Chapter 15 Broken promise
Soon enough, the eyes of everyone in the room fell upon Baron.
“Mr. Connor, there’s no need to concern yourself with this piece of trash. We can deal with him after
you sign this agreement!” Henry urged, sensing the shift in the atmosphere.
“I’m not signing shit!”
Connor tore the contract in two, pointed at Baron and raged, “I’d wanted to save tracking you down for
today; I’ming down hard on your entire n. That’ll teach you to mess with Connor Johnson.”
After receiving Baron’s kick yesterday, Connor - along with all the men he’d summoned - had been
single-handedly beaten ck and blue by Charles. He’d been nning his revenge, but he didn’t think
an opportunity woulde so soon.
“What? You insulted Mr. Connor Johnson himself? You insufferable sack of garbage!”
Shocked, Phillip hurried to rify boundaries. “Mr. Connor, sir, this brat isn’t part of the Perry n. He’s
not rted to us at all.”
“Up yours, motherfucker!”
Connor punched him across the face. “Where’s ‘Granddad’e from, then? You must be lunatics,
trying to cut them off now to get back on our good side. Don’t even dream of it!”
Tracy had heard about the events at the kindergarten from Yurist night and knew that Baron hadid
hands on Connor, but she never could have imagined the two would meet again so soon, much less on
such an important asion.”
Even Henry himself was beginning to panic, hurriedlying to the fore. “Mr. Connor, this bastard
really doesn’t have anything to do with the Perry n. Just give the word, and I’ll expel them right here
and now. Please, reconsider our coboration!”
“Look at what your trash husband’s done now, Tracy. Insulting Mr. Connor Johnson himself! The gall!”
“It’s like I said, that wretched household of hers brings nothing but disaster. They almost destroyed the
Perry n five years ago, and now they’re trying to sabotage us again.”
“Mr. Chairman, let’s exile the lot of them right here, right now!”
Just like that, the entire meeting room was now brimming with hostility against Baron and Tracy,
threatening to erupt at any moment.
Originally seething, most of Connor’s anger abated as he drank in the contempt levied against Baron
Owen.
He shot a thoughtful look at Baron, then said, “It’s not that we can’t coborate going forward. But - I
want this kid on his knees, begging.”
As thatst sentence dropped from Connor’s lips, a brief sh of murderous intent zed to life in
Baron’s eyes.
Upon hearing Connor’s words, Henry did not hesitate for an instant, turning to Baron as he barked,
“Well, gutter mongrel? Make like the dog you are and kneel! Kneel and beg for Mr. Connor Johnson to
forgive the Perry n!”
Baron simply stood there, back perfectly straight as his wintry gaze fell on Henry. Coldly, he spoke.
“You don’t even know the half of what happened between me and him, yet you would have me kneel
before him and beg?
“You keep repeating over and over that I have nothing to do with the Perry n, so how is it my
problem if he’s not letting your n off?
“Not one of you has the right tomand me, Baron Owen, to kneel!”
In that instant, Baron stood tall by his lonesome, his entire being emanating an aura of true strength.
Standing closest to him, a slight tremor ran through Tracy’s heart as she bore witness to Baron’s
disy of power. He really had changed in five years.
“Impudent scum!”
Shuddering with fury from Baron’s speech, it took a good while for Henry to spit out those words.
At that moment, a man in a sleek suit barged into the meeting room, reporting urgently - “Mr. Chairman,
Camel of the Brone Group is here!”
‘The Brone Group?” Henry gaped.
A middle-aged man strode into the room - Camel, general manager of the Bronepany, Cona
branch.
“We had no idea you’d being here in person, Mr. Camel - a thousand apologies for failing to greet
you properly!” Henry stepped forward, bowing slightly, his attitude one ofplete submission.
Connor was taken aback as well. He hadn’t expected toe across Camel himself while meeting with
the Perry n. He stepped forward as well, reaching out with both hands as he said in buttery tones,
“Mr. Camel, how do you do. I am Connor Johnson of the Johnson n, and my father is…”
Camel chuckled coldly. “The Johnson n? What’s that supposed to be?”
