《The Ultimate Heel Heals Everything! ~ Repairing Trash Into Rare Items!》 CH 1 Chapter One: Prologue ¨C Heal! T/N: I thought it would be fun to try out translating a LN. Can¡¯t speak or read Japanese so me and Google-san have taken some liberties with phrasing. I¡¯m still pleased with how this turned out. Hopefully other people are interested too? Author¡¯s Note: [I Will Parry Everything to Become the Greatest Adventurer!] was very interesting, so I wrote my own homage to it! I was more scared to die than anyone else. After all, I¡¯d died once before. When I was younger, a swarm of monsters appeared near my village. We tried to call an adventurer to get rid of them, but a monster that he failed to defeat rushed into the village. At the end of the main street, I collapsed, covered in blood. Since the adults were busy dealing with monsters, no one came to help. I was an orphan, so I didn¡¯t have any family to worry about me either. I was so bloody I dyed the dirt around me red. I was unable to move, my consciousness drifting away, the feeling of coldness rushing in. My body, mind, and emotions all frozen¡ Is this death? No¡ I don¡¯t wanna die¡ I don¡¯t wanna die¡ My consciousness flickered, waning in that cold light. Then, warm words echoed like divine blessing. [HEAL] When I opened my eyes, the adventurer¡¯s older sister was crouched down beside me, holding her shining hand over me. The gentle warmth sank into my cold heart. But casting it once wasn¡¯t enough, and she chanted the spell many times. She then cast an even higher level healing spell, her waist-length blue hair fluttering around her. With starry eyes, I stared up at her. The sister¡¯s face was as beautiful as an angel¡¯s. Soon, I was able to move again. While looking at my blood-stained body, she muttered, ¡°alive¡¡±. The older sister was laughing happily saying, ¡°He¡¯s okay. I¡¯m glad¡ I was honestly thinking, ¡®Oh, this is hopeless.¡¯¡± Tears were still shining on the edge of her eyes, so I knew she had been really worried. Kindness truly is the greatest virtue! Naturally, I said, ¡°Thank you, sister. Thank you.¡± ¡°It¡¯s okay, it¡¯s my job. I only cast the spell so I could say ¡®look, even if it didn¡¯t help, I still used my healing magic¡¯. In the past I¡¯ve not gotten paid because I would say, ¡®It¡¯s no use¡¯. I was surprised that you recovered, since¡ Anyways, I¡¯m really glad I cast the spell.¡± She laughed and talked about the situation as if it were a joke, but her true intentions were clear to me as she wiped away her tears and rubbed her nose. I¡¯m glad you cast the spell too, and that the words were so heartfelt. ¡°I¡¯m happy. Thank you, sister.¡± ¡°You¡¯re welcome. Well, you still have some minor injuries.¡± The smiling sister stood up to leave but I called her back. ¡°¡Hey, older sister.¡± ¡°Yeah?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t want to die again. Sister, do you think I can cast it too?¡± ¡°I wonder¡ if you have magical or priestly talent¡¡± Sister put her hand on my forehead. She closed her eyes, searching for something deep within me. After a moment she looked at me with her blue eyes and smiled. ¡°I feel a faint amount of holy power. Advanced healing spells would be impossible but with practice, you should be able to cast minor healing spells.¡± Her answer made me ecstatic. ¡°Really?! Thank you! I¡¯ll practice [Heal].¡± ¡°Do your best! ¡ª Hmmm, how about you start practicing now by treating others hurt by the monsters?¡± ¡°Yes, leave it to me!¡± After that, I followed the sister to help her heal the villagers and guide them back to the village. I learned about healing magic, disinfecting wounds, wrapping bandages, and treating fractures: the basic tenets of healing. After the monsters were exterminated, the group of adventurers left. I practiced [Heal] every day, obeying the instructions of my savior. I would ask the people if they were injured and they would let me cast the spell on them. It didn¡¯t work very well at first, but after a few months, I improved. After half a year, I could heal minor injuries with a single cast of [Heal]. I couldn¡¯t always practice on my fellow villagers so I would also heal the injuries of the local dogs, cats, cows, and chickens. After a year, I was able to heal even a moderate injury. But I