 1 Prologue

    Si Yi Lei woke up due to a bright light. Searing pain shot through her whole body as she tried to get up.

    The old lady stared at her silently and speechlessly. Where was the attitude of a person who realized they had died? Was this girl sick?


    Si Yi Lei brushed off dirt from her dress, and then plopped her butt back down onto the floor again.


    Although it was the 24th century, people still wore clothing similar to the Chinese of the past. Technology had certainly improved by leaps and bounds, but cultivation and other martial arts are still more commonly used.

Skill manuals, rare books, pills she refined, beasts she contracted, armaments she made, and even a few houses of food and survival supplies. . .

    The old lady was speechless as she watched Si Yi Lei disappear from before her eyes. She jumped up when she realized what Si Yi Lei was holding.


    "Stinky brat! Isn''t that the talisman of reincarnation?! Where did you get that? Do you know how precious it is?! Get back here!" The old lady screamed at empty space, waving her cane around madly.


    Somewhere else, Si Yi Lei had just opened her eyes. It was the first time trying to move her new body, and it took some time for her to manage sitting up.


    For a moment, she was dazed, wondering why the hell she was sleeping in an unfamiliar bed.


    Everything that had happened rushed into her brain, making her want to smack herself.


    That''s right, how could she forget. . .


    She had transmigrated into another body.


    Si Yi Lei wondered who''s body she had taken over. Maybe the original owner was an engineer, or . . .


    "Idiot master!"


    A voice in her head snapped her out of her thoughts.

    A sharp pain tore at the corners of her mind as memories of the body''s previous owner flooded her mind.


    This was not the dimension or time period Si Yi Lei was familiar with. This place was called Starlight Continent, and the time period was way back by a few thousand years or so.


    The previous owner was named Yu You Lei, and was the fifth young miss of Yu Jiang Jun''s residence in the East Kingdom. Pampered by her father despite being a troublemaker and having no innate talent, Yu You Lei simply took everything thing for granted. She would abuse her position as a daughter of Yu Jiang Jun, earning the distain of commoners.


    Her mother, Yan An Li, was Yu Jiang Jun''s most beloved woman. She had died while giving birth to Yu You Lei, causing General Yu to dote heavily on Yu You Lei. Yu You Lei was the only remainder Yu Tian Yuan had left of Yan An Li.


    Although Yu You Lei was doted on by her father, the same didn''t go for the rest of her family members. They saw her as a disgrace, secretly pointing behind her back.


    The only reason they didn''t make a move yet was because of Yu Jiang Jun.


    That didn''t mean they couldn''t pull some strings behind the scenes.


    Yu You Lei''s 15 year old half-sister, Yu You Jia, poisoned her food when she was only 3 years old!


    Of course, it was Yu You Jia''s mother who influenced her actions.

    Most people would take 2-3 years to learn how to comprehend spiritual qi, taking two years to break through each level of purple, and three years to cross the boundary between purple and blue. Following that, it would be a year increase for the time taken to break through each level.

    Around this time, Si Yi Lei shook her head. Her current situation was too similar to those Wuxia novels she loved reading in her past life.

    Once everyone heard this news, it was clear that the future of Yu You Lei was bleak.

    How could the crown prince marry a soiled woman such as her?

    Who would have guessed that just before the deadline was over, the original Yu You Lei managed to find her way back home alive by some miracle.


    However, as soon as she made it to the door of the General''s residence, she had fainted. Only Si Yi Lei knew that Yu You Lei had actually died at that time. It was the exchange of souls that caused her to fall into a coma instead, and Yu You Lei woke up from the coma as a completely different person.

 3 Chapter Two

    Si Yi Lei-


    Or should we say, Yu You Lei cleared her mind and stood up. She knew she would have to fully settle into her new body by getting revenge for the original owner first. After that, she simply planned to live the rest of her life in peace.


    The maidservant next door thought she heard Yu You Lei shift in her bed, but didn''t think anything of it.


    The doctor said that Yu You Lei might die at any moment, and there was no chance for her to wake up. How could this trash young miss suddenly achieve a miracle?


    The maidservant ignored the continuous shuffling sounds and went back to her work.

    She again felt around for the wisp of soul which was what remained of the original owner.

Actually, she was quite surprised a seeming trash''s soul could hang around for so long. It was quite difficult to achieve such a feat, and it would require a lot of mental power.


    Mental power was another thing aside from cultivation. There were four components to strengthening oneself. The mind, the body, the soul and the cultivation.


    It was clear that this body didn''t rank well on the body and cultivation aspects, but as for the other two, they were quite high even before the new Yu You Lei took over.


    Now that she''d taken over, the mental fortitude increased by leaps and bounds, but the soul power dropped. Yu You Lei reminded herself to strengthen her soul in the future, and also find a way to try and bind herself fully with her new body before even getting revenge.


    The soul seemed satisfied, and slowly disappeared.

    All that remained in the dark, empty void known as Yu You Lei''s soul was a soft and delicate voice saying those words. They echoed around the endless void and eventually disappeared.


    All traces of the end of of the original Yu You Lei''s soul disappeared completely.


    Yu You Lei slowly got up from the bed and looked around her room. It was simple yet elegant, surprising her as it didn''t seem like a room such an arrogant lass would be willing to live in. Maybe she had been different from what Yu You Lei thought.


    She wanted to ask questions, but. . .


    It''s too late anyways, the soul is already gone, even if she were her previous self there would be nothing she could do.


    The room, albeit simple, was decorated with tons and tons of paintings and little gadgets. A musical instrument here, a pill furnace there. . .

    Yu You Lei closed her eyes and when she opened them again, they flashed with a cold light.


    A sneer played on her lips.


    She, Yu You Lei, was not one to ever forgive and forget!


    She was very petty, and loved to hold grudges!


    Even in her past life, a single dollar borrowed had to be returned! Even if she was rich, you can''t just cheat her of even a single cent and get away with it!

    It seemed like flowing water, gentle and made people subconsciously relax. If not for the original owner''s personality, it would have been really pleasant to hear.


    Sadly, all the previous owner did was whine, complain and curse. These things would not be pleasant to the ears, no matter how nice the voice sounded.

    Instead of whining and screaming like the previous owner would have done, Yu You Lei sniffled in a dignified way despite crying! This made it seem as if she were performing an art instead of experiencing pain. Making people treat her like glass, and be unable to help but want to protect her!


    The maidservant natrually wasn''t immune to Yu An Chen''s ''charms'', and, abandoning all her previous opinions of this trash, rushed forward to help her up.


    "Young miss! Young miss! Are you alright? Don''t scare this servant, okay?!"


    The maidservant was ready to knock her own head against the wall. How could she have ignored the Young Miss?


    She deserved to die!


    The maidservant carefully shook Yu You Lei''s shoulders.


    Yu You Lei seemed to have fainted, not responding to anything the servant did.


    The servant felt tears well up in her own eyes.


    Aiyo, even if she gets killed it''s alright.

    The maidservant, You Ping, nodded her head determinedly. With tears in her eyes, she hiked up her skirt and ran directly towards Yu Jiang Jun''s house.


    You Ping didn''t see the mischievous smile on Yu You Lei''s face that had appeared after she left.

 4 Chapter Three

    "Master, Master, the Fifth Young Miss woke up, but she fainted again!"


    The shout rang throughout the whole of Yu Jiang Jun''s courtyard. You Ping didn''t care about her own life at this point, sincerely wanting to ''save'' Yu You Lei''s instead.


    There was no reaction from inside the courtyard.


    You Ping completely disregarded the guards outside of Yu Jiang Jun''s office. She rushed in and immediately feel to her knees.


    Yu Jiang Jun looked up from the scroll he was reading. His brows furrowed. The whole family business wasn''t doing so well, and he hoped to be able to pass it on to his more capable son soon. He was never good at these kinds of things.


    Hearing the shouting servant who''d ran inside his study without restrain, his mood became even worse.


    "What is it? What''s gotten you do panicked? Stand up and speak properly!" Yu Jiang Jun shouted at You Ping. This servant actually dared to enter his office without permission! Isn''t that just slapping him in the face?


    "Fifth young miss has woken up, but she. . . She. . . Fainted again shortly after!". You Ping forced that out of her in throat. Despite not fearing death, seeing a General staring at you was still scary!


    "What?" Yu Jiang Jun didn''t say much more and simply rushed out of his room, leaving You Ping still kneeling on the floor, not daring to get up.


    Yu You Lei waited in her room with an expression of ''pain'' on her face. From what she could tell, there was nobody else in her courtyard, as they had abandoned their duties. They thought a dead person would tell no tales, so they dared to defy Yu Jiang Jun''s orders and ran off to play.


    Although Yu You Lei''s current body had a trash physique, and absolutely no muscle at all due to being spoilt by the General, she still read countless of martial books and similar stuff in her previous life! Some things, such as sensing the surroundings, just needed one to have a good grasp of the concept. Not only that, the previous Yu You Lei has a great mental fortitude, laying a stable foundation for all these mental techniques.


    Yu You Lei could be considered an expert in sensing people nearby. Various powers would try to assassinate her from time to time, and her instincts were transferred to this body.


    Also, the previous Yu You Lei had been forced to read many books by the General. Despite truly loving this daughter, he sincerely wished for her to have a good future, therefore making her read every book he could get his hands on.

    That ''innocent'' expression was just like what a young child Yu You Lei''s age would have when planning on causing trouble.


    Her appearance, although beautiful, was still not fully matured. It still held the innocence of a child. With that expression of mischief on her face, she was simply a little girl planning some harmless joke!


    Though, this joke she planned wasn''t all that harmless.


    Didn''t her sister cause her to lose her reputation? Good, she''d start off her revenge with simple tricks and work her way up until Yu You Jia died from shame!


    The ''guards'' that Li Juan Tian sent watched in confusion as Yu You Lei giggled to herself. Wasn''t she in pain a few moments ago?


    They were trained from a young age to spy and kill, only knowing to obey their masters. Even then, they still couldn''t help but feel that this Yu You Lei was too cute.


    They were dumbfounded when they saw her run out of her room and towards her sister, Yu You Jia''s courtyard.


    Based on Yu You Lei''s calculations, it would take around half an hour for the General to get to her room. You Ping would take around fifteen minutes to get to the General''s courtyard, and it would take five minutes for her to rely the news. The General would rush to her room in a hurry, giving her around 20-30 minutes for her to do her thing.


    Yu You Lei quickly headed to the direction of Yu You Jia''s courtyard, the hidden ''guards'' following her in confusion.


    She went through the method of voice manipulation in her head.


    In her past life, Yu You Lei was an expert at manipulating her voice, along with most other things, actually. She was able to make herself sound like anything she wanted. She could also use a special method to make her voice sound louder at a distance. It would seem like shouting.


    Yu You Lei wasn''t certain if the method would work in this world, but the previous owner had seen a book regarding the very same method, which was why Yu You Lei was confident her plan would work.


    She checked the surroundings for any servants after stopping a few meters away from the door.


    In the eyes of the hidden ''guards'', she was doing a few strange motions with her hands. They stared at her, wondering if she was alright.


    Soon after, she cupped her hands around her mouth and cleared her throat.


    Mimicking You Ping''s panicked voice, she whispered, "Fifth Young Miss! Why have you fainted? Wait here, this servant will go look for General Yu immediately!"


    Her voice was an exact replica of You Ping''s, and it seemed as if she was shouting from her courtyard! However, only Yu You Jia could hear this.


    Shuffling noises came from inside the room, and upon hearing that, Yu You Lei knew her job was done.


    She turned around and ran all the way back to her room, falling to the ground with an expression of ''pain'' on her face.


    Just in time, too, because soon after, Yu You Jia burst into Yu You Lei''s room.


    Upon seeing Yu You Lei in ''pain'' on the floor, she couldn''t help the malicious grin crawling on her face.


