?Chapter 1419:
Damon shrugged. “Not sure yet.”
Niks nced away, cool and confident. “Tell Dad she has none.” Without another word, he grabbed hisptop and went off to find Dani.
Meanwhile, Dani’s fingers flew over the keyboard. She was used to quietly essing McCoy Group’s secure system every day to review files. Just as she was about to finalize the login, her finger hovered over the confirmation key. That was when she noticed Niks standing nearby.
She nced up and asked, “Do you need something?”
Niks hesitated before asking, “Can I borrow some money from you?”
Nervousness crept in. As Hamilton’s eldest son, Niks was not someone who usually struggled for cash. Yet asking Dani—a younger woman—for a loan felt awkward and a little embarrassing. He had asked Cedric before, but Cedric just pointed to Dani and said she handled all the money.
He didn’t get why Cedric let his wife take care of the finances. How pathetic!
Sitting across from Dani, Niks felt stifled and frustrated. If he were borrowing money from Hamilton, thetter would have t-out refused. But this time, he was determined to stand up for himself.
Carefully, heid out his n, speaking clearly. “I want to start a business of my own. I’ve studied your sessful growth strategies, and I believe this could work. But I need some startup capital. Could you help me out?”
He wasn’t very optimistic. Years working under Hamilton had trained him to expect rejection and suppression. Even his father treated him harshly, so how could he expect any different from Dani?
Holding up hisptop, Niks added, “Here’s my idea and the concept. If you think it won’t work, then I…”
He was about to say more, but Dani cut him off, asking, “How much money do you need?”
Niks sat there, momentarily frozen. It took him a while to process. “What did you say?”
??α???????? ?hαρ???????? g??l????v??????.?????
Dani’s expression remained stern, and her voice carried a sharp edge that shut down any hint of humor. “Just tell me the amount. How much money do you need?”
With that, Niks felt an odd mix of gratitude, validation, and a hint of pride.
He hesitated, weighing his words. “Ten million, maybe?” Even as he spoke, anxiety crept in. “But you know my situation—without the McCoy family’s resources, theirwork, or support. There’s no telling what will happen to that money, or if I’ll even make it work. Only now, with my funds dried up, do I realize just how huge ten million really is. If I end up losing it, I honestly don’t know when, or if I could ever pay you back. Are you sure you want to go through with this?”
Sitting on the sofa with herptop, Dani looked into Niks’ eyes. “So, all you’re asking for is ten million?”
Niks gave a small nod.
Dani studied his expression for a moment. “You’re certain that’s enough?”
Niks blinked, thrown off by the question. Suddenly, he felt awkward and looked down. “You know what? Never mind.”
He pushed himself up, ncing back to see Dani lounging against the sofa. A thought shed through his mind. Of course, she wouldn’t take him seriously.