was still scared. I had been so injured that sister almost gave up on me. I had been miraculously saved because sister had used [Heal] over and over. But if I got the same serious injury again, I would have to treat myself. Could I cast [Heal] after [Heal] while in intense pain and losing consciousness? No, it¡¯d be impossible. Absolutely impossible. With that in mind, I felt that my [Heal] was still weak. If I got the same injury again, I would die. Additionally, sister said I could only cast basic healing spells. Because I didn¡¯t want to die, I wanted to practice more. But the village had run out of injuries to practice on. While pondering the issue, I noticed something while looking at the trees. A broken branch is also an injury, isn¡¯t it? I cast [Heal], but there was almost no change. But it seemed the broken branch had regained some vitality. Alright, let¡¯s try again! And so I started casting [Heal] on non-living things. I would go into the forest and cast it on kindling. Sometimes, I just practiced while testing what damage [Heal] could or couldn¡¯t fix. And thusly the days passed. CH 2 Chapter Two: Departure into the Unknown A sunny, spring morning. At the age of 17, I stood at the entrance of the village with my worldly possessions on my back. I had grown up to be a man with black hair, black eyes, medium height and build, and no distinguishing characteristics. I was dressed in simple traveler¡¯s garb. This was my departure. A few of the villagers came to see me off, all of them were people who¡¯d been seriously injured in the past whom I¡¯d then healed. ¡°Be careful!¡± ¡°This isn¡¯t much, but it¡¯s for you,¡± an auntie said, giving me a package. I received it with a grateful bow. ¡°Thank you, auntie.¡± The elderly hunter then gave me a fur coat and a pouch. ¡°Take this pouch, it¡¯s the one I used long ago. There¡¯s a little silver inside. Be sure to keep warm as well.¡± ¡°Thank you very much. I appreciate it.¡± ¡°Your [Heal] always work quickly, I wish you would stay here with us forever.¡± ¡°I know, but it can¡¯t be helped. Now that there¡¯s an apothecary, I¡¯m just a waste of resources.¡± I have no talent other than casting [Heal], and as I grew up, I became more of a burden on the village. Even so, the people were grateful for my healing so everyone treated me kindly. But their kindness became a burden on my heart. The final straw was when the apothecary returned to the village. She was able to use intermediate healing magic, so she could cure illnesses as well as injuries. The value of my existence, healing injuries, was diminished into nothing. Moreover, the apothecary¡¯s shop also handles medicinal herbs, potions, tea and herbs. Therefore, it was natural for the villagers to patronize her over me. Because I was useless, I was a waste of food in a village without any to spare. Since I didn¡¯t want to be a burden on the village anymore, I decided to leave the village and make my own way in the world. I would take care of myself! ¡°Thank you for everything. I¡¯ll be leaving now.¡± ¡°See you again!¡± ¡°Come back and visit!¡± With the surprisingly warm words of farewell from the villagers, I waved goodbye. Wait! Come visit isn¡¯t come home! I was keenly aware that there was no place for me in the village anymore. It can¡¯t be helped, let¡¯s do our best. I will survive no matter what! From my old village at the foot of the mountain, I headed through the woods to a nearby town. Along the way, I counted the money while walking down the pleasant forest path. From the auntie, three gold and twenty silver. From the hunter¡ª when I put my hand into the leather pouch, I realized it was bottomless. ¡°Eh?¡± I checked the shabby exterior for a hole but the bag itself was solidly constructed. But I didn¡¯t have any more money ¨C hadn¡¯t the hunter said there was silver inside? ¡°Ohhhhh, this is a [Magic Wallet]! Amazing!¡± There were several types of magical bags common among adventurers. There are [Magic Wallets] which can hold a lot of coins, and [Bags of Holding] which can hold other items. These items could only be found in dungeons and had a high resale value. The old hunter must have been an adventurer in his youth! This was quite the expensive gift to give to me, who couldn¡¯t work in the fields or hunt. Why was everyone in the village so kind? With tears in my eyes, I counted the money inside the [Magic Wallet]. In all, it contained 10 gold, 5 silver, and 24 copper. Combined with my own savings, I had in total 18 gold, 43 silver, and 65 copper. Since even a copper coin weighed a kalus, I was carrying about 18, 925 kali. It¡¯s a lot to deal with, but thanks to the [Magic Wallet], I was saved. ¡°Well.