Chapter 1653

    ?Chapter 1653:

The DNA test results shed in her mind—Kylee wasn’t her father’s daughter. So, she had no more concerns. She felt reassured, humming a soft tune as she walked back toward the house, her steps light.

At the Grand ins General Hospital, Belinda had been busy all afternoon. Her shift was nearing its end, but duty had pulled her to the emergency department onest time.

When she finally emerged from the room, it was well past the time for her to get off work. As Belinda was heading toward the elevator to leave, her gaze suddenly fell on a bench at the entrance of the department. Someone was sitting there.

The moment Belinda spotted the figure, she instinctively walked over.

“Are you alright?” she asked gently.

The woman was Car. Even though Car was wearing a mask obscuring most of her face, Belinda recognized her immediately.

At the sound of Belinda’s voice, Car looked up, her eyes dim. “Belinda… it’s you,” she replied, her voice barely more than a whisper.

Belinda’s brow furrowed. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”

Car gave a faint shake of her head. “Just a slight fever—nothing serious.”

Unconvinced, Belinda reached out andid the back of her hand against Car’s forehead. The heat pulsing from Car’s skin startled her. “You’re burning up—this must be well over 103°F. This is serious.”

Car gave a weary sigh. “At first, it was just a mild fever. I figured I’d sleep it off, but it only got worse over time.”

Belinda was about to say something when the hospital loudspeaker crackled to life, calling out Car’s name.

“Come on, I’ll apany you,” she said, slipping an arm around Car to guide her toward the consultation room.

Inside, the attending doctor looked up, surprised to see Belinda. “Dr. Wright?”<fnb508> Th?s chapter is updated by Find_Novel(.</fnb508>

Belinda smiled and gestured toward Car. “This is a friend of mine. She’s running a high fever; could you check her temperature?”

“Of course,” the doctor replied without hesitation and took Car’s temperature.

The thermometer disyed a reading of 103.1°F. It was clear Car wasn’t just feverish—signs of mild dehydration were already setting in. An IV drip was promptly rmended.

Belinda escorted Car to the infusion room, settling her in before stepping out to handle the billing and registration.

Once the IV was in ce, Car turned to her, eyes soft with gratitude. “Thank you, Belinda. I really mean it.”

Belinda’s tone remainedposed. “You’re wee. I happened to be here; I couldn’t just walk away. But why did youe here alone? Where are Baker and Kylee?”
