Chapter 1501: Tool Man

Chapter 1501: Chapter 1501: Tool Man

    City Lord’s Mansion.

    Deep into the quiet night.

Three-quarters of the guards originally stationed here had already been reassigned.

The remaining ones had to manage both the barracks holding major criminals and patrol the vast courtyard, leaving them overwhelmed.

The elite forces were gone, and those left were rather feeble.

Isabe Warm stood by the window, staring at the bright moon in the sky, her eyes glistening with moisture.

Once, the Holy Lord had shared drinks with her under the moonlight.

    Discussing philosophy, speaking of immortality.

Talking about how a thousand years is but a fleeting speck in the ocean.

"The moon shining over the sea brings tears to pearls..." A single tear fell from Isabe’s eye.

    Love—it clouds one’s mind.

"I betrayed my ancestors, betrayed my heritage, and recklessly fell in love with you. Sometimes, I wonder, is it all worth it?"

Isabe whispered to herself, her bitterughter relentless.

    Pain!

She felt a sharp ache in her heart!

"Before unlocking your memories, I’d rather die than reveal myself." Isabe shut the window and spun around abruptly!

    "Who’s there!"

    Behind her.

Without her noticing, a man was now standing there.

"Such a heartfelt confession," the man said mockingly. "If the Holy Lord knew about this, would he make you his concubine? Or perhaps, shall I ry the message for you?"

"This is the City Lord’s Mansion!" Isabe brandished the Wandering Dragon in her hand—the Night Vein’s prized weapon, the assassin’s tool!

"The City Lord’s Mansion? So? The City Lord is likely dead by now. And look—this vast courtyard, is there anyone around anymore?"

The man spoke slowly from the darkness.

"Who are you? What happened to the City Lord!" Isabe’s heart raced with rm.

    Initially.

Her mind had been calm, her actions meticulous.

Keeping Devlin at her side was only a means to uncover the method to break the Sealing Pulse.

Yet outwardly, she still needed to act as though her aim was to kill the Holy Lord and assist Pendleton in overthrowing its tyranny!

Even with such a dangerous man by her side, Isabe navigated it easily without fear.

But ever since that phone call from the Holy Lord, her heart had been thrown into chaos.

A chaotic heart leads to irrationality.

So much so that someone managed to sneak into her chamber unnoticed.

"The City Lord? Devlin lured the City Lord to Swimming City; by now, he’s likely killed him. Then, he orchestrated a diversion to bring me here to assassinate you next. Finally, he’ll seize Swimming City and be the Vein Holder of the Sealing Pulse. How’s that for a plot twist?"

"That’s entirely in character for him." Isabe’s momentary shock quickly gave way to fury!

No matter what, Ian Jorden was her subordinate!

"First, I’ll kill you. Then, I’ll kill Devlin! And if anything has happened to the City Lord, I’ll obliterate your families to thest!" Isabe’s figure shed explosively as the Wandering Dragon reappeared in her hand!

    ng!

In the darkness, a spark of fire shed!

The spear glided like a dragon, striking the short sword and knocking it away!

"You couldn’t defeat me before, and now you’re even weaker!" Andrew twirled the spear furiously, thrusting it straight at Isabe!

    "It’s you!"

When Isabe caught sight of Andrew’s face, her heart filled with surprise!

But there was no time for contemtion—the tip of the spear was already headed for her chest!

    The Wandering Dragon mmed down!

    Deflecting the spear’s trajectory!

    Boom!

The wall was sted through, leaving arge hole!

Isabe pushed the window open and leapt out!

"Trying to escape? You won’t get away!" Andrew followed closely behind, his spear smashing down!

    ng!

Isabe blocked the strike with the Wandering Dragon, staggering slightly, her stance unsteady.

She was powerful, but against Andrew, the unparalleled War God, she was no match!