    "Trash! After all these years, your end is finally here. I''ll see how you can still survive after drinking the poison!" Aiming a kick at Yu You Lei, Yu You Jia''s eyes burnt with hatread and jealousy. Years of seeing this piece of trash being doted on by her father, and even being engaged to the crown prince, how could the arrogant girl stand it?


    The hidden guards made a mental note to tell Li Juan Tian about the hidden side of Yu You Jia.


    To think he was planning on marrying her after ditching Yu You Lei. . .


    Yu You Jia raised her hand, planning to slap Yu You Lei when suddenly. . .

 5 Chapter Four

    "Yu You Jia!"


    Yu Jiang Jun burst into the room just in time to see Yu You Jia retracting her hand. He didn''t see her slapping Yu You Lei, but he most certainly saw her trying to hide the ''evidence''.


    He was fuming mad upon seeing his eldest daughter ''slapping'' his youngest one.


    "Explain this!" He boomed.


    Yu You Lei ignored her father''s shouts and peeked at her siblings and family. They had been attracted by Yu Jiang Jun''s shout of "What?" and came running over. Everyone was there, including the concubines, the main wife and all their children. Yu You Jia went through her memories and made a basic profiles for the family as she lay on the floor, tears still silently streaming down her face.


    The General had a total of one main wife and four concubines, each of them having given birth to one child. One of them, Yu You Lei''s mother Yan An Li, was dead. She left behind one sole child, Yu You Lei who was doted on by the General heavily. This was the person who''s body was taken over by the new Yu You Lei.


    In the past, she was well-known for being overbearing, arrogant and rude without reason. She had absolutely no talent in anything whatsoever, and spent her days trying to win the love of the crown prince. She was looked down upon by everyone, commoners and high class families alike, and had almost no friends whatsoever, except for maybe one or two.


    His main wife, Li Ming Hui, was one of the daughters of the current Emperor. The Emperor had forced Yu Jiang Jub to marry her into his family in order to establish connections. The whole time, though, the only person Yu Jiang Jun truly loved was Yan An Li.


    Li Ming Hui had given birth to one daughter, Yu You Jia. She was the First Young Miss of the family.


    Another concubine was name Hui Wen Le, the mother of the Third Young Miss Yu You Lou.


    His two other concubines, Jun Wen Xuan and Tang Fu Mei had given birth to two sons, Yu Yuan Fu and Yu Yuan Jin respectively.


    Yu Yuan Fu was the Second Young Master, while Yu Yuan Jin was the Fourth Young Master.


    Yu Jiang Jun truly loved all his children, but doted on Yu You Lei the most.


    Yu You Jia had beautiful looks, but compared to Yu You Lei, she was nothing. However, the girl was talented in martial arts and had great potential. At only 15, she was already breaking through to the blue level.


    This was already considered a genius. Most started cultivation at the age of 6, and it would take around 5 years to break through to the first level of purple, however she did so within 3 years. It would take another 3-4 years to break through to the next level of purple, but Yu You Jia actually managed to do so withing two years, and this was the same for the next level of purple.


    By 13, she was at purple peak level, and needed another 2 years to approach the barrier of blue low level. She kept up the appearece of a delicate and refined lotus flower at all times, earning the love of commoners and important ministers alike. However, Yu You Jia was in reality a sly, cunning and petty little girl. She was stubborn in a bad way, and had little brains. It was only because of her mother did she manage to survive and keep up a good reputation.


    She definitely on Yu You Lei''s list of people to get revenge on. She had plotted against Yu You Lei from a young age. She was the reason her reputation plumentted!


    Yu Yuan Fu was the heir to the family fortune. He was not devilishly handsome, but could be considered to be delicate and refined. He gave off a scholarly air, and had decent talents in cultivation, achieving purple high level at the age of 14.


    His true talent laid in music, business and writing. Although Yu Jiang Jun''s family was one of war and battles, they still depended on stores in the capital for money. This was where managing the family business came in.


    Yu Yuan Fu could be considered an expert at. . . Deceiving people. He was really just a corrupt businessman in the making. However, for the good of the family, he was the best choice. Anyway, except for doing business, he also had a flair for writing poems and playing the zither. Some of his poems had already spread around the capital, and whenever he played the zither in the palace, he would always win the applause of the royal family.


    Despite his corrupt nature while doing politics and the like, he still had acceptable morals when it came to everyday life. He never struck at Yu You Lei when she was down, but never really helped her either. Yu You Lei decided she would give him a choice as to whether he would join her side or suffer.


    The Third Young Miss Yu You Lou was talented in alchemy and medical subjects. Another delicate beauty. She could refine ninth grade pills at the age of 14. She knew all the acupuncture points on a human body, as well as how to treat most illnesses. She could be considered a great doctor for her age, but didn''t focus on cultivation, hence she was only at purple low level. She had her own clinic where she would treat patients or hire people to.


    At first she had opened it out of kindheartedness as a child, treating any beggar who needed her help. Back then, she was still close with Yu You Lei. However, as Yu You Lei''s reputation dropped, so did Yu You Lou''s affection for this younger sister. And as her skills in medicine increased, so did her greed. The clinic eventually grew, but beggars would be thrown out.


    The cost for treatment was insane compared to other places where you could get the same treatment, but people still visited the place. Yu You Lou soon became one of Yu You Jia''s minions, joining Yu You Jia in tormenting Yu You Lei. She was also another on the list.


    The Fourth Young Master Yu Yuan Jin was a martial arts God. At 13 years old, he could beat most experts, but only when spiritual qi was not used.


    He was at purple high level, yet another prodigy. He was an expert in strategies and battle tactics, along with beast taming, often joining his father in the army camp from time to time.


    He would not inherit the family business, but he would inherit the family''s military, to continue the legacy of the Yu Army.


    His looks were more masculine than his older brother, and could be considered handsome, though he had not fully matured yet. Even at such a young age, though, he had many ''fans'' in the capital. He was arrogant at times, but knew when to back off. Yu An Chen felt that this older brother of hers would make a good ally, and made a mental note to get him on her side.


    After her analysis of the children, she moved on to the concubines and the main wife. Before she could start making notes, though, Yu Jiang Jun''s demand of, "Hurry up and explain!" Caused Yu You Jia to burst out in tears, causing a commotion.


    All the concubines and Li Ming Hui rushed over to Yu You Jia. Li Ming Hui sincerely wanted to comfort her daughter, however, the rest just wanted to fan the flames.


    Yu You Lei watched in amusement through a crack in her eyelids as the real life Chinese drama unfolded right before her.

 6 Chapter Five

    Yu You Lei couldn''t stop the corner of her mouth from twitching as she heard the fake sympathy in the voices of the concubines.


    Really?


    Aren''t you being a bit too obvious here?


    The hidden guards watched the women crowding around Yu You Jia, and noted the twitching of Yu You Lei''s mouth.


    They had a good grasp of what she had planned, and had to say they were impressed, considering her reputation Yu You Lei actually had a decent amount of brains. However, this plot would be considered shallow if not for her reputation. The guards didn''t know that Yu You Lei was simply warming up!


    One of the hidden guards nodded to the rest and used his qi gong to fly away, towards the direction of Li Juan Tian''s residence.


    The rest watched with baited breath as Yu You Lei pretended to get up groggily, still in pain.


    She let out a scream of ''fear'' when she saw Yu You Jia, and burst into tears. These tears were bigger and more beautiful than Yu You Jia''s, making Yu Jiang Jun unconsciously partial to Yu You Lei.


    The guards watching were once again speechless. Who was the victim here?


    Tears dripped down Yu You Lei''s already tearstained cheeks, along with the slap mark from You Ping, it really seemed as if she had been slapped by Yu You Jia!


    Yu Jiang Jun decided he didn''t need to hear Yu You Jia''s explanation and raised a hand as if about to slap her. After a few moments of hesitation, he put his hand back down.


    Yu You Jia was still his daughter. He truly couldn''t bring himself to hurt her directly.


    Yu Jiang Jun took a deep breath to try and calm himself down.


    "Explain."


    One word from the Yu Jiang Jun made Yu You Jia burst out in even more tears. It seemed as if the two young girls were having a competition!


    Yu You Jia raised one shaking finger and pointed at Yu You Lei.


    "S-she . . . I have been wronged!"


    Yu You Lei scoffed in her head. Want to beat her in being pitiful? I''d like to see you try!


    Even more tears flowed down her cheeks, and she seemed to be trying to hold it in.


    The third young miss, Yu You Lou, saw this, and she knew Yu You Jia wouldn''t be able to beat Yu You Lei when it came to being pitiful! Therefore, she also burst out in tears, asking Yu Jiang Jun to have mercy.


    Can''t beat you with quality, we''ll just beat you in quantity!


    Yu Jiang Jun was beginning to get a headache.


    Even Li Ming Hui and Hui Wen Le had begun to cry, begging for the General to be impartial and make a correct judgement.


    "Enough!"


    Yu Jiang Jun shouted, eyes flaring as he stared at the crying females.


    He felt that other than Yu You Lei, the others who were crying were really too much! Sobbing loudly and whining, at least Yu You Lei was still silent.


    "I will sort this out. Yu You Jia, it''s obvious that you have slapped your sister. Aren''t you going to apologise?" Yu Jiang Jun glared at Yu You Lou when she tried to speak up. In his heart, he knew that that daughter of him wasn''t the one who slapped Yu You Lei. He knew his daughter''s actions were on the two extremes.


    Either she doesn''t do anything at all, or she puts in all her effort.


    With her level of cultivation, even if she did slap Yu You Lei, the slap marks wouldn''t be so light!


    Adding on to the fact that Yu You Lei was a total waste, her skull probably could be crushed if Yu You Jia put in a bit more effort.

    She turned away, feeling as if apologizing to Yu You Lei had taken out a part of her.


    Yu You Lei only sniffed once and nodded, looking like she was still afraid. She wouldn''t push this matter further, or else they would be suspicious.


    She grimaced, holding a hand up to her cheek and the other one was placed on her chest.


    In Yu Jiang Jun''s mind, he lamented that it was indeed Yu You Lei who was the best. She''d forgiven her sister immediately, despite being in pain.


    "Alright, since Lei''er has forgiven you, you can go." Yu Jiang Jun decided to let Yu You Jia off, seeing as it probably wasn''t her who did it. It was best to take care of Yu You Lei instead of scolding Yu You Jia, either way.


    "You Ping, go fetch the doctor to take a look at the Fifth Young Miss. The rest of you can go." Dismissing everyone, the General shot one last concerned look at Yu You Lei and planned to walk away. Li Min Hui had already run after her daughter, along with Hui Wen Le and Yu You Lou. Only the two sons and their mothers remained behind, sincerely wanting to wish Yu You Lei the best.


    "W-wait! Could father please send someone to help me up. . . ?" The shy and polite voice of Yu You Lei reached everyone''s ears, making most of the servants'' hearts melt. The two concubines were also shocked for a moment, before their hearts swelled up in slight pride. Though Yu You Lei was not their daughter, she was still a part of the family. Seeing she''d matured slightly made them happy, even if the maturity came from a trying incident.


    Previously, the girl probably would''ve screamed for help and practically order her father to send someone. Now, she knew to ask politely!


    "There''s no need!" Without hesitation, Jun Wen Xuan stepped forward to personally help Yu You Lei up. General Yu nodded in approval. At least not all of his concubines were annoying.


    "Thank you." Yu You Lei weakly said, sinking down onto the bed.


    The guards watching only stared intently, wondering what their possible future mistress would do. Her plan to get Yu You Jia into trouble had not been too successful, but what now?


    They were aware the medicine was poisoned, and it seemed that Yu You Lei knew that too, seeing as she pointed at the soup.


    "Concubine mother, could you please. . ." Yu You Lei asked helplessly.


