    Bryan’s gaze cut his words short.


    Bryan didn’t say he would hand over the shares to him. Realizing his misunderstanding, Josue felt embarrassed and didn’t ask further. He quickly agreed, “Okay. But remember the deal about using the profits for investments, and that the earnings are mine.”


    “I won’t go back on my promise,” Bryan replied calmly, leaningzily against the pir, his eyes catching the light from the streetmps.


    Looking up, Josue asked, “Bryan, aren’t you tired? It’ste. Can’t this wait until tomorrow?”


    He was exhausted. In fact, he hadn’t been sleeping welltely since he hadn’t seen Gabri. A kiss tonight might help him sleep well for a few nights.


    Wide awake, Bryan responded, “I spend every day with my daughter; it keeps me energized.” He returned the blow that Josue had delivered a few days ago.


    Josue wanted to turn around and leave, but he didn’t dare. Bryan knew exactly how to threaten him.


    “Bryan, you should actually thank me,” Josue said. “Without me, would you have held Gabri the moment she was born? Without me, would you have been able to name her?”


    “Named her?” Bryan scoffed. It didn’t ring a bell to him.


    “Athena!” Josue eximed, looking at Bryan’s face. “Didn’t you know? Gabri Curtis is just a nickname—her real name is Athena Curtis.”

    Bryan, leaning against the pir, paused for a moment. He quickly withdrew his hand from his pocket, stepped forward, and asked in a low voice, “What did you just say?”


    He had forgotten that Josue had consulted him when naming his goddaughter. Josue had suggested the name Athena, but Bryan never expected they would actually use the name he had chosen.


    “Hasn’t Eileen told you? I offered her many options, but she ignored them all. Instead, she chose your Athena…” Josue trailed off.


    Before he could continue, Bryan rushed into the vi and mmed the bedroom door behind him.


    Inside, Eileen was deep in sleep until Bryan’s kiss woke her. Instinctively, she ced her hand on his chest. She barely opened her eyes and noticed the excitement in his gaze.


    She felt both helpless and speechless. Was he thrilled in the middle of the night that Gabri was indeed his daughter?
