Chapter 1644

    ?Chapter 1644:

Sarai’s gaze sharpened, her mind racing. She understood all too well what the person was saying. Belinda’s presence ensured Lucas wouldn’t even nce her way.

Sarai wasn’t naive; she understood whoever was calling had their own agenda. Keeping herposure, she asked, “What’s the cost of your help? What do you want from me?”

The voice didn’t hesitate, ying their intentions bare. “No need to worry. I just want us to work together to deal with Belinda. With your identity, your involvement would make this whole thing easier.”

Taking a deep breath, Sarai pressed further. “What’s your n for dealing with Belinda?”

“That’s not something I can share yet. Once youmit to working with me, I’ll reveal the n step by step,” the voice replied.

After a pause, the voice added, “So, Sarai, have you made up your mind? Are you in or not?”

Instead of answering, Sarai said, “Who exactly are you? What grudge do you have against Belinda?”

The voice grew sharp, tinged with frustration. “I’ve told you, that’s not your concern.”

Sarai held her ground, her tone resolute. “If we’re going to be partners, there needs to be trust. I believe the most basic premise of a partnership is honesty, isn’t it? But now, you’re refusing to share the most basic information with me. How can I trust that you’re sincere about working with me? How do I know you’re not someone sent by Belinda to test me?”

“Me, on Belinda’s side? That’s ridiculous!” The robotic voice crackled with agitation.

“How would I know?” Sarai shot back, her voiceced with a mocking scoff.

“Forget it. If we can’t see eye to eye, let’s just drop it. You can keep waiting tables.” Irritated, the caller abruptly ended the call.

Sarai’s face stayedposed, betraying no hint of concern. Even though the person said they didn’t want to work with her anymore, she wasn’t worried. If they genuinely needed her help, she was confident they would reach out to her again.

All she had to do was wait. Even in a partnership, she couldn’t allow herself to be at a disadvantage. Yet, beneath her poised exterior, a storm of doubt and indecision churned within her.

Sarai deeply regretted that her rtionship with Belinda had deteriorated to this point. It was thest thing she wanted. Yet, after the recent incident, it became painfully clear that Belinda’s animosity toward her hadn’t diminished in the slightest.

As Holley had pointed out, she had crossed a line in Belinda’s eyes, making forgiveness impossible. Belinda had been the one to show her no mercy first. So why should she feel any obligation to care about her?<fn68a4> The rightful source is find{n}ovel</fn68a4>

More importantly, there was a driving force behind her actions—she was hopelessly in love with Lucas. She yearned to be with him. But as long as Belinda remained in the picture, Lucas would never even look her way.

If Belinda were somehow removed from the equation, things could change for the better. Sarai had to admit that the mysterious caller’s words had nted a seed in her mind. Those words now lingered like a haunting mantra, circling relentlessly in her thoughts.