"You can’t escape, Isabe! I’ll use your head as an offering to the Alliance Hierarch! And then, I’ll step over your corpse to ascend to the throne of the Hierarch myself!" Andrewughed maniacally, his spear lunging forward like a dragon!

Ever since the deaths of the two major stewards, Andrew had been confident in bing the next Alliance Hierarch!

Now, all hecked was a trophy—a head!

The spear pierced the air with such force that blood seeped from the corner of Isabe’s mouth.

"No one escapes my spear!" Andrew gave her no time to breathe; his spear lunged again!

Isabe dodged frantically, resisting with great difficulty!

    Three strikes in quick session!

When the fourth strike came, she had no room to dodge!

    No!

    She couldn’t die yet!

But the tip of the spear was mere inches from her throat!

    ng!

    At the critical moment!

A paper fan flew out, colliding with the tip of the spear!

The trajectory shifted, the strike missed.

    "Who’s there!" Andrew’s brows furrowed.

Few could deflect his spear—who dared intervene to save Isabe?

Isabe’s mind was nk as well!

    Still alive?

    Was this the Holy Lord?

Who else woulde to her rescue?

"A grown man bullying a young woman—you don’t feel any shame?"

    A voice came from above.

    And then!

    In the courtyard!

    A shadowy figure appeared!

In the blink of an eye!

The shadow was in front of Andrew!

    Boom!

The spear tore through the air!

Shattering a b of frozen ice!

"Not bad—impressive talent," enor Wood said, waving the white paper fan in her hand, smiling as she gazed at Andrew. "Quite the skill."

    "And you are...?"

    Andrew hesitated to act immediately.

From that single encounter, he had sensed this stranger’s strength.

"Sealing Pulse," enor Wood replied casually. "You’re with Pendleton—this is nothing more than a misunderstanding."

"Oh, so you’re a Sealing Pulse elder!" Andrew said respectfully, though inwardly he was skeptical.

    Sealing Pulse?

Devlin was associated with the Sealing Pulse!

If you’re one of them, why act against Devlin’s ns?

"Then again," enor Wood said indifferently, "the woman behind you, though of the Bead Pulse, sought to assassinate the Alliance Hierarch. Doesn’t that make her our enemy?"

"An Alliance Hierarch is disposable. If he dies, a new one takes his ce," enor Wood remarked impatiently. "If anything, you should thank her; without her attempt, you wouldn’t have had the opportunity to kill him and take his position."

"Pure nder!" Andrew’s face darkened, though he forced calmness. "I serve the Hierarch faithfully—heaven and earth bear witness!"

"Witness my ass!" enor Wood eyed him coldly, shaking her head. "Such ruthless ambition at such a young age. I was watching when you killed the Hierarch. Or should I apany you back to Pendleton for a confrontation?"

    "Lies!"

Andrew suddenly stabbed forward with his spear!

    ng!

enor Wood unfolded her white paper fan, deflecting the spear tip effortlessly!

"If you daremit the act, you should dare admit to it. As one of the Seven Veins, you bring disgrace to us all," enor said as she snapped the paper fan shut!

Her right hand grabbed the spear firmly!

    Crack!

Ice rapidly spread along its length!

    Crash!

Andrew jerked the spear violently, shattering the ice instantly!

    Then!

He leapt high into the air and brought the spear down with full force!

    Boom!

Before enor Wood, an ice shield materialized out of nowhere!

The spear shattered the ice shield, sending shards of snow flying!

    ng! ng! ng!

Andrew spun the spear; the snowkes hit its shaft, sounding like metal shing!

    Thud!

    Without hesitation!

Andrew swept the spear sideways, disappearing in an instant.

Outside, the City Lord’s mansion guards had heard themotion and were already rushing over.

    The opportunity was gone.

And the mysterious figure before him—Andrew didn’t have absolute confidence in defeating them.

"Don’t thank me; this was the Holy Lord’s will." After Andrew’s departure, enor Wood turned to the stunned Isabe Warm: "He instructed me to capture you."