The words left everyone in the room stunned. The nk expression on Connor’s face was about to rise
into anger, but, all of a sudden, he remembered one line of advice from his father - “The Brone Group is
the property of the elite Owen n of Donas, and when you put us up against the Owen n, the
Johnson n ain’t shit! So don’t, for the love of all that’s holy, make trouble for anyone who has
anything to do with the Brone Group.”
With that in mind, Connor forced his resentment back down his gullet.
“Problem?”
Camel shot Connor a pointed look.
nching, Connor shook his head in a panic. “Mr. Camel, sir, you’re absolutely right, the Johnson n

is shitpared to you, no, less than shit. No need to lower yourself to my level, sir.”
His entire body was already soaked through with cold sweat.
Even if Camel was only a general manager of a Bronepany branch, he was still involved with the
Owen n, and that meant he was untouchable.
Camel scoffed and left it at that.
With a jerk of his eyes, one of his followers - a middle-aged man with gold-rimmed spectacles - bustled
forward, produced a contract, andid it before Henry.
“What’s this?”
Confused, Henry took one look at the title of the contract. Shock registered across his face.
Without giving anything away, Camel spared a nomittal nce at Baron, then looked at Mr. Perry
with the hints of a smile on his lips. “I was greatly moved by the sincerity of yourpany’s Tracy
Perry. She waited outside our offices for an entire day just to meet with me. I would be remiss to turn
her from our door at this point. I’ve already signed this agreement. All that remains for it to take effect is
your signature, Chairman Perry.”
Moved by Tracy Perry’s sincerity?
How was that possible?
Everyone in the room was simrly stunned, including Tracy herself.
Her mind churning, Tracy recalled what Yuri had said yesterday, that she would take care of the
coboration business. Could this all be her doing?
The n members moring for the expulsion of Tracy Perry and her family now fell silent. Their
stares towards her had all changed.
Especially Phillip, who was utterly stupefied.
He’d long been trying to get in contact with the Bronepany leadership, but he hadn’t gotten so
much as a peep in return.
With his mission aplished, Camel left just as swiftly as he’d arrived.
Connor Johnson, who had been prattling on about how he’de down on the Perry n, slunk away
as well.
“I have an announcement to make!”
Henry Perry said, his gaze sweeping the room.
There was sheer excitement on everyone’s faces. Being able to coborate with the Brone Group
meant a glorious future for the Perry n, and it was entirely probable that they would find themselves
rising to the elite upper ss of Cona by the end of the year.
Tracy’s own heart was pounding as well, and she clenched her hands tight.
In the regr meeting just two days ago, Henry Perry had promised with his own words that whoever
secured coboration with the Brone Group would receive the seat of Samho Chairman. Now that she
had secured the contract, Henry was surely about to announce her ascension.
The rest of the people in the room looked upon Tracy with envy.
“I’d expect as much out of the gifted daughter of the Perry n. She even managed to secure a
contract with the Brone Group.”
“If we make it into the ranks of the elites this year, it’ll be Tracy who deserves the most credit.”
“Keep it up, Tracy, from now on, I’ll cooperate with you all the way.”
Before Camel’s arrival, everyone had been baying for Tracy Perry’s banishment. Now, their faces
changed entirely as, one by one, they pledged loyalty to her, each greasier than thest.
At that moment, Henry Perry suddenly spoke. “From this day forth, Phillip Perry is the Chairman of the
Samho Group, with full authority over coborative affairs with the Brone Group. The rest of you,
support him to the best of your ability.”
Nobody could have predicted Mr. Perry’s decision, not even Phillip Perry himself. After a brief lull, he
rose, euphoric. “Thank you for your trust, Granddad. Rest easy, I won’t let you down!”
“Right, dismissed!”
Henry rose to leave, without once mentioning the promise he’d made two days ago.
“Granddad!”
Dismayed, Tracy chased after him. “Granddad, didn’t you say that whoever managed to secure the
contract with the Bronepany would get to take over as Chairman of Samho? Why is Phillip the one
to take that seat? I can’t ept this!”