¡± I started thinking after counting the money. It was a lot of money to a villager, but if I didn¡¯t make more, it would be gone in two or three months. I must make some money to survive. However, my only skill was casting [Heal]. I tried to learn swordsmanship and archery from the adults around me, but I was hopeless. I couldn¡¯t even swing an axe and split wood properly. It was only natural to be kicked out of the village and reduce the number of hungry mouths. I had even tried some magic other than [Heal] but it didn¡¯t work at all. I couldn¡¯t cast anything else. Moreover, my [Heal] only worked if I was touching the person. Clerics and Priests have to cast [Heal] from a distance in adventuring parties. Not being able to do that made me completely useless in combat situations. I couldn¡¯t be an adventurer because I only had the basic [Heal]. Or rather, no party would ever have use for someone like me. Besides, I don¡¯t want to die again. I want to be a healer and live far away from danger. ¡Actually, maybe I should live in an adventurer town near a dungeon since I¡¯m accustomed to dealing with sudden injuries. But would I have any patients? I asked the locals and adventurers who were also traveling towards the town, but they didn¡¯t have any advice. I had no choice but to go scout out the situation myself. Worst case, I would work a job that didn¡¯t involve healing. ¡No, worst case, I would go live alone in the mountains. Haha. Anyways, there didn¡¯t seem to be any jobs for newcomers in this town. I had to go to a bigger city. CH 3 Chapter Three: A Fateful Encounter T/N: Hi! I am the same translator who translated the first two chapters but I¡¯m really excited to bring this series to tamagotl! One week after leaving the village. Following the forest road, I passed several villages and towns before I came to the largest city in the region. It was located along a large river and surrounded by high walls. The city¡¯s economy relied on buying agricultural products, lumber, ore, crafts, etc. from the surrounding villages and transporting them abroad on riverboats. This attracted a great number of merchants. There was also a dungeon on a nearby hill that adventurers continuously explored. This meant that there was a local adventurer¡¯s guild which supported a thriving weapons store, armor store, magic store, and pharmacy. The main street was always bustling with people and the voices of hawkers filled the air. As someone from a small village, I couldn¡¯t look directly at the liveliness of the city. Or rather, the shear number of people was scary and I felt timid. I¡¯d never felt this way before but I guessed if I want to live in the city, I¡¯d have to get used to it. Avoiding the crowds on the main street, I entered a back alley. My fellow villagers had told me about the city, including where I could stay cheaply. However, the city was larger than I expected and the many tall, stone buildings meant I couldn¡¯t find my destination. Oops, I guess I was lost. Surprised that even the narrow alleys were paved with cobblestone, I looked around for an inn. However, the further I went, the more desolate the streets became. The houses looked dirty and abandoned despite the people that lived in them. It must¡¯ve been the slums. Next, I came to a place between the edge of the slums and the city wall. Small mountains of trash had built up in the plaza along the wall. When I looked closely, I found fish and animal bones, vegetable scraps, broken planks, and torn cloth. Pieces of paper and dust flew through the air when the wind blew. It looked like the city¡¯s garbage dump. I spent a long time looking at the piles of trash. In the village, even broken things had a use: boards and cloth could be burned, rusted nails and broken knives could be melted down and reforged. Additionally, raw garbage could attract monsters and animals, so it was burnt or buried or