    Scarlette seized that moment of freedom to unleash her fury. After a string of colorful curses, she yed her trump card.“Want to see how quickly my father would tear you to pieces if I screamed?”


    A dark chuckle escaped Kenji’s lips.“I scaled your window without fear. Do you really think your father intimidates me?”


    Lifting himself slightly to ease her breathing, he taunted,“Go ahead and cry out. Let him witness how I’m iming his cherished daughter.”


    Color flooded Scarlette’s cheeks, a mixture of rage and mortification.“Kenji, you absolute scoundrel!”


    “Scoundrel? I haven’t even done anything yet.”With one hand still restraining her wrists, his other toyed with the hem of her delicate nightgown.“Now I’ll show you truly scandalous behavior.”


    Knowing his intentions all too well, Scarlette instantly locked her legs together.“Don’t even think about it!”


    Though her re was fierce, she had to whisper her threats, fearful of alerting her parents. To Kenji, her restrained defiance only heightened her allure.


    Dismissing her token resistance, Kenji’s hand traced down her waist before flipping her over, delivering a sharp smack to her bottom.“Part your legs.”


    The sting drew a startled gasp from Scarlette’s lips.


    Unable to soothe her stinging skin with her trapped hands, Scarlette kicked out in frustration.“You brute! Strike me again and I swear I’ll end you!”


    Kenji’s voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, heavy with usation.“Wasn’t that punishment well-deserved? Tell me, whose name were you moaning while I kissed you earlier?”


    Under his prating gaze, unease crept into Scarlette’s consciousness. She turned away, unable to meet his eyes.“How could I possibly know it was you when my eyes were covered?”


    “You couldn’t recognize my tongue?”His blood ran hot as he pressed,“Before you recognized me, were you imagining your date’s lips instead?”


    “Don’t be absurd!”Scarlette protested.“He only crossed my mind after the kiss.”


    This only stoked Kenji’s irritation further.“So, you didn’t know it was me, yet you dared to kiss back, even using your tongue?”


    A flicker of unease passed through Scarlette, but it quickly ignited into defiance.“And why shouldn’t I? Anyone who kisses me well deserves a response.”


    After all, wasn’t that the only reason she’d given in to Kenji before? He wasn’t that special at all.


    The more she dwelled on it, the more her anger red.“Tomorrow morning, I’ll make sure to kiss Roscoe right where you can see.”


    Kenji’s expression darkened like storm clouds gathering. Though he knew she spoke only to wound him, jealousy still coursed through his veins. The emotion rose from his chest like poison, choking his throat and setting his jaw rigid.


    Gazing down at her, raw desire zed in his eyes before he forcibly reined it in, struggling to maintain hisposure.“I came here to apologize, not to force you,”he said, his voice arctic cold.“But you’d do well to hold your tongue.”


    Scarlette, ever rebellious, shot back,“Why should I? I won’t.”


    “Won’t be quiet, or won’t listen?”Kenji challenged.


    “Neither.”


    A dangerousugh escaped Kenji’s lips as his dark eyes bore into hers.“So, you’re truly nning to let Roscoe kiss you tomorrow?”


    “Yes!”Scarlette dered, her chin lifted in defiance.


    “And invite his tongue to dance?”


    “Of course!”