    "Of course!" This time, Tang Fu Mei answered her, picking up the soup and taking a sip to make sure it wasn''t too hot. Just before she brought the spoon to her mouth, she sighed.


    Although pills were more effective, the way the Emperor was treating the Yu residence was becoming worse and worse over the years.


    Not to mention the fact that pills are already hard to get as it is, why would the Emperor give any to the Yu residence and possibly strengthen them? He was afraid they would revolt and try to steal his throne!


    She shook her head slightly and took a sip. However, after taking a sip, she froze, eyes widening as she stared at the soup.


    One should know, each of Yu Jiang Jun''s concubines had a hidden talent. Tang Fu Mei just so happened to be great at medicine and such, therefore was able to tell there was poison in the medicine!


    She threw the bowl of medicine onto the floor, eyes wide in shock as she stared at the doctor who''d just arrived with You Ping.


    The bowl fell with a loud crash, and the soup spilt all over the floor.


    Nobody paid any mind to the soup, though, and focused on Tang Fu Mei instead.


    "What''s wrong with the soup?" Yu Jiang Jun asked, eyebrows furrowed.


    "It''s poisoned!"

 7 Chapter Six

    "How could this be? Doctor Ye, what is the meaning of this?" Yu Jiang Jun naturally knew of his own concubine''s medical ability. He slammed a hand onto the table, almost causing it to break. He raised that hand again, eyes flaring.


    Yu You Lei saw this and weakly reached out to grab her father''s hand.


    "W-wait, let him explain. . ." She coughed and weakly requested. She turned to the stunned Doctor and gave him a sweet smile, saying, "Take your time and explain. I trust you wouldn''t hurt me."


    Doctor Ye''s heart melted at the sight of Yu You Lei''s smile. She stood up for him!


    "Yo- Sigh, Lei''er, you shouldn''t be this kind. . . What if someone takes advantage of you in the future?" The General''s eyes softened and he ruffled Yu You Lei''s hair.


    He turned back to Doctor Ye, his eyes hardening once again.


    "Explain."


    Doctor Ye shot a grateful look at Yu You Lei, then dropped to his knees.


    He lowered his head and rushed to explain the situation.


    "This lowly one was not the one who poisoned the medicine . . . It. . . it was the first young miss, Yu You Jia!"


    Although Doctor Ye was arrogant, in the face of absolute power, he could only lower his pride and kneel down.


    It was more important for him to stay alive!


    "Nonsense!" Yu Jiang Jun had absolute trust in his daughter. He didn''t think she''d do such a thing!


    "Guards, take him away!", The General proclaimed, anger clear in his eyes. How dare a lowly doctor like him try and slander his daughter in front of him?


    "No! General, have mercy! General!" Doctor Ye trashed around a screamed as he was dragged away by guards.


    Yu Jiang Jun watched on coldly as this happened.


    For someone to dare and lie to him like that, they better be prepared to face the consequences!


    "Wait. . ." Just as Doctor Ye was about to be thrown out of the doors, Yu You Lei spoke again.


    She sat up slowly, turning down the help anyone offered her.


    The guards paused, looking at Yu Jiang Jun for approval.


    With a single nod from him, the guards dragged Doctor Ye back in front of the bed, forcing him to kneel again, this time before Yu You Lei.


    Doctor Ye looked up at her in slight gratitude again. She''d saved him twice now!


    "What is it, Lei''er?" Yu Jiang Jun asked his daughter gently. As he saw her getting up independently despite being weak, his eyes flashed with pride and satisfaction for a moment.


    "A-allow him to explain." Yu You Lei sat up with great difficulty, and stared coldly at the doctor kneeling before her.


    Yu Jiang Jun was confused for a moment. Didn''t she believe her sister? Did she think that Yu You Jia would actually use such a heavy hand and poison her own sister? His eyes once again flashed, instead this time with dissatisfaction.


    He didn''t approve of her distrust toward her own blood related kin.


    He was a man who strongly believed in family ties, so his anger wasn''t unfounded. He would naively believe anything anyone from his family told him, which was partly the reason he didn''t know about Yu You Lei being bullied behind his back.


    Yu You Lei smiled on the inside as she looked at that father of hers.


    It seemed he was truly only experienced when it came to wars and battles.


    This type of strong belief and trust in his family, this type of genuine love, care and concern shown for his children, was rare to find.


    Yu You Lei believed the previous owner''s words. Her father was truly a good person, at least when it came to family.


    Realizing that as time passed, Yu Jiang Jun was beginning to become slightly annoyed, Yu You Lei hastened to explain herself.


    "It''s not that I don''t trust First Sister. I really do, she wouldn''t do something like this to me! However, how could we allow someone to slander her like that? If rumours of her poisoning me were to spread out, her reputation would plummet! Only if we clear things up right now, will we be able to keep her safe. . ." Listening to Yu You Lei''s explaintion, Yu Jiang Jun''s heart shook.


    It was true.


    If people heard that Yu You Jia could''ve possibly poisoned her own sister, where would she put her face? She would be scorned for trying to hurt her own family member!


    Yu Jiang Jun glared at Doctor Ye, silently ordering him to explain clearly again.


    Doctor Ye gulped, and began to narrate what happened.


    "I-it''s like this. I did indeed, indeed prepare the medicine, but, but, I . . ." His voice became softer under the glare of Yu Jiang Jun.


    However, upon seeing the gentle and kind gaze of Yu You Lei, he mustered the courage to continue.


    "But I wasn''t the one who poisoned it! I can s-swear on my lif-life, I didn''t add anything harmful into the soup. It was the Eldest Young Miss who i-insisted on personally bri-bringing the soup to the Fifth Young Miss, and it was her who poisoned it!" Doctor Ye proclaimed, repeating his earlier words.


    "How could you say that? What evidence do you have?" Yu You Lei was the first to speak up after his explanation, seemingly in disbelief.


    He didn''t have any evidence, did he? His words could have been twisted! In fact, it sounded like he was actually trying to frame Yu You Jia, and nobody believed him.


    "This. . . " Doctor Ye actually did have evidence, however, if he were to bring it out, he''d expose another fact- he was involved in harming Yu You Lei! Yu You Jia had actually bribed him into telling this story lest their plan to kill off Yu You Lei failed. It was partly true, yet still had falsehood in it, making it seem unfounded and unreliable.


    Everyone was sure to question his words!


    Had he been tricked?


    She wanted him to blame the poison on her.


    She herself had a way to get out of trouble, she claimed. However, it was only at this point did he realize he really was tricked!


    Him saying this meant that Yu You Jia had harmed her own sister, yet without evidence, it was like slander.


    If he brought out the evidence, it would prove he lied, and had indirectly allowed Yu You Lei to almost be poisoned!


    Telling this story was the same as having framed Yu You Jia, but telling the truth meant that he almost allowed Yu You Lei to be hurt.


    Yet, continuing with his story would be the best choice.


    The punishment for harming Yu You Jia would definitely be lighter than that for harming Yu You Lei.


    Just as he was about to give up and claim he didn''t have evidence, a voice sounded from the doorway.


    "Doctor Ye, how dare you, you liar!" The person at the door was no other than Yu You Jia, who rushed back over the moment she heard the commotion. She didn''t want to be exposed!


    If she hadn''t appeared, perhaps she could''ve pulled through without suffering too much damage. However, seeing her push all the blame on him, Doctor Ye got angry.


    He decided, even if it were at the extent of his life, he''d do anything to let the whole world know of Yu You Jia''s vile nature!


    He kowtowed heavily once, before shooting a glare at Yu You Jia.


    "This lowly one would like to admit all his wrongings!" He was going all out to bring down the one who dared to play him like an idiot!


    "Guards, he admits to slandering me! Take him down!" Yu You Jia screeched, trying to stop him from spitting out the truth.


    In fact, Yu You Jia knew the nature of Doctor Ye. He was arrogant, petty and greedy.


    She knew for sure, if he ever realized he had been used, he wouldn''t stop at anything to try and bring her down!


    That was why from the start, Yu You Jia brought guards with her. They were ready to take down the doctor at any given moment.


    "Wait!" Once again, Yu You Lei cut in.


    "What is it? Do you want your sister to be slandered so badly, huh? You s-" Yu You Jia almost let her true nature show for a moment, but quickly covered it up.


    The atmosphere had become rather strange.


    This whole situation escalated into a bunch of lies and fabricated truths!

 8 Chapter Seven

    "No, it''s just that, we still need to clear things up!" Yu You Lei once again explained the rationale behind her interruption, almost infuriating Yu You Jia to death!


    This was the third time Doctor Ye''s life had been saved by Yu You Lei!


    At this point, he was so grateful he could almost cry.


    Guilt swallowed him whole as he remembered the harm a moment of his greed could''ve caused her.


    Realizing the guards and Yu You Jia were staring at him with murderous intent, he quickly tried to clear up the whole situation.


    He didn''t care if he was punished anymore, the truth needed to be revealed! Who asked Yu You Jia to try and push the blame of the whole thing on him?


    "General, I will admit everythin-" Just as he was about to speak, the guards suddenly suddenly pulled out a sword each! They raised their swords simutaniously, wanting to kill Doctor Ye right there and then to silence him.


    As they were about to bring the sword down, a silk ribbon suddenly wrapped itself around both their hands.


    They originally thought with their strength, a measly ribbon wouldn''t be able to do much to stop them, but they didn''t expect to be unable to move at all! No matter how hard they tried to tug their hands away, the ribbon wouldn''t budge.


    They could only watch as Doctor Ye was tugged away by a similar ribbon, and before their eyes, their victim escaped from them!


    Turning to the owner of the ribbons, they were shocked to see she was actually Yu You Lei, the wastrel!


    They wanted to strike out and hit her like they usually would''ve, but under the intense glare of Yu Jiang Jun, they could only watch with gritting teeth as she gently spoke to Doctor Ye.


    "You''re okay now, don''t worry. Please hurry up and explain, I don''t approve of you trying to slander my sister!" Yu You Lei''s words started off comforting, but ending in an annoyed tone.


    It was clear to see that she sincerely just wanted to get to the bottom of things, despite being annoyed by the process!


    The others wanted to question how she managed to use ribbons to stop two blue high-levelled guards from attacking, but held themselves back.


    They knew they''d get a chance to ask her later, after the matter was settled.


    "Thank you, Fifth Young Miss!" Doctor Ye kowtowed heavily, three times this time round. He felt thankful from the bottom of his heart, and was willing to give up his pride for this young lass who saved his life several times! He valued his life more than anything else, unless it was a matter of getting revenge on someone.


    "No need to thank her, just hurry up and explain! What exactly happened?" Yu Yuan Jin furrowed his brows impatiently, wanting to know what actually happened.


    The whole situation was confusing to such a degree, nobody knew what to believe!


    "Answering Fourth Young Master''s question, this lowly one was indeed at fault! It was the Eldest Young Miss who bribed this lowly one into poisoning the medical soup of the Fifth Young Miss, in case she woke up. Yet, she wanted this lowly one to tell everyone the Fifth Young Miss was dead, or had no hope of survival anymore, just so no one would realize the cause of her death was actually the medical soup. After that, she made this lowly one promise to tell the story told earlier. It''s only now I realize, I have been completely tricked by her!" Huffing with anger, Doctor Ye glared at Yu You Jia and handed something to Yu Jiang Jun.


    "General, please look! This is the agreement we signed, and that is obviously the Eldest Young Miss''s signature and handprint!"


    Indeed, it seemed to be true.


    Even the elegant handwriting was Yu You Jia''s, and it wrote out very clearly all the terms to their deal.


    Quickly scanning through the whole thing, Yu Jiang Jun raised his head and glared straight at Yu You Jia.