crushed or used as fertilizer immediately. The village was poor so nothing was wasted. This city was wealthy. So many useful things had been thrown away thoughtlessly. I was not the only one who thought so either, children in tattered clothes were climbing the garbage mountains. Some were picking up scrap metal, some cloth. There were even children looking for scraps of meat and half-eaten bread. I picked up a few pieces of scrap and put them into my bag. I pitied those children who survived only by scavenging through trash. But I realized that tomorrow that could be me. I could only use low level healing spells and if I couldn¡¯t find a job, I would have no choice but to scavenge as well. Besides, was I even cut out for city living when I had gotten lost on my first day. I stared off into the distance, filled with melancholy. A fight broke out between some of the children. A limping girl with a cane had picked up what appeared to be a string from among the trash. But it was a pendant, shining green and possibly even bejeweled. At that moment, a boy launched a flying kick from near the top of the mountain. ¡°I found it first, why are you taking it?!¡± ¡°Ah!¡± The kick connected, sending the girl rolling down the pile of garbage. The boy¡¯s momentum sent him crashing to the ground as well. A dull sound echoed through the slums. Instinctively I ran over to help the girl. ¡°Are you okay? ¡ª Hey! What are you doing, that could be dangerous! Don¡¯t pick it up!¡± I yelled to the boy. However, the boy took the green pendant and fled. ¡°Finders keepers~! Gyahahaha!¡± hollered the boy as he ran away. I turned my attention back to the girl, worried about her injury. She was young, no older than thirteen but her malnourishment made her appear smaller. Blood dripped from the crooked bridge of her nose and her right eye was closed. ¡°Eh!? Your eye!¡± ¡°No, that happened before¡ I don¡¯t know who you are, but thank you,¡± said the girl in a weak voice. She then crawled to pick up her cane and tried to stand up. However, perhaps because of her weak leg, she groaned a little and squatted down. ¡°What about your body? Are you hurt anywhere?¡± ¡°I think my knee.¡± Her eyes were unfocused and her left eye was clouded, meaning she must have been almost blind. ¡°I see, then I¡¯ll fix it. [Heal][Heal][Heal].¡± I put my hands on the girl¡¯s knee and chanted. Then I cast the same spells over her foot and finally her eye. The magic caused both my hands and the girl¡¯s body to shine with white light. I helped the girl to her feet. She was staring blankly up at me, her lips parted and her eyes wide. ¡°Huh? Eh¡ Uh?¡± ¡°Better, right? You should be able to walk now. And your eyes should be better.¡± The girl looked down at her hands, up at the blue sky, around at the cityscape, and finally towards me. ¡°Liar! ¡ But I can see! And my legs move! Why?¡± ¡°I just healed you. Is that so surprising?¡± ¡°Eh, but, because¡ Because!¡± With tears in her eyes, the girl clung to me with her delicate body and began to cry. She was shorter than me and buried her face in my chest as she wept. ¡°My eyes and legs are bad¡ I was thrown away¡ as a baby¡! Wow!¡± Ah, because of her bad eyesight and legs, she was abandoned. Someone would have to be a pretty terrible parent to be so unwilling to pay for treatment. ¡°Okay, okay. You¡¯re good, it¡¯s going to be okay.¡± I patted her on the head to comfort her. The girl let out a cute sound as she continued to cry. Although it was dirty, her healed face was also cute. She had large eyes, an upturned nose, smooth cheeks, and red lips. She looked like a porcelain doll. CH 4 Chapter 4: Miss Reno and the Adventurers¡¯ Guild I chanted a few more [Heals] over the girl I met at the garbage dump in the slums. After recovering from her injuries, blindness, and bad leg, the girl clung to me and cried. After awhile, the girl stopped crying. I rubbed her head and looked into her blue eyes. ¡°How are you? Feeling better?¡± ¡°Yes, thank you! Also, my name is Reno. What about you, brother?¡± ¡°I¡¯m Lars.¡± ¡°Mister Lars, I want to thank you! Tell me what I can do!¡± She looked up at me with a gaze still wet with tears. The bridge of her nose was straightened and her eyes shone with intelligence. Her gentle, youthful cheeks were flushed. Her cuteness made me feel a little embarrassed and I scratched at my cheek. ¡°Umm, right¡ Ah! Actually, I¡¯ve just arrived in this city and I¡¯m lost. Do you know where Stella¡¯s Inn is?