Susanna clutched the cor of her hoodie, awkwardly turning away. "I was actually nning to go see my mom at ck Gate today."
She was really shaken up after what Hull had put her through.
If she had to get into a fight right now, the first thing she''d notice was how much her legs hurt.
All Yvonne had been teaching her these past weeks was basically how to run for her life.
And now, thanks to Hull, her legs felt like someone else''s. If she had to make a run for it, there was no way she''d get away.
She''d have to stand her ground and fight.
When Susanna mentioned visiting her mom at ck Gate, Hull''s expression shifted for a split second.
"You''re heading to ck Gate?" he asked.
Susanna nodded. "Yeah."
Why had she started training with Yvonne in the first ce? It was all because she wanted to go back to ck Gate and help her mom.
After twenty brutal days by Yvonne''s side, Susanna realized she wasn''t as afraid of the chaos swirling around her mom anymore.
The worst thing in a suffocating situation? Fear.
Somehow, in just those few weeks, Yvonne had managed to knock that fear right out of her.
Now, all that was left was to dive in and see what she could pull off.
Hull frowned, pouring her a ss of milk and handing it over. "You shouldn''t go to ck Gate just yet."
"Huh?"
Hull exined, "I''ve already sent some of my people to help your mom. Things are under control there now-your mom''s in a strong position."
Susanna stared. "Wait, you sent people to help my mom? And things are actually stable now?"
ck Gate was notorious for being a mess. The idea that it was now under control was almostughable.
Hull just looked at her. "What?"
Susanna fell silent, meeting his usually icy gaze, which now seemed a little softer. She hesitated. "Why are you helping me so much?"
Their original deal had only been that he''d help her see her mother. But now he''d sent his own people to help her mom out.
Was this... above and beyond? Or was there something else going on? Especially considering how he''d been all over her since yesterday-it was like he was paying himself back in apletely different way.
Susanna gave Hull a weird look.
Hull frowned. "What''s with that look?"
Susanna coughed awkwardly, mumbling, "You... you don''t happen to like me, do you?"
Hull: "???"
Susanna pressed on, "Is that why you''re doing all this? Trying to get in your future mother-inw''s good graces?"
That had to be it, right?
She''d never thought of herself as
especially confident or a
heartbreaker. Star always joked she
had short legs and wasn''t even
Hull''s type.
But... if she wasn''t his type, why did he keeping back for more?
She didn''t bother beating around the bush-just asked outright.
Hull blinked, taken aback by her boldness, then reached out and tilted her chin up
with his long fingers. "What do you think?"
"I mean, I think I''m pretty-" she
started, but stopped when she noticed where his eyes were lingering. Susanna nced down and realized he was staring at her chest.
Ah, so t!
Okay, not totally t, but she definitely wasn''t... well, stacked.
"Heh, I still have a chance to develop,
you know. Maybe if you feed me
betto put in some effort,''ll
and
grow a bit more?" she joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Hull''s face darkened. "That mouth of yours..."
He never realized before how sharp her tongue could be.
Seeing him get all serious, Susanna pouted. Geez, touchy.
But she was telling the truth! It''s not like girls are born with everything-they have to grow into it!
Hull''s expression returned to his usual sternness.
"Finish your breakfast and get changed. Meet me at the beach."
Susanna groaned. "Again? What for?"
"Don''t feel like training anymore?" He shot her a look before striding out of the
room.
Susanna was left gaping. He''d gone through all this trouble to get her away from Yvonne, and now he wanted to train her himself?
What a hassle.
Her heart thumped nervously, especially after seeing the look on Hull''s face
before he left. Was he even tougher than Yvonne?
Yvonne''s training methods were already torture.
"I''m still recovering, you know," Susanna grumbled under her breath.
Not that Hull heard her he was already out the door.
Thesest twenty days, Susanna had been genuinely traumatized by training,
especially with how dead-serious Yvonne always was.
She''d tried to quit and flop on the floor more than once.
But Yvonne always had some way to get her back up and keep her going.