    "How dare you try and harm your own sister?" Breathing heavily, it was clear Yu Jiang Jun had suffered a heavy blow. He honestly never knew about his daughter''s evil side! He was sure of the truth now. It was exactly as Doctor Ye had said - he himself knew better than anyone his own daughter''s handwriting and signature.


    "What? Father, what Doctor Ye says is true? Eldest sister was the one who bribed him into harming me and forming such a story?" Yu You Lei''s eyes widened in ''shock'', making the people Li Juan Tian sent shake their heads. Too great of an actress, really too great.


    Nodding gravely, Yu Jiang Jun turned his gaze to Doctor Ye.


    "I will let Lei''er do what she wants with you. From now on, you must follow all her orders!" Yu Jiang Jun demanded, deciding to let his daughter choose the doctor''s punishment.


    Kowtowing once more, Doctor Ye actually thanked the General for the punishment. It was better than being killed at that instant. Right?


    He looked over to the shocked Yu You Lei, and decided to continue kneeling and keep his head down for now. She didn''t look to be in the best condition.


    "H-how could this be? Sister, did you rea-" Yu You Lei looked around for Yu You Jia, and let out a gasp.


    "Sister? What are you doing?" Yu You Jia was halfway climbing out the window, obviously looking to escape! Yu You Lei couldn''t help but shake her head on the inside. Truly an idiot, I wonder how she survived all these years. Oh, now she remembers - her mother helped her.


    Such a shame Li Min Hui didn''t follow her daughter over. Otherwise, she possibly could''ve turned the situation around.


    "Slander! Pure slander!" Jumping back on to the floor, she screamed these words hysterically while pointing at Doctor Ye. The spotlight was turned back to Yu You Jia by Yu You Lei in a few words.


    "I will kill you for daring to slander me like this!" Raising a hand, a ball of blue energy began to gather on her palm.


    Who would expect, with a single glare from the General, the ball of energy disappeared?


    "Slander? Isn''t the evidence right there? If it is fake, then why were you trying to escape?" Yu Jiang Jun pointed out these points, glare softening for a moment.


    He didn''t want to believe his own daughter would do such a thing, and offered her a chance to explain herself first. Her trying to escape showed she was truly guilty, yet, maybe she had a reason to try and do so?

    Yu Jiang Jun wanted to speak. The evidence was literally right there, and she still had the face to deny? He was hoping his daughter would say something sensible to explain the situation, but she actually went on to scream and blame her wastrel of a sister!


    Just before he could begin issuing out a punishment for Yu You Lei. . .


    "Fifth Young Miss! Wake up!"

 9 Chapter Eigh

    It appeared that Yu You Lei had fainted from anger.


    Doctor Ye raised his head in alarm and rushed over to Yu You Lei, taking her pulse several times.


    It was only after the fourth time did he breath a sigh of relief.


    "The Fifth Young Miss is okay, she fainted from anger." He informed Yu Jiang Jun, who was staring at his daughter in concern. The general stepped forward and put his hand on Yu You Lei''s pulse for a moment, and looked to be deep in thought.


    "What else do you have to say? Lei''er has already fainted from anger, do you still dare to deny?" Yu Jiang Jun turned back to Yu You Jia after hearing that his beloved daughter was fine.


    He didn''t trust Doctor Ye, but he himself knew some medical arts, and therefore knew it was the truth.


    "T-this. . . the sl*t must be acting! I-" With no more restrain, Yu You Jia let her true nature completely show through.


    Yu Jiang Jun stared at the daughter of his with disappointment. He always had the highest expectations for her, and now it seemed she wasn''t able to meet them.


    "Guards, bring her along. Don''t disturb Lei''er." Turning around coldy, he completely ignored the shrieks and screams of Yu You Jia.


    The others took this as a cue and left too, shooting one last curious looked at Yu You Lei before returning to their own respective places. Their impression of Yu You Jia had completely crumbled today, and they were all disgusted.


    None of them ever knew that Yu You Jia had that hidden side to her; they made a note to avoid her from now on.


    A few wondered what her punishment would be, but didn''t dare to inquire. The aura coming from the confinement building was enough to make them back off.


    After they left, one of Li Juan Tian''s people jumped out of the tree. With a single leap, he entered Yu You Lei''s bedroom and stood beside her.


    The one who left to inform the Crown Prince earlier had come back. He brought news that Yu You Lei would undergo a period of testing, before Li Juan Tian decided whether to truly make her his main wife. As for now, they were to treat her like their mistress.


    Actually, Li Juan Tian wasn''t that bad. He had talent, looks, money, fame, and everything a girl would dream of having. Although he had reasons to he very arrogant, it was still the previous Yu You Lei who was more arrogant than him.


    He himself was humble, modest and kind most of the time. He just couldn''t stand Yu You Lei''s vile nature, and therefore resorted to using unruly methods to deal with her.


    While on the other hand, he''d fallen for Yu You Jia''s "white lotus" act.


    The guards once again made a mental note to inform Li Juan Tian of Yu You Jia''s true nature. They nodded at each other, silently deciding for one person among them to share everything that Yu You Jia did.


    Staring at the unconscious figure on the bed, the one who went off the send news earlier, Bai Wu, followed after Bai Liu and jumped into the room.


    He furrowed his brows. It didn''t seem as if Mistress was acting? Could she have really fainted?


    It was at this moment Yu You Lei got up with a groan, thinking about how idiotic she was being earlier. She couldn''t help but feel like slapping herself.


    When she used the ribbons to stop the guards, it was forcefully drawing energy into her body despite being unable to hold it. That had caused her blood pressure to suddenly drop, therefore she fainted.


    All this, she did just just to save a measly doctor who even tried to poison her. Really makes her want to kill the doctor right there and then!


    However, if she were to kill him off, wouldn''t it be wasted efforts? Fainting for nothing?


    Therefore, she didn''t plan on punishing him immediately.


    If his medical abilities were up to her standards, maybe she could keep him for tasks every now and then. In the future, she would need loyal people on her side, and thus also needed a doctor just in case these people got hurt.


    Doctor Ye delivered himself at her door, so why would she let him go easily?


    Opening her eyes, Yu You Lei realized that there were two men she didn''t know in her room. Instead of jumping up and screaming like most woman in her position would''ve done, Yu You Lei only blinked at them, and then closed her eyes to try and recover a bit more.


    This wasn''t because of anything else, rather, the two had fallen on one knee with a ''thump'' the moment she opened her eyes!


    She still needed to fully assess her current situation before getting revenge, and didn''t have time to bother with these two strangers. She didn''t sense any murderous intent, and she had complete confidence in her abilities to read people, so she wasn''t scared of being killed.


    Yu You Lei checked through her whole body. After a moment, she opened her eyes with a sigh.


    Indeed, that Yu You Jia and her mother were vicious. Using such a poison on her, if not for the fact that the original Yu You Lei had a strong mind, she probably would have fallen victim to the side affects of the poison much earlier!


    The type of poison Yu You Jia had used was called . . . Well, it didn''t officially have a good, sensible name.As a matter of fact, Yu You Lei was actually the only one who knew of it in her past life, and she didn''t expect to come into contact with it again in this life.

    As you can tell, Yu You Lei is very good at naming things.


    Trash Poison was mainly used to make people turn into, well, trash. It would start off by weakening their overall physical condition, and then slowly destroying their meridians, followed by dantian, and ending off with the ability to move their body. While this was happening, there would be side effects - it would eat away at a person''s mind and mental power, eventually rendering a person completely unable to think, act or move. The only downside is that it takes a long time to act.


    The person would practically be no better than a piece of trash lying on the road, which was why Yu You Lei chose such a name in her past life.


    She vaguely wondered if the mother daughter pair knew of this, or just bought the most vicious poison they could find and fed it to her.


    The concept of this poison existing almost a few thousand years in the past and in another world made Yu You Lei slightly concerned. It seemed to be the same, but what if it wasn''t?


    Yet, she''d already consumed the poison, so even if it wasn''t the same, she would have to find some way to get rid of it!


    The only reason Yu You Lei hadn''t become dumb yet was because of her astounding mental power. It would be hard for even such a poison to eat away her mind. Her body, however, was a different story.


    It seemed that the destroying dantian stage had already begun, thus her status as a waste and trash.


    Whatever Yu You Lei lacked in regards to body, she made up for it with her brain. Her body was already naturally weak, and therefore the poison''s effect on her was already considered fast.


    Yu You Lei could only thank her lucky stars, she already knew how to get rid of the poison. However, it''s already been in her system for almost ten years, so it would take some time to completely purge.


    Sighing at the original owner''s misfortune, Yu You Lei went on to examine the other aspects of hee body instead of continuing to dwell on this matter.

 10 Chapter Nine

    Yu You Lei continued to examine her body, not even bothering to let those people kneeling on the floor get up.


    First of all, due to the poison, her body had obviously been weakened quite a lot. What could have been healthy bones, muscles and stuff like that became thin, weak and fragile.


    Yu You Lei could hardly even execute the simplest of martial skills at this stage, not to mention draw spiritual qi into her half-destroyed dantian. The move with the ribbon had also taken a lot out of her, along with running over to her sister''s courtyard and running back.


    Right now, her being unable and unwilling to get out from the bed was not an act!


    If the poison was completely purged, Yu You Lei would probably be able to recover the vigour and strength from her past life in a few years. The potential of this body wasn''t really too bad, and in all honesty, it might even be better than hers in the past.

    There was no need to mention her mental power. It was already top-notch, and almost comparable to a Grade 4 master of any profession. (10 being the lowest, 1 being the highest.)


    One had to know, Grade 2 and 1 masters of any profession were practically stuff of legends. Even then, Yu You Lei was positive that in good time, her mental power would improve slowly but steadily.


    The more pressing problem was her soul. Yu You Lei''s body hadn''t fully accepted her soul yet, and as such, she needed to avenge the original owner as soon as possible. Only then, would the body truly allow her to peacefully possess it.


    Even after getting revenge, however, she would still need a few months of recovery and adapting to completely be accepted.


    With that in mind, Yu You Lei made a list of all the things she needed to do.


    First of all, she needed to get rid of the poison. Next, she would probably need a suitable weapon for. . . Self defense. If the time was ripe, she would try to start on her plans for revenge. If not, she could look for some cultivation manuals, pills and resources, and begin to cultivate.


    After her revenge, she could live a peaceful life in a little cottage, somewhere in a remote village.


    She didn''t want power, fame and glory like in her past life! Look what it cost her?


    All she wanted to do was sleep, eat, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

    She silently grumbled under her breath. It seemed the condition of her body was worse than she thought.


    Yu You Lei looked up, into the bronze mirror in front of her. She was stunned for a moment, seeing the girl in the reflection.


    The girl staring back at her had an all too familiar face.


    Thin eyebrows, high nose, plump, pink lips, brown phoenix eyes, a full forehead, practically flawless snow-white skin. . .


    These were all the features from her past life!


    For a moment, Yu You Lei thought her previous face was identical to this one. Yet, upon closer inspection, she realized there were quite a few differences.


    In her past life, she looked cold, detached, calm and elegant, yet in reality, she was approachable, friendly and loved joking around.


    It seemed as if her new face had brought out all of those more positive features in her.


    She looked approachable and friendly, and her face still held a some of the youthful innocent and playfulness which an inexperienced young lass would have.


    Her bottomless eyes held an endless amount of wisdom, intelligence and cunningness, with a tinge of arrogance.


    Except for her phoenix eyes, her other features all were slightly different from her past life.


    They were much softer, relaxed and a tad bit less beautiful, though still considered stunning compared to all others.


    Without even having fully matured, her features were already showing traces of being able to make cities and countries collapse.


    And, this current face was when Yu You Lei was still poisoned. She knew her looks would become even better after she got rid of the poison.


    Nodding in satisfaction, Yu You Lei stared at the mirror for a moment longer. In the past, she wasn''t some kind of assassin, murderer or anything of the sort.


