Chapter 832: Chapter 491: The Hand of the Spirit_2
Logan raised his eyebrows as he saw Snow Wood, waiting for her to speak first.
“Thank you for today’s events.”
Snow Wood knew that Logan didn’t have the strength to fight, and she was only able to win against him with the help of better Magical Treasures. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, she was still grateful to Logan.
Logan didn’t think too much about it and asked subconsciously.
“No need to thank me. It was rightfully yours. With my physical strength, I couldn’t havested until the end of the inner-battle anyway. That Inheritance suits you better. Go and cultivate it well. I hope to see you be a stronger person next time.”
Snow Wood was stunned. She remembered that thispetition’s rewards had not been announced to the public, so how did Logan know it suited her better?
“You already know what the reward for the first ce is?”
Logan nodded as if it were a matter of course.
“Of course, the Inheritance of the fire attribute Powerhouse.”
Just as Logan finished speaking, he realized he might have overlooked a detail.
That detail was that the reward for first ce in thepetition had only been discussed with him by the old man Neen, and the officials had not announced it publicly.
Sure enough, the next second was met with silence from both parties. Logan scratched his head, unsure of how to exin that he knew about thepetition’s reward in advance.
However, it was not the foremost thought in Snow Wood’s mind. Instead, a warm current surged in her heart. If Logan had known all along, did it mean he had intentionally let her win the first ce during thepetition?
Just as Logan was saying goodbye and preparing to leave, Snow Wood called out to stop him.
“Regardless, I should thank you for today. If there is a chance in the future, I will surely repay you.”
Logan smiled, not ying coy, and straightforwardly epted.
“Alright, let’s say you owe me a Favor then.”
After leaving the vicinity of the organizer’s Pce, on his way back to the City Lord’s Mansion, Logan could indeed feel someone stealthily following him.
The City Lord had said there was something urgent, so he had hurriedly left after thepetition’s conclusion, leaving Logan to return alone.
As Logan sensed the strength of those sneaking behind him, he inwardly pondered the usefulness of the broken Spirit Stone given to him by Daoist Qing Yan.
While he was contemting, he heard a voice in front of him.
“Hey, kid, my brothers and I staked all our wealth on you today. I didn’t expect you to let us down like that. But you must have quite a bit of money on you, right? Hand it over for us to spend, and we’ll let you off this time.”
The leader had a ruffian’s air, clutching a knife as if ready to rob a street thug.
Logan did indeed have Spirit Stones on him, but he had no intention of giving them to the ruffians before him.
“And what if I say I won’t give them to you? What will you do then?”
No sooner had Logan spoken than the lead thug’splexion changed. He narrowed his eyes menacingly. The sound from behind hinted at two more men with knives, blocking his path of retreat, clearly intending to corner him.
Unperturbed, Logan took out the broken Spirit Stone given to him by Daoist Qing Yan.
The moment that broken Spirit Stone appeared before them, the three thugs’ expressions changed.
Though not real thugs in the true sense, they were aware of Daoist Qing Yan’s territory. The stone was as revered as the man himself—if found offending the bearer of the stone, anyone from the city or elsewhere would undoubtedly seek retribution.
Immediately, the three of them cowered, stowing their knives away and stering their faces with smiles as they spoke to Logan.
“Gentlemen, please don’t stoop to our level. We didn’t mean to bet all our fortunes on your attaining first ce, only to lose everything.”
No matter how the trio feigned poverty, Logan paid them no mind. Yet, he found it interesting that the stone from Daoist Qing Yan seemed tomand respect from them, wondering how it worked.
A man with his hair tied up and dressed in a blue robe looked at Logan with resentment.
“Why! It was this kid who won second ce! How can someone from the mere Saint Seat Second Levelpare to my brother!”
The man’s eyes were filled with jealousy and hatred, primarily because he really didn’t feel that Logan was strong at all, and if there was no time to draw the array, it would be easy for him to die at the hands of an ordinary cultivator.
“No, Dad, don’t stop me, I must go find him and take good care of you. How could such a good-for-nothing be able to take second ce!”
The man he called Dad furrowed his brows tightly, looking at his son with a feeling of disappointment. If only his son’sbative spirit could be applied to the proper path of cultivation, his strength would be at least twice what it was now.
Logan was unaware that he had inexplicably drawn the hatred of many people, but even if he had known, he would not have backed down; after all, as long as it was not the Saint Emperor, he believed he had the strength to fight.
Logan quickly returned to the City Lord’s Mansion, and no one dared to trouble him along the way.
It’s not that there wasn’t anyone who tried, it’s just that those who did were sent away by Logan using that broken Spirit Stone.
Outside the City Lord’s Mansion, Logan could see that people were bustling about, as if they were nning for some major event.
Pushing the door open, the people inside the City Lord’s Mansion were very happy to see Logan, mainly because they too had heard about Logan securing the second ce and bringing arge pile of Spirit Stones back for the mansion, and they rejoiced at the news.
But there was an even more important matter at the City Lord’s Mansion right now, so they only briefly apologized to Logan before hurrying back to their own tasks.
Curiosity rose in Logan’s heart, so he casually grabbed a servant to ask.
“What’s going on here? Could it possibly be rted to the City Lord’s hurried return to handle some business?”
The servant nodded, seemed like he wanted to say something but sighed deeply without boration.

Logan grew even more curious.
“What is it, may you tell me?”
Initially expecting the servant to inform him, Logan saw the servant’s troubled look and quickly bowed his head.
“I think you’d better ask the City Lord directly, as he knows far more clearly.”
Logan did not trouble the servant further, nodding his head before returning to his room.
He had intended to go out and inquire about the urgent matter with the City Lord, but as he looked toward the window, he saw someone was already waiting for him there.
Neen held a jar of aged wine in his hand, utterly unconcerned with his appearance, one leg casually draped over the windowsill while the other dangled in mid-air.
“Kid, I’ve been waiting for you here for a long time. You’ve finally deigned to return.”
Although Logan had anticipated that Neen was a man with vast divine skills, he didn’t expect him to be able to enter and leave the City Lord’s Mansion unnoticed and to precisely find his residence.
“Do you know what’s happening at the City Lord’s Mansiontely?”
Neen casually brushed his salt-and-pepper hair, chuckled twice while lifting his head, then raised the jar in his hand and took a couple of swigs.
“Of course I know, but I suggest it’s better for you not to get involved in this matter.”
Logan did not understand, nor did he know what this matter that Neen referred to was about.
He waited quietly for Neen to speak first, but Neen seemed as if he didn’t see his expectant gaze and just continued to drink on the windowsill by himself.
After a while, Logan bowed his head first.
“I respectfully request that you speak openly, senior. Whatever it is, I owe the City Lord a favor, and if it is within my capability, I am determined to help.”
Logan’s words came from the heart; upon hearing them, Neen did not burst intoughter but rather frowned slightly in disapproval.
“Sometimes being too sentimental isn’t a good thing. The opportunity I am giving you will open in the next few days, and if you insist on dealing with this matter, you’ll miss that chance.”
What kind of opportunity needed a specific few days to present itself? Could it be the Secret Land previously unknown to others?
Logan didn’t rashly agree but knelt halfway, bowed his head, and implored once more.
“I respectfully request that you speak clearly, senior. Once this matter is resolved, I will certainly follow your arrangements.”