¡± ¡°Yes, I do!¡± The girl ¨C Reno ¨C adjusted the hem of her patchy clothes and started walking and I followed after her. As she led me, she also told me about the different stores. After walking through the back alleys, I finally found the inn. A lone signboard marked it among the densely packed streets. It looked no different from the surrounding stone buildings so even if I had passed by earlier, I wouldn¡¯t have noticed it. Lino¡¯s cheerful face was framed by her blonde hair. Smiling, she said, ¡°Mister Lars, here.¡± ¡°Thank you.¡± ¡°No, you saved me. To be able to see clearly and walk well¡ it¡¯s like a dream. If you have any other problems, please let me know! I will definitely help you!¡± ¡°In that case, I¡¯ll find a way for you to pay me back.¡± ¡°Huh!?¡± I reached out to touch Reno, not her body this time but her ragged clothes. ¡°[Heal].¡± As soon as I said it, her clothes were as good as new. Golden blonde hair, white skin, and well-tailored clothes on a lean body. She could have passed as a beautiful young noble lady. Reno¡¯s eyes widened with surprise. ¡°Eh!? Eeeeee!! What kind of magic is this?!¡± ¡°I only healed¡¡± ¡°Waaah¡ Mister Lars is a god.¡± With a smile on her face, Reno began to shed big tears. ¡°It¡¯s not that big of a deal. I¡¯m just a useless guy who can only use [Heal].¡± ¡°¡Eh. That¡¯s¡¡± Reno rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and shook her head. Her blonde hair glistened in the sunlight. She was very cute. I¡¯m glad my [Heal] could help her. ¡°See you, Miss Reno.¡± ¡°Yes! I¡¯ll come see you again, Mister Lars!¡± I entered the inn, Lino waving goodbye from the street. ¡ª There was a reception counter as soon as I entered. Behind it was a woman with long green hair. She had big breasts and a good figure and gave off an alpha energy. ¡°Welcome.¡± ¡°I¡¯d like to stay for a few days. In a private room, if possible.¡± ¡°Hmm, are you an adventurer?¡± ¡°No, just an ordinary traveler.¡± ¡°What about meals? Or will you be eating out?¡± ¡°I have my own food, so I¡¯m fine with just the room.¡± ¡°Oh, then, 900 kali in advance for three days.¡± ¡°Er, isn¡¯t that a bit expensive?¡± ¡°Since I have no guarantee of your identity, I need double.¡± ¡°I see¡ well then, okay.¡± I took out a gold coin and handed it over. The receptionist examined it closely. She then gave me the key to the room and five silver coins. ¡°Your change is 100 kali. Your room is the one on the corner of the second floor.¡± ¡°Thank you.¡± I went up the back stairs to the second floor and used to key to unlock my room¡¯s door. It was a small room with only a bed and a table inside. The air was fresh and there were windows on the south and west walls. ¡°Well, then.¡± I put my luggage down and sat on the bed. Thinking about the future, I had ended up spending money before even arriving in the city. My savings amounted to about 17,000 kali. I was running out of money. Moreover, it seemed services would cost more if I didn¡¯t have a way to guarantee my identity. This made sense for businesses of course. ¡°This¡¯ll get bad if I can¡¯t find a job soon. I need to earn some money.¡± I got up from the bed and left the room. ¡ª First, I went to the Adventurers¡¯ Guild. It was on the main street so I didn¡¯t get lost en route. It was a splendid marble building. I went inside and approached the receptionist. ¡°Excuse me, I have a few questions.¡± ¡°What do you want?¡± ¡°I can only [Heal], but are there any jobs for just healing?¡± ¡°[Heal] only¡ you¡¯re not a monk or cleric?¡± ¡°Yes, if possible I would like to help injured people and receive money.¡± The woman at the reception desk furrowed her brow and groaned, ¡°Aren¡¯t you asking a bit much? Every party already has priests and healers. Shouldn¡¯t you go to the training center and pick up some more skills?¡± ¡°I can¡¯t do that¡ instead, can you tell me the location of the nearest dungeon?¡± ¡°Fine, but you¡¯re not an adventurer, right?¡± ¡°No, I¡¯m not.¡± ¡°Then you can¡¯t actually enter the dungeon.¡± ¡°I know. I¡¯m only going as far as the entrance.¡± ¡°Well, here¡¯s a map so knock yourself out.¡± ¡°Thank you.