    She was one of those pampered noble ladies, born with a silver spoon in her mouth.


    Despite that, she still chose to go out and experience the world on her own, against the wishes of her parents. She actually just wanted to find a place to settle down, and rest peacefully forever. . .


    Sure, Yu You Lei enjoyed looking beautiful, finding treasures, living comfortably and most importantly, eating good food. However, she did value the simplicities of life over those, though good food and living comfortably were still a must.


    It was just that, she would much rather live in a comfy hut with the people she cared for forever rather than be surrounded by uptight ministers and treasures.


    She travelled wide and far in her quest to find somewhere peaceful, earning a name for being ruthless to enemies yet kind-hearted to the pitiful ones. Her insane amount of skill meant she was able to become a Grade 5 array master, beast tamer master, alchemist and doctor by the age of 23.


    Her cultivation was also not far off, at orange peak level, this level of power coming right after the fiancee who''d killed her.


    If she were to focus on cultivation instead of all her other occupations, perhaps she''d be at a higher level of cultivation than her fiance when she died.


    She only agreed to the engagement with Long Mu Yuan because it was the best she could do for her parents, who she''d practically abandoned in her quest to, ironically, get them a better life. Her parents just wanted the best for her. They thought if she, someone already famous, were to marry someone equally famous, they''d become the best couple everyone would look up to.


    Yu You Lei never thought that would cause her death. . .


    Staring at her slender figure, Yu You Lei couldn''t help but wonder what poison Long Mu Yuan had used. Even she didn''t detect something strange with it until she drank a mouthful, and she was one of the world''s top experts at poison.


    Deciding it was better to move on with her new chance at life instead of dwelling on her old one, Yu You Lei was just about to find some way to get the herbs when she spotted something on her finger.


    It was a ring which gave off an aura of elegance and coldness, and it looked very familiar to Yu You Lei.

 11 Chapter Ten

    "No way? Is that Little Long?" Yu You Lei exclaimed, staring at the ring on her finger.


    It was her storage ring, the one which held a little world and a whole bunch of benefits.


    She''d named it Little Long because it looked like a dragon which wrapped itself around her finger.


    (As I said, our dear MC is very good at naming things. Long can mean Dragon in Chinese.)


    With it, why would she need to worry about money, herbs, cultivation materials and whatnot?


    Yu You Lei slapped herself harshly for being a complete idiot. Half her brain cells must have died when she transmigrated! She already made a soul contract with her ring, it was obvious it would follow her to her new body.


    Why did she spend time thinking about how to get the suitable items for cultivation and such?


    Yu You Lei didn''t know why she could make a contract with a non-living object, but brushed it off as the grade of the object being very high.


    She unconsciously thought of the voice saying "Idiot master!" A few days ago, but once again brushed it off as her hearing things.


    Already having used the ring for almost three years, she would know if there was a mystical creature inside, right?


    Yu You Lei wanted to jump into the ring immediately, but looked down at the two kneeling on the floor.


    If those two could get inside without her notice, how could she be sure there were no others watching?


    Yu You Lei stared at them for a moment, thinking about whether they would obey her orders. Since they''d already offered themselves to her so sincerely, there was no harm in trying, right?


    "You two, get out. If there are any people watching me, then chase them away. " Yu You Lei coldly ordered.


    She thought her assumption that two would follow her orders was wrong, yet, they actually nodded and swiftly jumped out the window.


    Yu You Lei saw around seven figures leaping out of the tree nearby her window, and was stunned. They all jumped over to a tree further away, and seemed to turn around before stopping.


    Staring at them for a moment longer with the corner of her mouth twitching, Yu You Lei simply shook her head and looked back at her ring. She closed her eyes, hoping this would work.


    With a single thought, she appeared in her little world.


    Bouncing with excitement at the familiar dense spiritual qi in the air, Yu You Lei''s eyes snapped open.


    She was stunned to see the environment around her.


    Sure, it was her little world. There was no change at all to the crystal clear lake, the fertile dirt, the flourishing plants and the happy, peaceful animals, but. . .


    "Where the hell did my treasures and herbs go?" Almost ready to tear out her hair in frustration, Yu You Lei surveyed the empty chests, gardens and buildings around her.


    Her farms filled to the brim with precious herbs were empty, the houses with chests and drawers filled with manuals, pills, and resources were similarly empty.


    Not wanting to believe her eyes, Yu You Lei rushed around, flipping the whole place upside down in trying to find some trace of her treasures.


    Because she was in her soul form, she wasn''t affected by the poison. Her real body was in the real world, and she could move it over if she wished.


    The reason she only moved her soul over was because her body was weak.


    She having problems with her soul just meant it didn''t fit with the body yet. If she didn''t find ways to be accepted, then her cultivation, coordination and control would be affected.


    Other than that, her soul itself was perfectly healthy.


    After running around for almost half a day in the ring, Yu You Lei still couldn''t find any trace of her treasures.


    (one day outside = ten days inside)


    The river with special effects, animals with tasty flesh and forest filled with normal fruits and vegetables were all that was left of her original ring, from what she could see.


    With a defeated sigh, Yu You Lei lay down on the grass near the river and looked into the empty sky. There were no clouds, or a sun, only a dark void which somehow gave off light.


    Yu You Lei was ready to cry from the loss of her things.


    Her herbs! Her treasures! All gone, just like that. . .


    A loud, mournful cry echoed throughout the little world.


    Closing her eyes, Yu You Lei decided she simply wanted to ignore the world forever.


    Something made her eyes snap open.


    She herself couldn''t explain.


    It was as if some ancient aura had caused the hair on her back to stand up. Alarm bells went off in her head, and she jumped up, ready to use the one and only technique she could do as a soul.


    However, she relaxed upon seeing what caused her such a reaction.


    A white dragon, identical to the one her ring was shaped like, flew around over the water.


    Its majestic figure was breathtaking, as it elegantly flew through the air as if swimming in water. The snow-white scales on its body held a metallic sheen, and it glistened under the light from the void. Somehow, Yu You Lei instantly knew this dragon was an ancient creature.


    It must be the creature Yu You Lei made a contract with. She could feel the connection between the two of them.


    Just as she was feeling curious about how she ever overlooked the existence of such a majestic and awe-inspiring dragon, it suddenly began shrinking.


    Slowly, from a dragon, it became a baby one, then it became a lizard, and then finally, it became a fish.


    With a pathetic ''flop'', the fish fell into the water and began swimming in circles.


    "What the hell? Why did it last for a few seconds?" The voice which came from the fish was one familiar to Yu You Lei. It was the one who referred to her as an "Idiot master"!


    Not only was the voice familiar, even the fish itself was familiar.


    Wasn''t that the beautiful white fish with an ugly temperament?


    Always snatching the food from other fish, stealing and eating herbs, Yu You Lei even tried to steam it once!


    Her face darkening for a moment, Yu You Lei wanted to jump into the water. No matter what, she must catch this stupid fish/dragon thing!


    "Wait! Wait! I can explain!" Swimming around faster and faster until it formed a little whirlpool, it caused Yu You Lei to get a headache.


    "Stop and I''ll allow you to explain, or else I''ll catch you and steam you for food!" With this single sentence, the fish immediately stopped swimming around obediently and was almost sucked into the whirlpool it created.


    It was only after struggling for awhile did it successfully escape the dangerous waters.


    Just when it thought all its troubles were over, another danger approached threateningly, in the form of Yu You Lei.

 12 Chapter Eleven

    Yu You Lei didn''t know whether to laugh or cry as she stared at the shaking fish. The thing was idiotic enough to be sucked into a whirlpool it itself created, making Yu You Lei doubt whether it was actually the majestic dragon she''d seen earlier.


    "Explain! Hurry and give me and explaintion! Where did all my treasures go?" Yu You Lei anxiously asked, glancing around to check whether her treasures had suddenly returned.


    The fish in the water stopped shaking, and coughed, making Yu You Lei doubt how the laws of nature worked in her world.


    It was then she remembered, she controlled the elements and environment in her world.


    A smirk growing on her face, she waited another minute to see if the fish would explain itself.


    When it didn''t, Yu You Lei simply raised her hand, and the water surroundings the fish flew into the air, brining the fish itself along.


    "W-wait! Don''t cook me!" It began swimming in circles again, irking Yu You Lei to no end.


    Yu You Lei just wanted to know where her treasures went! She didn''t want anything to do with this idiotic fish!


    "Just explain yourself already!" She lost her patience, and would probably cook this fish/dragon creature if this went on. She didn''t want to risk injuring it in a moment of anger, though, which was why she was so infuriated.


    First of all, the fish might be a dragon, and there was no way Yu You Lei would risk killing an ancient creature in a moment of anger.


    The second reason she needed to hold herself back was because of the stupid contract she made with the ring.


    It was probably this fish whom she made a contract with.


    Hurting or killing it would be the same as hurting herself.


    The contact meant they were connected, and if the fish got hurt, then Yu You Lei herself would also be impacted. If the fish were to die, then Yu You Lei would follow it in death. This worked the same the other way round.


    The only reason the two were reunited in this life was because it was a soul contract, so unless one of their souls disappeared, they''d probably just reincarnate over and over again with each other for the rest of eternity!


    Just thinking about spending the rest of her life with such a pathetic fish made Yu You Lei want to spit out blood.


    Seeing the murder in Yu You Lei''s:s eyes grow more intense, the fish hurriedly tried to calm her down.


    "I-I''ll explain, calm down, Mas- Wait, it''s Mistress. . . Calm down, Mistress, I can explain!" Its attempt at calming down Yu You Leo seemed to only infuriate her further.


    "Okay, okay, fine. . . In your previous life, you never noticed me for several reasons. After that, I can grow even more, but I can''t seem to remember what I will transfer into."


    The fish somehow puffed up its chest in pride towards the end.


    Yu You Lei ignored the last two comments the fish made and stared at it, dissatisfaction clear in her eyes.


    She brought the ball of water closer to her, making the fish back away as far as possible.


    "So, I must cultivate, and only then will you become that dragon? And, as I cultivate, the environment will become better than it was in the past?" Yu You Lei asked two questions first, wanting to clear things up.


    The fish nodded frantically, thinking it would be free from the clutches of the female devil after answering that.


    To his horror, Yu You Lei only brought him closer, even removing some of the water so he had nowhere to swim.


    "Okay, but. . . Where are my treasures? Where have they gone?" Her voice was falsely calm, and the fish could sense the anger behind her words.


    "Gone!" With this single word, Yu You Lei almost snapped.


    "For now." Yu You Lei held her hand back, and her eyes twitched slightly. Could the fish finish its sentences properly?


    "You stored your treasures all over the place, according to rank and category. Unfortunately, for the storing and herb system, you go by your cultivation level. So, at orange rank, you could open almost one third of the chests here. At red rank, you would''ve been able to open the one third exactly, but now that you''ve started from a cultivation wastrel, you can only open some chests which are labelled with ''0''. If you try to open any other chest, you wouldn''t see anything. That means for now, you can only open the chests which contain your food, survival items, money and a minimum amount of cultivation materials." The fish wanted to close its eyes, but had no eyelids, and could only watch helplessly as Yu You Lei''s expression darkened.


    "How are they sorted? And what happened to my treasures?"


    "Oh, it''s sorted by every level, not colour rank. High level would have a blue ''2'' engraved in the chest, low level would have ''1'', peak level would have ''3'', and they would be painted according to the colour rank you require. As for youe treasures, you just can''t see them or touch them. They are still safe." At this point, the fish was already floating around leisurely, thinking it was safe.


    Yu You Lei let out a breath of relief. She had a faint impression of those numbers, and even remembered sorting items according to the numbers for fun at one point. Thankfully, purple, to her, symbolized the start of her whole journey, so she stored most of the essential items inside the purple chests.


