?Chapter 575:
Josue poked his head out and interjected, “But it’s already happened. Over the past three months, Zelda has devotedly cared for Bryan. She’s secured a significant ce in his heart. Bryan likes her now. And think about it—your direct approach might just irritate him. Even if you told Bryan everything, he still wouldn’t remember you. How would you feel if he returned to you with Zelda still in his heart?”
His words cut deep, causing Eileen great pain.
In response, Eileen asked, “Then do you know how I would feel seeing him marry another woman and have children with her? What if he regains his memoryter? If I don’t try to stop this marriage now, won’t he—”
“His memory can’t be recovered!” Jacob eximed, then quickly covered his mouth, realizing his mistake.
He knew Bryan didn’t want Eileen to know that he hadn’t lost his memory. There was nothing Eileen could do about it.
“What do you mean?” Eileen stood up, her gaze sharp as suspicion began to form in her mind. “Is his memory loss because of Coen’s drug, or…”
Josue interjected, “No matter the reason, Bryan is physically disabled now. He’s not the man he once was. Why do you insist on staying with him? You have many suitors. With your capabilities, finding another man would be easy. Why put yourself through this torment?”
“I love him for who he is, not for his past achievements. Even though he’s disabled now, my love for him willst a lifetime!” Eileen said resolutely. “From this moment on, if you two try to persuade me otherwise, our friendship is over!”
With that, Eileen picked up Gabri and started to ascend the stairs.
Halfway up, she couldn’t hold back her tears any longer.
She kissed Gabri’s cheek and cradled her once they were back in the room. In a soft voice, she whispered, “Gabri, you understand me, don’t you? Even if he were no longer alive, I couldn’t forget him…”

Outside, in the corner of the house, Bryan leaned against the cold wall, cane in hand. He had overheard the heated exchange inside.
The veins on the back of his hand bulged, his fingertips turning white as he gripped the cane tightly.
He clenched his teeth, the muscles in his jaw tensing as he fought the urge to burst into the house and embrace Eileen and Gabri.
He shifted slightly, then slowly walked away.
Bryan had only taken a few steps when Jacob and Josue caught up with him.
“You heard everything. We tried to change Eileen’s mind, but it’s just not possible,” Josue exined, offering support to Bryan. But Bryan pushed him away.
“If persuasion doesn’t work, then stop trying. Once I’m married to Zelda, she’ll have no choice but to move on,” Bryan stated, his voice rough as he struggled to keep his emotions in check.
With his hands tucked into his pockets, Jacob followed Bryan and said, “The hospital hasn’t found a way to neutralize the drug yet. However, people from Coen’sb suggested that if the drug isn’t fully sessful, the effects will be manageable. Have you considered what will happen if it fails? Marrying Zelda means you can never go back to Eileen. She’ll resent you forever.”
