?Chapter 531:
“Gabri has been kidnapped,” Bryan interjected, his voice shaking with anxiety and anger. “We’re on the way there.”
“Send me the address; I’ll go there. I am going to call the police. Dewitt will make sure Gabri is safe!” Josue said, a mix of anger and fear in his voice.
“The police are already on it,” Bryan said. “We’ll keep each other updated. But don’t count on Dewitt.”
Bryan then hung up.
He was smart. He knew Dewitt’s group was using him as bait.
Raymond, worried, spoke from the front seat. “Sir, we can’t drive to that address. It’s a long hike through the mountains. Going there without backup is dangerous.”
Bryan frowned and looked at Eileen.
Eileen sat in the corner, her eyes filled with sadness as she stared nkly out the window.
She didn’t cry, but she looked like she might shatter at any moment.
Bryan’s jaw tightened. He reached out and gently ced his hand on Eileen’s. “Gabri will be okay. I promise I’ll do everything I can to keep her safe.”
“Don’t touch me.” Eileen pulled her hand away, tears welling up in her eyes.
Right now, she couldn’t handle any words offort.
Only having Gabri back would make her feel better and allow her to think clearly again.
Bryan watched her struggle topose herself, his heart breaking.
The car grew quiet, an ufortable silence hanging in the air.
Gabri’s captors were waiting on a hilltop outside Onnd.
The car stopped at the foot of the mountain. The ce was deserted, except for the asional bird chirping from the trees.
Eileen opened the car door to get out, but just as she was about to step out, a sharp pain shot through her neck and shoulders.
She passed out and fell back into the car.
Bryan caught her with his hands, holding her close as he kissed her forehead gently.
He held her hand for a few seconds, then carefullyid her down in the back seat. He got out and closed the door.
“Mr. Dawson—” Raymond wanted to get out of the car, but Bryan shut the driver’s door before he could open it.
“Do you have any cigarettes?” Bryan asked.
Raymond’s hands trembled as he pulled out a new pack of cigarettes.
Bryan took the pack, his eyes filled with worry. “Take Eileen home. If she wakes up, tell her I’m going to get Gabri and Ruby back safely.”
