Chapter 417

    ?Chapter 417:

“Milford’s been acting strangely thesest few days,” Ruby suddenly remarked. “He onlyes out for meals, retreats to his room immediately afterward, and even when he interacts with Gabri, he’s quiet and looks distressed.”

Ruby gestured toward Milford’s room and continued, “I overheard him on the phone earlier. It sounded like he was having an argument with someone.”

The argument had subsided, but Ruby was convinced that Milford had been in a heated argument with someone.

    “I’m guessing it’s Z. I’ll talk to himter.”

Milford, outwardly rebellious, still had a core of sensibility.

Not long after, Bryan descended the stairs and took Gabri from Eileen, casually saying, “Let’s find some time to visit the hospital tomorrow. Jacob’s stepped into fatherhood.”

Eileen realized she hadn’t seen Phoebe in a while. Phoebe hadmented about gaining so much weight that she refused to leave the house.

Eileen had been so busy that she’d lost track of Phoebe’s due date.

“It’s a boy!” Bryan announced, kissing Gabri with a self-satisfied smile. How could a boy everpare to his precious little girl?

“Who gave birth to the baby?” Eileen asked suddenly.

Bryan was momentarily confused. “Of course, it’s Phoebe!”

Eileen grinned. “Don’t forget about the moms. You made me feel like you and Jacob were the ones delivering the babies.”

Eileen stood up, straightened her slightly wrinkled shirt, and headed upstairs to find Milford.

“Remember, Gabri came from Eileen,” Ruby reminded Bryan. “No matter how much you boast about Gabri, always remember that without Eileen, there wouldn’t be a Gabri.”

Recently, Ruby had noticed a hint of jealousy in Eileen’s eyes when it came to Gabri.

But this actuallyforted her, as it was clear Bryan didn’t favor sons over daughters—a rarity in wealthy circles.

The baby in Bryan’s arms kicked twice, as if agreeing with her grandmother’s sentiment.

In Milford’s room, only a dim light illuminated the space. Eileen knocked and entered after receiving a muffled response.

Milford, sitting by the window, stood up to turn on the light when he saw Eileen.

    “Eileen?”

“You’ve been a bit down the past few days. What’s going on?” Eileen approached him and asked.