¡± I took the map and left the guildhouse. CH 5 Chapter 5: Job Failure and Reno¡¯s Request Following the map, I headed to the dungeon. On the way, I bought a large piece of paper, a thick brush, and ink at the general store. I left town and headed for the nearby hills. The entrance to the dungeon was a swirling black hole in the hillside. A guard stood next to it. When I came near to the entrance, I used the brush to write, ¡®Immediate recovery! Healer here!¡¯ on the paper and held it open. Many groups of adventurers passed me by, and any parties leaving the dungeon barely spared me a glace as they returned to the city. No matter how many hours I waited, no one approached me. Finally, the spear-wielding guard spoke to me, ¡°What have you been doing over there all day?¡± ¡°I¡¯m offering my services as a healer to earn money.¡± ¡°Bah, you¡¯re wasting your time. It would be a different story if you were offering your services on the bottom floor of the dungeon, but any party able to make it back outside would definitely be able to make it back to the city.¡± ¡°So they¨C¡± No. I thought my [Heal] would be useful in the event that the priest, the cornerstone of the party, was incapacitated, but adventurers would have prepared medicinal herbs and potions in case of such emergency. As the sun finally began to set, I was ready to admit I¡¯d made a mistake. I¡¯ll have to find another way to make money. I don¡¯t know if I can live like this¡ I folded the paper and slumped my shoulders as I headed back into the city. * Still without an income, I walked down the main street cast in red light by the setting sun with heavy feet. I saw no hope for my future. Moreover, I was lost. I couldn¡¯t live in the city anymore. Honestly, I had no choice but to become a hermit in the mountains. My thoughts turned gloomier and gloomier and my shoulders hunched more and more and I could barely lift my gaze from the ground. When I saw Reno waving at me from across the road. ¡°Come here, Lars!¡± Her blonde hair glistened in the setting sun. Her carefree, high-pitched, clear voice made my heart a little lighter. But her clothes were once again ragged. ¡°Good evening, Reno ¨C why are your clothes in tatters again? What happened?¡± ¡°Ah, I¡¯m sorry¡ I sold those other clothes.¡± ¡°Huh? Why?¡± Reno lowered her face apologetically. ¡°I wanted to buy some medicine for my sick sister¡ Also, when I was wearing pretty clothes, a lot of men tried to talk to me¡ which was scary¡¡± ¡°I see, since Reno is cute¡ and if it was for the sake of your family, it can¡¯t be helped.¡± ¡°Yes! After I washed my hair, it became more sparkling! This is also thanks to you, Mister Lars!¡± ¡°No, no, the color hasn¡¯t changed¡ Ah! This is the first time you could see your hair clearly.¡± ¡°Oh, yes!¡± Reno nodded with a smile. Her blue eyes with long eyelashes, her blonde hair surrounding her white cheeks, she was as cute as any noble lady. But then I think, maybe her hair yesterday wasn¡¯t as bright? I wonder if I should accept her hug despite not doing anything. Well, she¡¯s cute so I¡¯ll let her get away with it. While I was considering this, Reno cutely tilted her head to the side, ¡°So what was Mister Lars doing?¡± ¡°I was working, but it didn¡¯t go well. ¡ª Also, I can¡¯t remember where the inn is.¡± ¡°Aha! I can guide you back!¡± with a carefree smile, she responded cheerfully. My own mood was improved by her happiness so I said what I had been thinking about. ¡°Thank you, but would it be okay if I spent time with you for a while longer?¡± ¡°Huh?¡± ¡°Will you be my exclusive tour guide around the city today? I¡¯ll pay you.¡± ¡°No way!¡± ¡°No, but you need money, right? Your sister is sick and I can¡¯t cure her.¡± ¡ª To be exact, I had a fifty percent chance of curing her. For whatever reason, when I cast [Heal] on a sick person, half the time they would recover completely and half the time they got worse. That¡¯s why I tried to avoid using [Heal] on the ill. At my words, Reno bowed her head, a dark shadow cast over her youthful yet well-proportioned features. ¡°Yes¡ Big sister tried to protect me but was made bedridden anyways¡¡± ¡°What happened?