Chapter 1486: Chapter 1486 Devlin’s Secret
“Who have you decided to kill first?”
rio Young sat amidst a pile of scrap, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, speaking coldly: “If you kill one person first, the others will inevitably be alert. By then, the difficulty will be much higher.”
“It doesn’t matter who. They’re all the same.” Hagan Marsh lightly ran his fingers over the de and said faintly: “Once I target someone, they don’t survive.”
After speaking, he continued sharpening the de.
It was a small knife.
Twenty centimeters long, ck as midnight, with a skull emblem etched into the hilt.
“Including the City Lord, there are seven individuals holding power. I suggest killing the City Lord first; it will make your takeover easier.” rio Young flicked his cigarette butt away and stared directly at Hagan Marsh.
He had changed his attire, and the junkyard was already shut down.
Earlier that morning, Marquis, the garbage collector, had died.
Now, he was rio Young.
“No rush, one step at a time.” Hagan Marsh seemed satisfied with the de’s sharpness, slowly stood up, and said, “My master has arrived.”
“Oh?” rio Young was startled at first, thenughed, “No wonder you’re so confident.”
“But you…” Hagan Marsh turned around and stared at him: “I heard that the deposed Lord of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance has been rather intimate with your sister, and they might even have a child. I wonder, do you still feel confident?”
ording to rio Young’s n, Gabriel Young’s death was the best catalyst for inciting a war among the six great families!
“This former Lord is said to have defeated the divine monks of the West Sea and the demonic taoists of the East Sea in session. His strength is certainly formidable!”
Hagan Marsh sheathed his de and chuckled as he raised his head, “With my master leading my fellow disciples down the mountain, wouldn’t that be a p in your face?”
“If Gabriel Young can’t be killed, I can kill Ambrose Young,” rio Young responded coldly as he stood: “The death of my Young Family’s scion would stir no less impact than that woman.”
Hagan Marsh froze briefly, then said, “A tiger doesn’t eat its cubs.”
“I am a dragon!” rio Young’s face darkened: “Great ambitions require sacrifices! Years ago, I feigned my death and even killed my mother—what does it matter today?”
“Power is a monstrous flood; it truly devours one’s soul.” Hagan Marsh chuckled and shook his head: “But I like it. If not for you, I wouldn’t know how much longer I’d have to linger in Swimming City.”
Silence.
The two stared at each other for ten minutes.
Hagan Marsh pped his hands loudly and said, “Come out!”
Squeak.
The rusty iron door creaked open.
A masked man in a ck trench coat and ck leather gloves slowly stepped inside.
“Did you leak the n?” rio Young froze, immediately reaching for the hidden weapon box at his waist, aiming it at Hagan Marsh: “I hate those who leak information.”
“Mr. Young, no need to lose your temper.” Hagan Marsh showed no fear, slowly walked up to him, and pressed hard on the hidden weapon box with his right hand.
“Let me introduce you: This is Prince Bradley, from Bead Pulse. And there’s more—when the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance Lord founded Seven Clouds Academy, Prince Bradley was one of the original council members. Furthermore…”
Hagan Marsh turned, pulled a cigarette from rio Young’s pocket, and handed it to the masked man: “Go ahead—help our Mr. Young get to know you.”
“Thank you.” Devlin took the cigarette, lit it with a lighter without hesitation, and inserted his hands into his pockets as he spoke with the cigarette in his mouth: “I am the Vein Holder of Sealing Pulse within the Seven Veins. I once served Bead Pulse and currently work at the City Lord’s Mansion. It’s a pleasure to work together with you.”
“Sealing Pulse?” rio Young’s ancestors had participated in the founding of Pendleton, so he was well-versed with the Seven Veins.
“You’re the Vein Holder of Sealing Pulse? But I’ve heard Sealing Pulse has fallen into decline over the years, nearly disappearing. What evidence do you have?”
“Evidence?”
Devlin inhaled deeply and seemed lost in thought.
“Hey, Marquis, still collecting scrap?” Suddenly, a voice called out from outside.
rio Young’s expression darkened.
