Chapter 717 Pearce
Seeing the dead bodies around and feeling disgusted due to the smell of blood in the air, Rohan made
up his mind to leave Mount QL forever.
Here in the mountains, though there was little possibility for the appearance of tigers, beasts such as
wolves and ck bears could still be seen asionally, and the smell of blood would soon draw them
here to the shelter.
Rohan stood up, while a sudden strong sense of dizziness made him stumble. The next second, he
was attacked by drastic heartache, feeling that his heart was about to explode.
It seemed that his death was approaching. Rohan felt that all his strength was taken away from the
inside by something invisible and vomited blood unceasingly. All these things happened to him so
overwhelmingly that he couldn''t keep his stance anymore, fell down to the ground and never stood up
again.
Soon after, wolves in the distance sensed the smell of blood and started to howl and grope for the
source. Later, they found the bodies of Rohan and his men were everywhere and found no dangers
around. With a howl of the leader wolf, the whole pack of wolfs rushed to the bulk of the bodies, eating
their raw fresh and drinking their blood.
Looking at Victoria who was still in astonishment and confusion, Maximilian gently stroked one side of
her smooth and soft cheeks to remind her of that all was over, "Hey, what''s in your mind, sweetie? Still
wondering how I drive them off, aren''t you?"
The touch of Maximilian brought Victoria back to reality. Shyly, she gave a nk look to Maximilian and
then embraced him.
Maximilian then put his hand back on the waist of hisdy as before, chatting,ughing and heading
deep into the mountain with her. After a few rounds of searching, they failed to find any so-called
panacea, and then left under the urge of Victoria.
It was the moment when they went back to the entrance of the mountain that they saw Pearce walking
back and forth ahead. Maximilian became cautious to see him still hanging around here, and stepped
towards him to check his intention.
Seeing that it was Maximilian who was walking down the mountain from not far away, Pearce took a
collective breath and said to him, "Thank god! You guyse back safe and sound! I was almost about
to call the cops just now!"
"What? Have you been waiting for us here after our seperation? For what?" Asked Maximilian
confusingly.
Pearce scratched his head and smelled awkwardly, "Nothing, I''m just worrying about you two. I heard
from the guys who got their asses kicked that they would call Rohan and ask him to take care of you
two. I don''t want to see any of you die of it, and that''s why I am here." He had been on tenterhooks
worrying about the safety of two strangers.
At that moment, Maximilian could see the glittering kindness and simplicity of Pearce whose
appearance was not good though.
"I just want to express my sincere gratitude for everything you have done for us," Said Maximilian.
"It''s my pleasure! Hey, I guess you guys are definitely hungry now. How abouting with me back to
my home and tasting some local chicken for dinner? You guys will certainly like it!"
''Such a good man.'' Maximilian told to himself and wondered how to return the favor. Atst, he decided
to ept the invitation and was going to check further Pearce''s personality on the dinner table. If he
was exactly the same as he was acting like, Maximilian would then hand over a portion of shares of
medicine purchase to Pearce in return of the Topyuan Group.
Maximilian then said to Pearce, "Sounds good. But wait a second, I need to call up the other two of my
friends. They are in the vige and will go with us tonight." He then gave a call to Flora, made clear his
location and asked her and Canaan toe.
A momentter, Flora came huffily together with Canaan. She said with a little bit of anger to
Maximilian, "Why you just leave us behind ande here without telling us? I thought that you and
Victoria were lost!"
Maximilian stepped forwards and poked her bugling cheek and chuckled, "We have just been on the
mountain previously. I left you two behind because I didn’t want you two to get hurt. Hey, tell me
something about hanging around with Canaan on the street."
"Canaan is just azy-bone, and he brought me no where except a tea house sitting! You''d better take
me with you to the mountain next time!" Said Flora.
"Fine, fine, I will take you with me next time... Now it''s time to have dinner. Please lead the way,
Pearce." Maximilian mumbled and turned to Pearce.
Looking at Maximilian with envy, Pearce nodded and led them to his home.
The style of Pearce''s living ce was generally old-fashioned with only a single-storey brick house
being something of thest century and a shabby, old backyard.
Inside the house was a skinny woman, who was obviously Pearce’s wife.
"This is my wife, Ava. Hey, Ava, go inside and bring out the dishes." Pearce slightly raised his head and
said to his wife.

Ava gave a simple response, gave a shy glimpse to Maximilian and the others and brought out the
dinner from the kitchen.
It was such an agrestic dinner. On the table, there was a big pot of stewed chicken with potatoes,
carrots and other wild herbs inside, a bowl of thick porridge, a pan of steamed bread and a dish of
pickled vegetables.
Pearce scratched his head and said to his guests, "Homely food with good taste! Please help
yourselves. And excuse me, I have to go into the bedroom and feed my mom."
Ava stopped Pearce and whispered, "You stay here, and I will go instead."
"I don''t want you to bear the rage of my mom, dear. Take it easy and stay here, and I will go." Pearce
pressed his wife on her seat and went into the bedroom with a bowl of porridge and a pan of dishes in
his hands.
Curiously, Maximilian asked Ava, "What happened to your mother-inw?"
Ava sighed, "That''s a long story. My mother inw has been paralysed and has been bad-tempered
since years ago. From then on, she insisted that Pearce should feed her every meal, and she will crash
the bowl and verbally insult me if I do. Therefore, for years, it’s Pearce who fed her."
Maximilian slightly nodded his head, and thought that Pearce was a reliable man. At least he was kind,
earnest and of filial piety, taking care of his mother who was locked in sickbed.
After a while, Pearce came back with an empty bowl and pan in his hands, and said delightedly, "I''m
back. My mom seemed very happy to know we had guests tonight so she had a much better appetite
today!"
Before Pearce''s words ended, a door creaky was heard outside of the house.