    In fact, maybe she sorted all the items according to the numbers and colours. She thought about it, and her expression brightened. Yes, she definitely sorted her items according to the numbers and colours! Those materials suitable for an orange high leveled were all placed in the correct chests, and the same went for everything else.


    That was perfect! She would probably be able to use those items to help her along as she went. Yu You Lei wouldn''t dare to use the more powerful items yet anyway, since she would probably accidentally pulverize herself at some point.


    Yu You Lei grinned, turning to the fish. Just a few more questions and she''d let it go.


    "What do I call you?" She asked, a friendly smile on her face.


    "You are the mistress, you can give me a name." The fish said, waving a fin casually. The ring itself was named Little Long, but it must have a better name for itself, right? It thought she''d give it a good, majestic and elegant name, but. . .


    Her? Name the fish? From her judgement, the fish was a male, so she needed to think of a suitable male name for it. . .


    "Okay, I''ll name you Ji Xiang!" Yu You Lei grinned, glad she could actually think of a name.


    "What? Doesn''t that mean auspicious? Are you using me as a good luck charm? No, I don''t like it!" Ji Xiang immediately began protesting.


    "Are you cursing me? So what if you''re my good luck charm?" Yu You Lei''s expression turned cold in an instant.

    It muttered grudgingly.


    "Okay, good. Very obedient. Now, Little Xiang, where are my herbs?"

 13 Chapter Twelve

    "The herb garden?" Ji Xiang was stunned for a moment, then remembered.


    "Oh! That! The concept of that is like your chests, so for now, the herb garden is non-existent. However, the forest is still free for you to move about, and there might be some of the herbs in there. . ." Ji Xiang quickly explained, seeing the shadow of Yu You Lei loom closer.


    Nodding stiffly, Ji Xiang watched with bated breath as Yu You Lei walked away.


    It was only when her figure completely disappeared did he let out a sigh of relief. Mustn''t let her know he actually ate most of the herbs, or else his life would be in danger! He stared at the herb garden for a moment, then muttered under his breath, "Little plants, I know you can regenerate. I''m sorry for eating you again and again over the last few years, please grow faster. . ."


    Then, a moment later, all traces of fear disappeared and he became bored.


    "Wait! Female devil, it''s boring in here. Bring me out to play! I haven''t seen the world in many years, what if there''s something new?" Ji Xiang shouted out anxiously. It didn''t seem to know that they''d travelled a few thousand years back instead of forward.


    A reply came very quickly.


    "Do you expect me to carry a fish tank around? I''m not going to bring you out! This is a few thousand years back, and you probably were already at this point in time. What is there to see?" Yu You Lei''s voice echoed in the blob of water Ji Xiang was still floating in.


    "At least let me out?" Ji Xiang tactfully used a respectful tone, hoping he could at least swim around in the water for a bit.


    No reply came, even after he waited for a few minutes.


    The only traces of Yu You Lei ever entering the ring were the blobs of water floating in midair.


    One contained a fish, while the others, position directly in plain view of the fish, spelt out "In your dreams!".


    Her soul returning to her body, Yu You Lei took a moment to recollect her thoughts.


    So, the first step would be to find a way to get rid of the poison.


    For that, she needed to be in good condition and have a lot of money.


    The herbs she required to rid her body of the poison weren''t common, and would probably be pricey.


    Since the previous owner of Yu You Lei''s body liked to dabble in random jobs, she knew that the herbs, alchemy, arrays, beast taming and such weren''t too different from her past life.


    The occupations were graded from 10 to 1, with 10 being the lowest and 1 being the highest.


    Each grade had a very vast difference in the amount of mental power required, which was why anything higher than grade 3 was practically legendary.


    The grades represented what grade of their occupations they could handle. For example, a grade 5 alchemist could make grade 5 pills, and a grade 8 array master could set up grade 8 arrays.


    As the grade grows higher, the difference also becomes larger. While a grade 10 alchemist might still be able to stand in for a grade 9 one, it would be impossible for a grade 8 one to stand in for a grade 7 one.


    The pills, beasts, arrays were also classified the same way as the occupations were, from 10 to 1, with 10 being the lowest.


    Herbs divided into two classes. Normal and spiritual. The normal herbs were things you could probably find on random mountains as long as you knew where to look for. The spiritual herbs were the ones which had infused spiritual qi in them, giving then special and magical effects.


    Nowadays, spiritual herbs were more commonly seen than normal ones, so that meant the normal herbs actually cost more than the other class.


    The classes were divided into three grades, low, average and high. It''s clear how that works, right?


    What Yu You Lei needed were 5 normal average grade herbs, 3 normal high grade herbs, 20 normal low grade herbs, 50 spiritual low grade herbs, 20 spiritual average grade herbs and 30 spiritual high grade herbs. And this was the cure after Yu You Lei had modified and simplified it!


    These 120 something herbs, don''t look down on them. Each of them were of a different type, and some of them were, as mentioned, difficult to find.


    Money was no problem for Yu You Lei, seeing as she had chests full of that in her ring, but where would she find some of these herbs? People might not even be willing to sell them. No matter the quality, some herbs are very rare and would fetch high prices at an auction even if it were a spiritual low grade herb.


    If they could possibly find ways to raise the price at an auction, who would want to sell to somehow with a fixed price?


    Yu You Lei decided to push her problems aside for now. She needed to temporarily treat her wounds, and find what she could first.


    With a single thought, her soul appeared back in her ring.


    Ignoring the demands and cries of a certain fish, she grabbed a few healing pills and some money.


    Just as she was about to leave, something Ji Xiang said stopped her in her tracks.


    "There are herbs in the forest! If you let me out, I will help you find them!" Throwing his body against the water, Ji Xiang was stunned when he suddenly burst through the bubble of water and fell back into the river.


    That''s right. . . She only collected the water into the air, and didn''t place any barrier. . .


    How could he have been fooled by a young lass like her?


    Turning to Yu You Lei, he realized that she had a smile playing on her face.


    In a second, she burst out laughing.


    She turned away, still laughing, and only said, "That''s right, you could''ve just jumped out. There wasn''t any glass around the water, right? Thank you for the information, though. I don''t want to carry you around like an idiot, so I''ll just use my control over this world to gather my herbs. No need to disturb your rest, Ji Xiang."


    With a single wave of her hands, most of the spiritual herbs she required flew into her hands.


    3 spiritual high grade herbs were missing, along with 2 normal average grade ones and 5 normal high grade ones.


    This made everything so much easier!

 14 Chapter Thirteen

    "Female devil!" Ji Xiang tried to jump out and attack Yu You Lei, but only succeeded in throwing himself onto the dry soil. He flopped around pathetically, and eventually found his way back into the water.


    Yu You Lei cast him a strange look, saying, "Do you expect me to let you out if you keep calling me a devil?"


    With that, she walked away,ignoring the cries of Ji Xiang which came from behind her.


    Yu You Lei quickly exited the ring, returning to her body with a box of money and some herbs in her hands.


    She waved her hand, and a mat appeared on the floor.


    Huffing from the effort needed to carry the items, Yu You Lei quickly threw the herbs onto the mat and plunked the box of money in one corner.


    Yu You Lei then waved her hand a few more times, and mats marked with different colours appeared on the floor. She took some time to sort the herbs according to their rank and type, and then rolled all the mats up.


    Wrapping them into one large bundle, she carelessly tossed it inside her ring and proceeded to observe the box of money.


    Yu You Lei couldn''t deny the fact that she was rich, and maybe kind of greedy, in her past life. She really, really loved collecting treasures! Even if they were of no use to her, finding and claiming them for herself simply gave her a sense of satisfaction.


    She opened the box with shining eyes, and let out a laugh upon seeing the coins inside the box.


    The money system in this world was rather simple.


    Most people used coins as currency. There were bronze coins, silver coins and gold coins. 100 bronze coins made up a silver coin, and 100 silver coins made up a gold coin.


    Silver and bronze coins were the most common form of currency, while gold coins were usually used by the richer ones.


    There were also spiritual gems, which were the most expensive form of currency only used for buying treasures.


    They were found in two places - either in a mine or from the body of a spiritual beast. They similarly had 10 grades, and they were graded according to what grade beast they were dug out from.


    Those found in mines would be compared to the ones from the spiritual beasts, and then it would be decided by a professional what level it was.


    These gems were only used for buying legendary treasures, since a grade 10 one would be worth 500 000 gold coins, a grade 9 one would be worth 1 000 000, a grade 8 one would be worth 1 500 000 and so on. A grade 2 one would be worth 100 million, and a grade 1 one would be double the price since beasts of those grades were very, very rare.


    A family of 3 could survive for a week with 30 gold coins. An average person''s monthly income was 25 gold coins, and a person generally used 2 or less gold coins a day for food and other expenses. Other than a job, trading and selling treasures was also a common way to earn money. Auction houses and trading centres were also very common as a result.


    Yu You Lei shoved her hands into the box, and the laughter that was about to bubble from her throat suddenly got stuck. Under that layer of maybe 50 gold coins, were a few dozen silver coins. And after a layer of those silver coins, there were only bronze coins!


    She quickly counted the money, brain whirling away and she added the cost together and did some maths. Altogether, she only had around 60 gold coins.


    Although a family of 5 could survive for two weeks with 60 gold coins, herbs and treasures cost way more than those daily needs.


    Even the most common item on her list of herbs she still needed, the Frozen Lilac Flower, cost around 40 gold coins if she were to find a good deal. In worst case scenario, she would need at least 1000 gold coins to buy the herbs she still needed.


    Yu You Lei frantically took out all the boxes of money she was able to find, and realized that each of them, which were originally filled with gold, had been instead filled to the brim with bronze coins.


    It seemed the first box she took out was actually the one containing the most amount of money, since in the other boxes, there wasn''t a single trace of gold, or even silver, coins.


    Adding the value of all her coins together, Yu You Lei only had 500 gold coins. The reason she only had this little amount was because apparently, her boxes full of high grade crystals were also turned into bronze coins.


    "I forgot to mention, there''s a chance the things in the boxes might be brought down by a few grades if your level is too low. Don''t worry, after you cultivate, these coins will naturally return to their original state." A voice said in Yu You Jia''s mind before disappearing, leaving her fuming as she stared at the boxes and coins in front of her. She swept her hand across the room, and the boxes disappeared without a trace.


    There was a chance they could return to their original form in the future, so if she were to use them as bronze coins now, it would be a waste.


    Looks like the only thing she could do was to find some way to earn money.


    Meanwhile, the six guards were sitting on the tree with their eyes closed and backs turned. They were originally sent to confirm whether Yu You Lei had truly died, but now their role was to protect her.


    "What do you think the future Mistress is doing?" One of the guards whispered, eyes closed as he listened to the clanking of coins coming from Yu You Lei''s room.


    "Eh, so you think there''s a chance she will become the Mistress in the future?" Another guard asked, almost opening his eyes when he did so. He personally felt that she would become a concubine at most, with her talent and all.


    "She seems to have changed, though? So, maybe there''s a chance?" The same guard said, thinking back to her behavior earlier.


    "Shut your mouths!" The seemingly most mature guard whispered, successfully causing all of them to clamp a hand over their mouths. This was Bai Wu, the one with the most power among all the six guards sent.


    Their names were given according to their power. Each of their names started with Bai, and the second character would be their ranking[1]. Bai Yi to Bai Si were all guarding Li Juan Tian, while Bai Wu to Bai Shi were with Yu You Lei.


    "Let''s stop talking about her, okay? Anyways, yesterday, I heard that Master. . ." He then surprised everyone by joining in the gossiping. These stotic guards then began to whisper and gossip like a few woman.


    A few minutes of exchanging news later, the earlier silence returned, and they sat motionlessly on the branches.


