spletely moved on?”
“Women always change so fast.” Josue said with a knowing expression. “But she’s changed way faster than Edna ever did.”
“Did she and Benjamin get together a while ago?”
Exasperated, Jacob walked over to Bryan’s bedside and said, “What you did probably pushed them closer together.”
“Fuck off.” Bryan frowned and threw a packet of tissues at Jacob.
Noticing Bryan’s foul mood, Josue pulled Jacob out to get some breakfast.
Bryan remained alone on the bed, clenching his teeth in frustration, though his chiseled face betrayed no sign of anger.
His emotions wereplicated.
In the afternoon, Bryan was discharged from the hospital. On his way back to the Dury family’s home, he passed by the house where Eileen was staying.
From a distance, he saw Benjamin ying with Gabri in the yard. Gabri, toddling along in her walker, babbled, “DaDaddi!”
The word struck a chord in Bryan.
“No, I’m not your daddy,” Benjamin gently corrected her.
Bryan’s expression shifted. After a moment, he turned and walked away.
Due to the weather, Eileen stayed in the vige for two more days.
Three dayster, when the weather cleared, it was time for Eileen and Benjamin to leave for the airport.
The day before their departure, a local warned them that the heavy rains could easily trigger mudslides.
The summer rains often drenched the area, which was popr with tourists. This could cause problems in the future.
