Chapter 379

    ?Chapter 379:

“What are you doing?!” Lydia cried out in fright, her back pressed against the closet. “How could you just hit him? I’ll call the police! This is your father! I’m a woman; you can’t hit a woman, can you?”

“He can’t, but I can,” Eileen interjected, stepping forward and surprising Lydia, whose pupils dted in fear.

“What are you doing? Trying to give Bryan’s grandma a heart attack?” Lydia’s voice quivered as she used Ste as an excuse.

Ste merely scoffed. “I’ve put up with you for years, and I’m still here. Now that they’re standing up for me, I’m quite content!”

Under Bryan’s cold re, Lydia felt a shiver run down her spine. She steadied herself, helped Brandon to his feet, and scrambled for words to defuse the situation.

“He’s your father. It’spletely inappropriate to hit your own father. Are you not worried about facing public criticism for your impulsive actions?”

As Brandon shook off the dizziness from the blow, Lydia’s words made him sit upright, his finger quivering as he pointed at Bryan. “You ingrate!”

But before he could say another word, Bryan’s intense look silenced him.

“Are you being an attentive son yourself?” Ste rose, took the cane from the old butler, and strode over to Brandon, delivering a sharp p.

“Why didn’t you die in that ident? You’ve always been a failure. You’ve made so many mistakes, you fool!”

Brandon covered his face and red at Ste, his eyes burning with anger. “I’m foolish? Funny! I won’t allow that malicious woman’s schemes to seed against me. Yet you, you’ve been misled by her, focusing all your attention on this ungrateful Bryan andpletely disregarding me, your own son!”

A malicious woman? Eileen’s brow furrowed slightly as she focused her gaze on Bryan. The dim light enveloped him, casting an even darker shadow on the ck shirt he wore. His hands, which hung by his sides, slowly clenched into fists. The veins in his slender arms became more pronounced.

The woman Brandon spoke of must be Bryan’s mother.

The animosity between Bryan’s parents was intense, almost palpable. It was baffling why Brandon harbored such deep-seated loathing for his mother.

With Bryan’s mother now deceased, that venomous hatred had been redirected toward Bryan himself.

It was unimaginable to Eileen how a father could despise his own blood to such an extent.

“Brandon, don’t be fooled by her lies!” Ste eximed, pointing at Lydia. “The Dawson name still holds weight. It’s better than watching you squander the Dawson legacy as an outsider, bit by bit!”