    "Hey, strange shadow guard people, where are you?" Yu You Lei poked her head out her window and shouted this, staring at the sillohoutes of the six guards.


    Following her call, they all leaped into her room without any hesitation or consideration for her privacy.


    Yu You Lei cast them an uninterested glace after they landed, and then asked in a nonchalant tone, "Do you have money?"

 15 Chapter Fourteen

    The guards were stunned.


    "Hello? I asked you if you had any money?" Yu You Lei was irritated, and waved a hand in front of their faces. After considering for a moment, she asked, "Do you even listen to my orders?"


    This time, it was Bai Liu who reacted first.


    "Yes, Mistress." Falling down onto one knee, he lowered his head. The other guards all followed suit, saying the same thing as Bai Liu did.


    Ignoring their actions, Yu You Lei repeated herself again.


    "Okay, so do you have money?"


    "This. . ." Bai Qi wanted to cry. They were paid to follow the orders of Li Juan Tian, but they . . . Were they going to be forced to hand it over just like that?


    "Hand it to me." Yu You Lei saw the look flash by Bai Qi''s eyes, and knew that he, at the very least, had money.


    Bai Qi looked over to Bai Wu, silently begging for assistance. Bai Wu himself seemed helpless, and could only dig out what little amount he had on him.


    The others looked at each other, and upon seeing the very same helplessness in each other''s eyes, could only reluctantly dig through their pockets for money.


    A smile blossomed on Yu You Lei''s face as she stared at the pile of gold coins which was slowly forming. Slowly but steadily, the tiny pile was beginning to become slightly bigger.


    However, this smile soon faded when she realized the guards stopped adding coins to the miniscule pile.


    "What? Is that all the six of you have?" Yu You Lei asked, almost ready to personally go forth and pull off all their clothes in order to find some money. With some difficultly, she managed to restrain herself.


    "Y-yes, Mistress. Us servants do not bring much with us when guarding the Crown Prince, nor do we received much in terms of coins either. . . " Bai Wu was left with the responsibility of breaking the news, since none of the other guards were willing to do it.


    He felt a shiver run down his spine as he stared at the face of Yu You Lei, which had already turned cold.


    Yu You Lei''s eyebrows furrowed, her expression instantly freezing up. She moved forward to count the coins, hoping there were more than there seemed to be. In the end, there were only 70 gold coins altogether in the pile!


    She completely ignored Bai Wu''s attempt at rousing her sympathy, and immediately demanded, "Go grab all your money and give it to me!"


    The simplest way to earn money for now was to extort the guards!


    Bai Wu broke out into a cold sweat, and tried his best to turn the situation around.


    "We were ordered by Master to guard Mistress, and we cannot leave your side. If we want to go grab our money, then Mistress has to follow us." Bai Wu explained. It wasn''t a lie, since Li Juan Tian had ordered them to keep Yu You Lei within a few hundred meters of them at all times.


    Yu You Lei let out a scoff.


    "Who ordered you to come here anyways?" She asked, half curious, and half wanting to murder that person.


    Bai Wu immediately answered, "The Crown Prince."


    Bai Wu didn''t receive any orders from his master to conceal his identity, so now he could sell Li Juan Tian out without hesitation! Sorry, Master, the future Mistress might murder me otherwise. Good luck!


    Yu You Lei''s brows drew together tighter, as she mumbled, "The Crown Prince? Li Juan Tian?"


    She paced around the room. With her intelligence, she knew he''d probably sent the guards here to kill her at first. Whatever, at least they were following her orders now. That saved her the trouble of calling for a servant.


    Speaking of which, You Ping, who''d been ordered to wait outside, had already almost fallen asleep, and therefore didn''t notice the movement from the room.


    Yu You Lei could always ask the Crown Prince for money. However, she didn''t like owing people favours, so decided to try and earn money on her own instead.


    She quickly threw the gold coins back onto the floor, gaze clearly telling the guards she wanted them to take back the money. They did so immediately, grabbing the coins as if they were their last hope for survival.


    Yu You Lei didn''t even want to owe the servants of Li Juan Tian anything. What if he used this to prevent her from bring him down in the future?


    That father of hers couldn''t be trusted with finances, and therefore handed most of those duties to his main wife, Li Min Hui.


    It was clear that Li Min Hui wouldn''t be allowing Yu You Lei to access even a single bronze coin anytime soon, especially after she''d hurt Yu You Jia.


    Other than Li Min Hui''s hold over the finances, there was still her second brother, Yu Yuan Fu. He seemed to be her only option for the time being!


    Yu You Lei stopped pacing, and waited for the guards to finish picking up their coins.


    After that, she sent a message to Ji Xiang, telling him to prepare a few spiritual fruits for her.


    Since there were spiritual herbs, gems and beasts, there were also spiritual fruits and vegetables. They were basically normal fruits and vegetables which grew in a place with abundant spiritual qi, and as such absorbed the spiritual qi in the air.


    Spiritual fruits and vegetables could help boost a persons spiritual qi and stamina for a short period of time, and could also help in the long run if eaten often. Yu You Lei had a lot of these in her forest, and therefore could eat them as snacks.


    With her weak body, she''d need to rely on these fruits and some pills to be able to move around freely.


    Yu You Lei quickly threw the healing pills she brought out earlier into her mouth like jellybeans, and then chewed as she quickly made sure she looked presentable.


    Fixing her hair, and changing her expression to a more peaceful and pure one only took a minute.


    Yu You Lei felt the effects of the healing pills take place, and upon seeing the guards were also ready, leaped out the window without hesitation.

 16 Chapter Fifteen

    Startled, the guards quickly followed suit and leaped out the window too.


    It was a miracle that, with the manor''s tight security, nobody noticed the presence of any of those guards, or even Yu You Lei who was a cultivation wastrel.


    Yu You Lei flew over the walls and out her courtyard with six guards following her in the shadows.


    Her light blue dress fluttered in the wind as she made her way over to her second brother''s courtyard.


    Avoiding the guards surrounding Yu Yuan Fu''s manor was no easy feat, but Yu You Lei managed to do so with some effort.


    Landing gracefully on the roof of her brother''s house, she took a moment to compose herself before dangling from her legs and knocking on her brother''s window.


    Yu You Lei jumped off the roof the moment she heard movement from inside the house, and silently landed in front of the door.


    She checked to see the guards were there one last time, before putting a innocent expression on her face and knocking on it.


    From her memories, this Second Brother of hers didn''t bully her, but didn''t really help her out either. Yu Yuan Fu simply sat on the fence, occasionally offering Yu You Lei help if things got too out of hand, but usually just sitting by and watching.


    Yu You Lei was sure that, with some persuasion, she could extort some of his money.


    First, she could try the innocent and weak act. However, she was almost certain he wouldn''t fall for it. He himself was probably a good actor, and Yu You Lei didn''t want to bother with all the fake tears and whatnot.


    If the act didn''t work, then she could always use other ways to persuade him. She did have some herbs on hand, after all.


    The door opened up to reveal a servant.


    "Fifth Young Miss?" The servant seemed shocked for a moment, before bowing slightly.


    Yu You Lei offered him a small smile, asking, "Is Second Brother around? I''d like to see him."


    The servant hesitated for a moment, before opening the door wider.


    "Please come in, Fifth Young Miss. This servant will go inform the Second Young Master." The servant spoke, gesturing to the seats in the main hall.


    Yu You Lei nodded, not making things hard for the servant. She knew that brother of hers was always either playing the zither, writing, cultivating or dealing with finances and such.


    Yu Yuan Fu was probably practicing his zither skills now, as the Crown Prince''s birthday was coming up soon. There was bound to be a banquet, and the chance of him being pulled up to perform was very high.


    Sure enough, when Yu You Lei sat down, she heard the faint sound of a zither coming from somewhere deeper inside the house. Another servant went off to brew her a cup of tea as she waited, listening closely to the melody Yu Yuan Fu was playing.


    A disappointed look flashed by her eyes after a minute of listening, but Yu You Lei quickly covered it up.


    Yu Yuan Fu''s skills could be considered top-notch in most people''s eyes, but for a perverted genius like her, he was still a bit lacking.


    Yu You Lei let out a sigh as she took a sip of her tea and sank into her seat. Looks like Yu Yuan Fu wasn''t as skilled at playing the zither as she thought he would be.


    The servant standing by her side couldn''t tell if it was a sigh of satisfaction or disappointment, and almost cried. In the past, Yu You Lei had visited her brother once or twice to try and get some money from him.


    Each time, she was denied it and could only vent her anger on the servants, leaving an everlasting impression on them.


    This was why the servant at the door had hesitated when letting her in. From past experiences, he knew she would only cause a ruckus every time she entered the residence.


    The distant sound of the zither playing stopped, and footsteps echoed down the hallway.


    Yu You Lei couldn''t hold back a frown when she heard the two sets of footsteps. Even a wastrel like her was able to walk silently, yet her brother''s footsteps were actually so loud.


    It seemed like if she wanted to get him on her side, she''d need to groom him some more.


    Yu You Lei placed down her cup of tea, mentally preparing herself.


    Taking a deep breath, she placed the naive expression back onto her face.


    Yu Yuan Fu''s servant appeared before Yu You Lei first, and bowed slightly, proceeding to stop a few meters away from her.


    One set of footsteps remained, and Yu You Lei was certain they were her brother''s.


    Sure enough, the sound of footsteps stopped as soon as Yu Yuan Fu sat on a chair opposite of Yu You Lei.


    "Greetings, Second Brother." Yu You Lei sent a small smile at Yu Yuan Fu, earning a nod in return. After exchanging some superficial greetings, silence befell the room.


    "Is Fifth Sister alright?" Yu Yuan Fu asked after a moment of consideration. Yu You Lei brightened up at his question.


    "Just a bit weak. . . I came over to ask a favor of you, Second Brother!" Yu You Lei said, not bothering to hide her intentions.


    Before Yu Yuan Fu could get a single word in, Yu You Lei continued speaking.


    "It''s like this- I need some money from you." Yu Yuan Fu''s face darkened considerably at her words, just as she expected.


    Yu You Lei let a trace of shame and guilt enter her eyes as she looked down to ''cover'' it up.


    "I-I hope Second Brother can understand, I need it to buy herbs so I can get better soon. . ." Yu You Lei tried to explain. It wasn''t exactly a lie, was it?


    Without even bothering hear the rest of her excuse, Yu Yuan Fu shut her up with a cold "No."


    As an actor himself, Yu You Lei''s effortless attempt at trying to deceive him didn''t work in the slightest.


    Knowing her plot was seen through, Yu You Lei simply sighed, accepting her fate peacefully.


    She stared at Yu Yuan Fu, and pouted in one last attempt to win him over. All he did was scoff and look away, already knowing what she was playing at.


    Sighing once more, Yu You Lei decided it was about time she resorted to her actual plan instead of keeping up this facade for any longer.


    The two had somewhat reached a tactic understanding of each other, so when Yu You Lei motioned to the servants in the room with her eyes, Yu Yuan Fu immediately sent all of them out.


    Yu You Lei similarly waved her guards off, leaving them once again to sit in a tree with their backs turned.


    Once this was done, Yu You Lei leaned forward, a small smirk playing on her face.

    Yu Yuan Fu lifted a brow.


    "Were you always like this?" He asked skeptically, seemingly searching her eyes for something.


    His eyes widened for a moment when he seemed to have found it, and the cold facade he kept up melted away into nothing.


    Rubbing his hands together, a similarly cunning smirk appeared on his face as he too lean forward slightly.


    Yu You Lei and Yu Yuan Fu stared at each other for a moment, and all of a sudden, the two began chatting animatedly as if they''d been very close for many decades.


    Only the two would ever know what was discussed in the room.


    The siblings ended up chatting, discussing and gossiping for almost a whole day, and Yu You Lei only left when the sun was beginning to set.