¡± ¡°She was a strong adventurer, but she helped me anyways when I was in a terrible situation¡¡± According the Reno, she was rescued by the big sister adventurer when she was being violently attacked by rogues. As a result, the gang targeted her and she was attacked and overwhelmed. Since then, she had been sick and bedridden. But, I thought about it and said, ¡°So is this a disease caused by an injury?¡± ¡°That can happen?¡± Reno placed her hand over her chest as if she could barely believe such a thing. The gesture was so cute I couldn¡¯t help but laugh. ¡°It¡¯s okay. Do you want me to try and fix it? I don¡¯t need money. And if the medicine isn¡¯t helping, I¡¯ll try to heal her. Where¡¯s your house?¡± ¡°Wow! Thank you so much! Mister Lars is like a god! I live over this way.¡± Reno took the lead and I followed her down the cobblestone streets. Inwardly, I wondered if I was doing too much for this random child. But thanks to Reno, I was aware of new business possibilities, all because I met her. Because I was alone my whole life before this, I decided to cherish this encounter. CH 7 Chapter 7: Becoming an Adventurer The morning after I cured Reno¡¯s older sister Minya and won their trust, the two came to the inn. Reno greeted me with a big smile full of energy, her beautiful features glistening in the morning sun. ¡°Good morning, Mister Lars!¡± ¡°Good morning, Lars.¡± ¡°Oh, good morning. Reno, Minya, it¡¯s nice to see you.¡± ¡°What are you doing today?¡± ¡°I¡¯ve been thinking about it since yesterday, but I think I¡¯ll become an adventurer. If you go into a dungeon, Minya, I would be able to form a party with you. I can also use it as an ID card.¡± Minya¡¯s black hair shook as she nodded her head. ¡°I agree. If I vouch for you, Lars, you can become an adventurer.¡± ¡°Thank you, Minya.¡± ¡°As expected of my sister!¡± ¡°Well then, should we go now?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± ¡°I¡¯ve paid for protection the rest of this month, so I¡¯m going to scavenge in the dump!¡± Reno said with a smile. After saying goodbye, Minya and I headed to the Adventurers¡¯ Guild. + The Adventurers¡¯ Guild was a beautiful white building along Main Street. I went inside with Minya following me. The woman at the reception desk glanced at us once before returning to the documents in her hands. Then, her eyes widened and did a double take at the woman behind me. ¡°Eh?! Lady Minya of the Black Gale?¡± The reaction surprised me ¨C Minya seemed to have been a powerful person with a title. Minya stretched, flicking back her cat ears, and said with a clear face, ¡°Yes. I¡¯ve fully recovered, so I¡¯m here again.¡± ¡°Ah, yes! Please come this way! Whatever can I do for you today?¡± I went up to the counter, ¡°I¡¯m here to become an adventurer.¡± ¡°If you want to become an adventurer, you need to train at a training center and then take an exam, or be recommended by a high-ranked adventurer¡ But either way, the registration fee is 5,000 kali.¡± ¡°Ah, I¡¯ll vouch for him. Lars has the ability to work as an adventurer.¡± ¡°Okay, Lady Minya! I¡¯ll get his paperwork together right away.¡± The woman at the reception desk rushed to the back room, while talking to her boss, she gathered a crystal ball and papers. Minya, on the other hand, was staring at an adventurer further inside the guild with dark eyes. Somehow, I could feel the cold bloodlust emanating from Minya¡¯s toned limbs. I softly asked, ¡°What¡¯s wrong, Minya?¡± ¡°Hm. There they are. How unpleasant.¡± Following Minya¡¯s gaze, I looked towards the back of the room. The back of the guild was laid out like a tavern, and there were some men drinking at the bar. Men many times larger than me, with thick and protruding muscles. Just by looking at them, I could tell they were strong, veteran warriors. They were making a lot of noise while drinking sake. Quietly, I asked, ¡°Did they hurt Minya?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± ¡°I¡¯ll help you with them, but somewhere more private later.¡± ¡°Thank you,¡± Minya raised her black tail and nodded. The receptionist returned and placed a crystal ball on the counter. ¡°Please gently hold the crystal, I will record your information onto your adventurer card.¡± ¡°Of course,¡± I grabbed the ball obediently. It emitted a faint, pure blue light as the woman filled out the card. She handed me my new ID. ¡°Yes, here you go, you¡¯ve completed the registration.
