Chapter 2230: Chapter 2230: The Well

When Julius Reed arrived, his mind was filled with various spections.
But no matter how much he thought, he never expected the location of the ck Dragon Cave to be within the Caldwell Family.
The Caldwell Family holds a prestigious position on Kunlun Mountain and naturally upies the best location there.
As a blessednd in the world, this ce is abundant in spiritual power, making it ideal for Martial Artists to practice martial arts.
"Brother, what do we do now?" Hawthorne asked beside him.
He seemedpletely unconcerned about his injuries and was used to the changes in his body from before.
"Could the Caldwell Family be in cahoots with the people from the Hidden Gate?" Shadow Kims also asked.
The person most closely connected to the Caldwell Family is Julius Reed.
And now, it’s Julius Reed leading them to investigate the ck Dragon Cave.
Creak.
At this moment.
The door opened.
Merrill Caldwell, dressed in a white woolen coat, stood in the doorway.
Beside her, a maid held an umbre, shielding her from the falling snow.
"I knew you wereing." Merrill Caldwell smiled: "Come in, it’s warm inside."
Julius Reed nodded, stepped in, and walked inside.
Martial Artists are not afraid of the cold.
These words "it’s warm inside" warmed the soul.
"You’vee for a reason, of course." Merrill Caldwell followed behind Julius Reed, half a step slower.
"I could sense your arrival; I was already waiting at the door ten minutes ago."
"Do you know the Hidden Gate?"
Julius Reed asked, hands sped behind his back.
He knew Merrill Caldwell wouldn’t lie and that her previous words were true.
"The Hidden Gate?" Merrill Caldwell shook her head: "I’ve never heard of it. There are many martial arts families in Kunlun Mountain, many of whom have established their own sects. Shall I arrange for someone to check it out for you?"
"No need." Julius Reed shook his head, it seemed Merrill Caldwell knew nothing about these matters.
Which means the Hidden Gate’s headquarters is secretly set up here, unnoticed by anyone.
"Are there any abandoned buildings here?" Julius Reed paused and nced around.
The Caldwell Family’s estate isrge, with some unused or abandoned buildings that could potentially be utilized.
Previously, when listening to Lucien Radcliffe’s thoughts, nothing else was heard, just a vague coordinate.
"No, every building in the Caldwell Family has its use; there are absolutely no abandoned ones." Merrill Caldwell shook her head firmly.
"What? Do you suspect the Hidden Gate is secretly hiding within our Caldwell Family?" She seemed a bit surprised.
"That seems unlikely. Our family has so many martial artists, and my abilities aren’t weak now. If someone were here under our noses, we would have found them long ago."
Upon hearing this, Julius Reed took a deep breath, frowning as he thought.
"Nothing above ground? Then maybe it’s underground." Shadow Kims gave Julius Reed a nudge: "Do you remember the Dusty tform?"
"Underground? If they really hollowed out the ground, so many martial artists couldn’t have missed it." Julius Reed mused, shaking his head.
"Now that you mention it, I remembered something." Merrill Caldwell suddenly patted her head and pointed to a well not far away: "That ce was originally where our family used to imprison traitors. Later the Family Head abolished this rule but ordered the well to be filled and no one to approach."
"That is not a well."
It was a dpidated little house.
Possibly due to the passage of time, the house had partially copsed, allowing one to vaguely see the well inside through broken windows.
"Let’s go take a look." Julius Reed stepped over the snow, arriving at the house in a few steps.
The snow around was very solid, showing that truly no one had visited here.
They couldn’t even clear the snow.
"Something’s not right. If this well was sealed, the snow would just keep piling up until itpletely covered the ce." Julius Reed squinted, walking around the broken house.
"Yeah, this spot used to be covered with snow. But who knows when it started to thin out, now revealing what’s inside." Merrill Caldwell agreed something was amiss, upon reflecting.
"Should we go inside for a look?" She took a step forward but was stopped by Julius Reed.
"From now on, no one from the Caldwell Family should get close to here. Shadow Kims, Hawthorne, you two stay to protect Miss Caldwell."
Having said this, Julius Reed slipped into the room.
And disappeared.
The room held a deep pit that was supposed to be filled with dirt.
But around the room, frozen soily everywhere.
After entering the room, Julius Reed jumped into the well.
As he descended, he drew the sword from his waist, embedding it into the well’s wall, slowing his fall.
This well was extremelyrge; even a person spreading their legs couldn’t touch both well walls.
The Caldwell Family had numerous members probably prompting them to make the well thisrge.
Yet nothing surrounded it; there were no signs of usage.
Soon, he was nearing the bottom of the well.
On the well wall, there were several skeletons nailed with iron nails.
And some writings.
Using the sword’s friction, Julius Reed paused above the skeletons.
Below the writings were dates.
Julius Reed nced at them; the dates were roughly a few hundred years ago.
But they weren’t precise, since they used the Caldwell family’s ancestral calendar.
But the writings above were intriguing.
’Early autumn, fetching water. Drilled a well, encountered obstacles. Sent people down, none returned. Sent more, dozens, ten teams, none survived. Elder Caldwell Moon with ten disciples explored once more. After a long while, only one returned, raving. Thus, the well was sealed, and descendants warned against re-entry. Enter, die.’
The words were simple.
But Julius Reed understood why the well was sealed back then.
Below, there were strange things.
And these skeletons ahead were likely the deceased from back then.
Nailed here to warn future generations.
Julius Reed released his hold on the swords and directly plummeted.
Now sure of something below, there was no need to hesitate.
In approximately seven or eight seconds, hended.
The surroundings were silent, nothing around.
Before him, only darkness.
Julius Reed turned back, prehending the situation.
During the well’s construction, they inadvertently encountered a pre-existing structure.
And when they identally uncovered this construction, the people who descended got lost within.
No one ever returned.
Following the well further inside, he walked about a few hundred meters until he heard voices.
Julius Reed hurriedly hid.
"Did you hear? The renowned White Emperor, and the Chiyou Emperor, areing to our ck Dragon Cave today."
"I’ve known for a long time, they said Chiyou Emperor was in but revived not long ago, that’s someone from over five thousand years ago."
"Hurry, it’s about to start. If we’rete, it’s a matter of life and death. Remember grandma’s situation?"
As they walked and talked, their voices gradually faded.
Julius Reed emerged from the darkness and followed behind them.