    When Yu You Lei stepped out of the door, the servants almost wanted to hug her. If she stayed any longer, they''d assume the two siblings had died!


    However, upon noticing the gloomy expression on Yu You Lei''s face, they decided it was better to just let her leave peacefully.


    Her previous visits ended with her leaving with a similar expression on her face, and none of the servants had a good time when facing her, or rather her servants'', wrath.


    As Yu You Lei leaped back to her own room, she finally understood why the previous owner always made her servants beat up Yu Yuan Fu''s!


    That guy was just too annoying. He was just a few steps away from being as shameless as she was.


    Yu You Lei, for once in her life, felt slight pity for those who she''d extorted in the past. It was a miracle those people didn''t try to send people to assassinate her after being extorted!


    Fuming, Yu You Lei sat on her bed with her eyes closed.


    She took out a spiritual fruit from her ring and angrily took a bite, glaring at it as if it were Yu Yuan Fu.


    The guards sent by Li Juan Tian decided not to question anything about this ''future mistress'' anymore, and had already accepted the fact that she was unpredictable and had many tricks up her sleeve.

    Those rumours were mostly false, and the only ones which were true would be the ones about her being a wastrel and arrogant. The other rumours which caused You Ping to subconsciously look down on Yu You Lei were spread by no other than Yu You Jia!


    These rumours were a debt Yu You Lei must remember to collect from Yu You Jia.


    Personally helping You Ping up brought the young girl to tears again. Look how well the Young Miss treated her! Her family would live a good life now that the Young Miss had become so sensible!


    You Ping didn''t even question how Yu You Lei had changed so much, and decided to blindly give her her trust. She had a gut feeling this was a good choice!

    Satisfied with the day''s work, Yu You Lei finally felt the exhaustion of transmigrating hit her with full force.


    Without even removing her outerwear, Yu You Lei simply slumped onto her bed and fell asleep.

    A voice echoing in the void distracted her from her question. The voice wasn''t Ji Xiang''s. Instead, it was completely unfamiliar to her.


    It came out somewhere in between a hiss and a normal male voice, making it sound rather unique.


    "Who goesss there?"


    Startled, Yu You Lei looked around for the source of the voice.


    "Isss thisss our owner. . .?" A more feminine version of the earlier voice hissed.


    A snake as dark as ink out slithered from the darkness of the void, followed closely by another which was as pure and white as snow. Yu You Lei wondered how it managed to blend in to the darkness.


    "Ssshe ssseemsss different. . . Her mental power issss much ssstronger. . ." The black snake hissed, and Yu You Lei managed to establish the fact that he was the owner of the more masculine voice.


    Forming a simple chair with a tiny bit of her mental power, Yu You Lei took a seat and watched as the two snakes seemed to discuss something with each other.


    The white snake turned to Yu You Lei, its slitted eyes staring straight into Yu You Lei''s soul


    "Your ssoul hass changed." The simple statement made Yu You Lei break out into a cold sweat.


    "But it isss not our job to bother about that." Her next statement allowed Yu You Lei to let out a breath of relief.


    "We are the keepersss of this body''s mental power." The black snake stated, and Yu You Lei nodded absentmindedly.


    In her previous life, she heard about these so called ''keepers''. There were keepers for each aspect of cultivation, and they served as mentors for those aspects. Yu You Lei didn''t expect this body to actually have a mental keeper!


    "We didn''t come out previousssly, becaussse the body''sss mental power wasss too low, but now, it issss too high, and the body might explode if you don''t do anything. . ."

 20 Chapter Nineteen

    The Yu You Lei who was grinning from ear to ear was stunned, and her face fell immediately. Before she could even begin getting revenge, she was already met with another challenge? Her body would explode because her mental power was too strong? What kind of logic was this?

    The two snakes didn''t seem to approve of the name, though, and that caused Yu You Lei to come up with a series of even worse names for them.


    "Black White Scary Ropes."


    "Hot and Cold Snakes."


    "Salty and Spicy Noodles."


    "Chess Snakes."


    "I think we will stick to Yin Yang Danger Noodles.", the black snake finally gave in, its voice no longer coming out as a hiss.


    "Okay, now for your individual names!" Yu You Lei cackled. See, she just knew it was a good name!


    "I''ll call you Xiao Bai and Xiao Hei." Yu You Lei decided almost immediately, letting the Yin Yang Danger Noodles breath out in relief.


    (Xiao Hei = Little Black Xiao Bai = Little White)


    "Okay, okay, I''ll be Xiao Hei, she''ll be Xiao Bai." The black snake nodded furiously, wanting to settle that before Yu You Lei changed her mind.


    Yu You Lei gave him a strange look, saying, "Eh? You got the names wrong, you''re Xiao Bai, she''s Xiao Hei. That way, if you manage to physically come out, then we can confuse the enemy!"


    Xiao Bai wanted to die.


    He truly wanted to die.


    Having heard enough of Yu You Lei''s nonsense, Xiao Hei urged her to simply start training instead of continuing to drag and laze about.

    Looking around, Yu You Lei saw what could only be described as some form of transparent liquid. It seemed like water, yet she could still breath normally. There was seemingly no end to this ''pool'' of water, and in the pool were thousands and thousands of what seemed to be strings.


    Yu You Lei leaned forward slightly to observe the strings, curiously poking one of them. To her surprise, it hit another string, and the two seemed to merge into a slightly thicker string.


    She did this a few more times, and the strings seemed to keep on merging into a thicker and thicker one. However, she could only merge two strings of the same size. It reminded her of that game she used to play, 2048, was it?


    While Yu You Lei was doing this, something was happening to the miniture black void on her right. Turning her head to look at the void, she noticed that there seemed to be some kind of ''bubble'' around it. This bubble was shaped like a brain, and as she merged the strings, it was slowly becoming bigger and bigger.


    The bubble looked like it was about to pop any moment, though, causing Yu You Lei to break out into a cold sweat.


    "I see you''ve gotten the hang of it. You basically need to merge all these strings until they become one. Don''t look down on these strings, though, because as you merge them, it will become more and more difficult. However, the more you merge them, the bigger your mental capacity will be, so you must persist." Xiao Bai''s voice echoed from inside the bubble, and it was soon followed by Xiao Hei''s voice.


    "Your mental capacity is basically that bubble over there. You see, right now your mental power is too much, and that bubble might pop any moment. That''s why you must quickly train and make the bubble bigger, or you''ll explode!" Xiao Hei said emotionlessly, seemingly not caring about the wellbeing of Yu You Lei.

    Yu You Lei was only aware of the time because Xiao Hei kept on reminding her of it, since there was no clock inside her mental storage or the pool.


    Counting the number of strings while merging them helped her to relieve some of the boredom of repeating the same action over and over again.


    Therefore, when Yu You Lei was kicked out of the pool and the void by the Yin Yang Danger Noodles, she knew that there were 2048 strings at first. After a whole night''s work, there were 1022 strings left.

    To their shock and delight, a few dozen trays were laid out on the tables, each having a few mouth watering dishes in them. It was very clearly labeled who each tray belonged to, and Yu You Lei somehow seemed to know each person''s likes and dislikes very well.


    The heavenly smell from the dishes was enough to make even the most experienced cooks in the kitchen hungry, and they were almost ready to cry tears of joy when they saw Yu You Lei had actually made a few servings for the servants.


    Those who witnessed Yu You Lei''s ''generosity'' immediately forgot about her reputation as the world''s worst cook, digging in with vigour after delivering the food to the Masters and Mistresses in the General''s residence.


    Even those people of the residence were amazed by the wonderful food, each wondering when such an amazing cook had gotten a job in their kitchen. Some of them wanted to rush over and demand for more food, and some even wanted the chef for themself, and this almost caused an internal war.


    While all this was happening, Yu You Lei was happily rushing out the General''s manor with You Ping, unaware of the commotion she''d caused back at home. She didn''t know that, just because she was in a good mood, she managed to earn the gratitude of some servants.


    "Fifth Young Miss, would you like a carriage?" The Steward stopped her just as she exited the main door, already accustomed to her running out without informing her father even before she fell into a coma.


    Steward Feng might be worried for this young miss, being Yu Jiang Jun''s loyal servant, but he had no way to control her either. The best he could do was secretly send some guards to keep a lookout for her safety.


    After some consideration, Yu You Lei nodded and stood to the side as Steward Feng prepared everything for her. Smiling at him for his hard work, Yu You Lei jumped up into the carriage, ignoring You Ping''s attempt at assisting her.


    Settling down properly, Yu You Lei lifted the curtain slightly and looked out the window. She couldn''t help but compare her current world and the one she came from.


    "Medical Pavilion." You Ping told the carriage driver. As the carriage began moving, Yu You Lei stared out the window, her mind seemingly having wandered somewhere far away.


    You Ping noticed this and kept quiet, only secretly sneaking a glance at her from time to time.


    The Young Miss was truly too beautiful! In the past, this beauty didn''t show through that much due to her overly arrogant attitude, but Yu You Lei seemed to have changed since she woke up from the coma.


    Her personality now somehow brought out her true beauty, making her look twice as pleasing to the eyes as before.


    "Young Miss, we''ve arrived." You Ping hesitated before tapping Yu You Lei on the shoulder. They could be considered as close now, right? She wouldn''t be punished for touching Yu You Lei?

    Yu You Lei watched the people leaving and entering Medical Pavilion for a moment, then stepped forward, following the flow of the crowd into the building.


    You Ping followed closely behind her, not wanting to lose sight of her Young Miss. Mixed in with the crowd were Yu You Lei''s guards, including the ones sent by Steward Feng. The guards sent by Li Juan Tian watched her carefully from the shadows, ready to step in at any point in time.


    Yu You Lei was worried that a twelve-year-old girl like her, who was clearly from a higher class, would stand out among the crowd, but it turned out that people like her weren''t all that uncommon.


    It seemed like those pampered young masters and misses of nobel families also enjoyed to visit the Medical Pavilion from time to time.


    Casually asking a passerby for some help, Yu You Lei figured out the basic layout of this Medical Pavilion.


    The first floor was basically a market for the commoners. Stall vendors set up small stalls, and some even sat on the floor, displaying their items as they wished.

    The third floor was where the rarer herbs were sold, as well as where people who didn''t want to set up stalls could sell their herbs. Yu You Lei could spot some familiar faces among the few people on that floor, but didn''t bother with them.


    Some assistants wandered around, offering help to anyone who seemed like they needed it.


    Yu You Lei saw most of the herbs she needed on the third floor, and therefore called for an assistant to wrap them up for her. She passed the assistant a list to check if there were any of the herbs she was missing in stock, but had no luck.


    After paying for her herbs, which cost 600 gold coins, she handed the bundle to You Ping and consulted her ''shopping list''.


    There were three herbs she still required, and they were all normal high grade ones. It looked like Yu You Lei could only try her luck at the auction, which was happening on the next day.


    Rolling the scroll up and throwing it into her ring with a casual wave, Yu You Lei called the very same assistant over.


    "I want to sell herbs." Yu You Lei cut to the chase immediately, and the assistant nodded before bringing her to a separate room on the third floor.


    The fourth floor was for those VIPs, or people who wanted to auction off precious herbs. The assistant didn''t think Yu You Lei, who seemed to be just another bored Young Miss, would have anything good to sell, and therefore only led her to the normal rooms on the third floor.


    Yu You Lei didn''t really mind it either, since she''d rather sell the herbs and get it over with rather than waste time on those nonsensical ''VIP'' things.


    With another wave of her hands, the herbs she wanted to sell all appeared on the table. The assistant cast one glance at the herbs, bowed at Yu You Lei and ran off to bring the appraisal master over.


    Sitting on the chair, Yu You Lei patiently waited for the appraisal master to arrive as she sipped on her tea. She wasn''t in a hurry.
