Godric said nothing.
He stood where he was, and the aura around him slowly settled down. But the killing intent in his eyes had not weakened in the slightest.
He knew the Elders were right. The Celestial Pce was powerful, but it was not invincible. If they acted recklessly, they really could be pushed into a disaster with no way back.
But every time he thought about the three destroyed Sacred Mountains, the three dead True Immortal elders, the two Ghost n Sacred Paragons, and his two disciples, Lucian and Lyria, the fire inside him refused to die down.
Those had all been experts the Celestial Pce had poured countless years of effort into raising. They were major pieces in his hold over the Fourteenth Firmament. They were the foundation that kept the Celestial Pce in its ce.
And now all of them had been destroyed by Jared.
How could he possibly let Jared off just like that?
Lucian and Lyria, even more than the others, had been the disciples he trusted most. They were his right and left hands, men and women who had followed him for years and rendered service again and again.
Now they had both died by Jared''s hand, their souls scatteredpletely.
This blood debt had to be paid.
Godric''s expression kept shifting. One moment, his face was thick with killing intent. The next, it sank into heavy thought.
The air in the hall turned oppressive again. All the Elders stood with their heads lowered, not daring to speak for fear of disturbing him.
The Great Elder saw the hesitation on his face and knew exactly how hard the struggle inside him was. He opened his mouth again.
His voice dropped lower, and a dark edge slipped into it as he leaned closer to Godric and spoke in a near whisper:
"Hall Master, this subordinate does have a n. It can kill Jared and avenge the elders and disciples who died, without draining the strength of our Celestial Pce. And if we borrow someone else''s hand, we can even weaken the Draconians at the same time."
A sharp light shed through Godric''s eyes. He turned to the Great Elder at once, voice tight with urgency.
"Speak. Hurry up and tell me what this n is."
The Great Elder smiled faintly. He lowered his voice again, leaned close to Godric''s ear, and spoke slowly.
"Hall Master, do you still remember why the Draconians suddenly went into hiding and split apart many years ago?"
Godric''s brow lifted. A flicker of confusion crossed his face, then it cleared just as fast. He said in a low voice, "You mean... the demon? And those Demon Dragons that turned to them?"
The Great Elder nodded, and a cold gleam cut through his eyes.''
"Exactly. Back then, civil strife broke out inside the Draconians. One side wanted peaceful coexistence with the demon, and the other opposed itpletely. The two sides fought fiercely, and the Draconians were torn apart because of it.
Among them, part of the n was so bent on seizing control of the Draconians that they were willing to turn to the demon race, cultivate demonic arts, and transform into Demon Dragons."
"Those Demon Dragons and the orthodox Draconians cannot exist under the same sky. Their hatred runs through generations. The moment they see a member of the orthodox Draconians, they fight until one side dies."
He paused, then went on.''
"Since Jared carries the Dragon Sovereign Bloodline and is a descendant of the orthodox Draconians'' royal line, he is bound to be the sworn enemy of the Demon Dragon Lineage.
Why not send someone to contact the Demon Dragon Lineage in secret and leak Jared''s whereabouts to them? Then we can use their hands to get rid of him."
"That way, the Celestial Pce won''t have to make a move. We avoid draining our strength, and we can let the Demon Dragons and the orthodox Draconians ughter each other and weaken both sides. One move, two gains."
Godric fell silent for a moment. Then that same sharp light shed in his eyes again, and a smile slowly spread across his face.
It was killing with a borrowed de.
This n really was a good one.
He could get his revenge, take no risk, and sit back while reaping the benefit.
"Killing with a borrowed de... not bad. That''s a good idea."
Godric nodded, a trace of approval in his voice. But the next moment, his brows drew together again.''
"But the Demon Dragon n moves in the shadows. For ten thousand years, they''ve stayed hidden in the depths of the Demon Marches and never had contact with the outside world. How are we supposed to reach them?"
The Great Elder smiled again and drew out a dark red jade slip from his sleeve.
A faint demonic aura drifted from the jade slip. It looked strangely sinister.
"Hall Master, there''s something you don''t know. Before the Demon Dragon Lineage left the Draconians and joined the demon, they had a brief stretch of cooperation with the Celestial Pce.
They left behind a way to contact them. This jade slip was what the Demon Dragon Lineage left back then, and inside it is the method for reaching them."
"We haven''t had any use for this jade slip all these years. Now it finally has a purpose."
Godric took the jade slip. His fingertip moved slightly as his spiritual soul sank into it.
A momentter, a cold smile appeared on his face. He nodded.''
"Good. Very good. I''ll leave this matter to the Great Elder. Remember, this must be done in secret. No one can know. Especially not the people from the Celestial Basilica and the Celestial Pce. If thewinterfere things will get troublesome."
"This subordinate obeys!"
The Great Elder bowed and said with full respect, "Hall Master, rest easy. This subordinate will handle it
properly, till
contact the Demon
Dragon Lineage as soon as possible and have them move against Jared, so the dead Elders and Grand
Vénerables can be avenged."
Godric nodded. Then he turned and looked out at the sea of clouds beyond the hall. The killing intent in his eyes turned grim and dense, and his voice came out cold.''
"Jared... you destroyed my Sacred Mountain, killed my Elders, and ruined my disciples. Sooner orter, I''m going to settle this debt with you."
"For now, I''ll let the Demon Dragons y with you first. Let you have a taste of what
it''s like to be hunted down. And after you''re dead, I''ll personally lead the Celestial Pce''s experts to the Greywild Mountains and wipe out everyst remnant of the Draconians, so there''ll never be trouble again."
When thest word fell, the air around Godric turned cold again.
That killing intent seemed ready to pierce straight through the great hall, reach into the distance, and tear Jared into pieces.
The Great Elder bowed and stepped aside, already calcting how to contact the Demon Dragon Lineage as fast as possible and carry out the task Godric had given
him.
The other Elders also let out the breath they''d been holding. Atst, the Hall Master had calmed down and had not made a reckless move that would drag the Celestial Pce into danger.