It was his neighbor in the slums, and an old customer.
The man’s name was Nash Will.
Yet today, with the junkyard closed, rio didn’t want to see anyone.
“Oh! You’ve got visitors?” When Devlin had opened the door earlier, the plump man peeked inside and immediately walked in carrying a bag.
“Selling scrap!”
The bag was heavy, though it only contained stic bottles filled with water.
Exploiting the naive—it was habitual work.
Marquis could no longer listen, but out of habit, Nash kept talking.
“We’re nning to assassinate the City Lord.” Devlin exhaled a plume of smoke as he leisurely approached Nash, smiling: “Not just the City Lord—all six other power-wielders will die tonight!”
“What! You…what did you say?” Nash froze.
This had to be lunacy.
“I said, we’re going to assassinate the City Lord.” Devlin casually pulled out a hidden weapon box and pressed it against Nash’s head.
“No…no…I’m just here to sell scrap, you carry on…you carry on…” Nash’s face turned pale.
“Don’t rush.”
Bang!
Devlin’s left hand suddenly produced a silver needle that he pped into Nash’s head.
The panicked man instantly went silent.
“Take this. Point it at your own mouth and press.” Devlin handed the hidden weapon box to Nash.
“Alright! Alright!”
Nash, eyes vacant, mechanically took the weapon box, put its nozzle in his mouth, and grinned as he pulled the trigger.
Swoosh!
Blood sttered!
The hidden weapon box, along with the corpse, fell to the ground.
“Brilliant!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Hagan Marsh couldn’t help but apud: “Sealing Pulse is truly remarkable!”
“Well? Mr. Young, do you believe me now?” Devlin bent down, picked up the hidden weapon box, wiped the blood off, and reattached it to his waist.
“Indeed, you’re from Sealing Pulse.” rio Young nodded; Nash had been his neighbor and couldn’t possibly bepromised.
Such silver-needle acupoint techniques were exclusive to Vein Holders.
Outside Sealing Pulse, even someone as formidable as enor Wood was unqualified to learn them.
There was no faking it.
“With Mr. Devlin’s help, we’ll be unstoppable! Still, I wonder—what’s in it for Mr. Devlin?” rio Young fixed his gaze tightly on Devlin’s masked face.
Yet, to no avail.
That ck mask revealed nothing.
“What I desire has no relevance to you both.” Devlin extended a hand: “Could I have another? These cigarettes are excellent—I haven’t smoked something this good in ages.”
“Take them.” rio Young pulled out an entire pack and handed it to Devlin: “As long as Mr. Devlin remains forthright, forget cigarettes—I’d gift you an entire tobo factory.”
“Thanks.” Devlin retrieved another cigarette, put it to his mouth: “My life’s purpose boils down to three goals. First, to kill Granny Xihua, the leader of Thunderpeak Hall.”
“I’ll handle that for you.” Hagan Marsh patted the de at his waist.
“Second, to annihte every descendant of Pendleton.” Devlin exhaled a cloud of smoke.
“I might be able to help with that.” rio Young thought for a moment and nodded.
“Third, to live long enough to finish reading Jesse River’s ‘The Dragon Lord’s Comeback.''” Devlin flicked the ash off his cigarette: “That’s my mission in life.”
Of course, the third was a lie.
This was something he could never reveal to anyone.
For Devlin, his life’s true purpose revolved around this third goal.
He wanted to alter the memories of those imprisoned beneath Demarco Mount.
He sought to tame those monsters!
He desired to be the ruler of this world!
Only he knew—
The seven weapons were far more than mere keys…
Seven weapons plus the Divine Dragon Tripodprised the secret to unlocking the prison.
Seven weaponsbined with a single person, and rumors of an eighth weapon—would result in…
“Heh.” Devlin dropped his cigarette to the floor and crushed it with his heel.
Years ago, the Lord had ced him in Seven Clouds Academy precisely to seek out that eighth weapon.
But no one knew that Devlin had already found the weapon and deciphered its inscriptions.
“Once my true face is revealed, even the heavens will tremble.”
