Chapter 585.2: In the Name of the Kingmaker (2)

No one, with the exception of the giant deviant, paid any heed to the rain at the very start, but as the rain started to build up, its effects began to show.
The footsteps of the charging soldiers grew heavier under the massive downpour, as pain seeped into their impassioned war cries. The physically weaker deviant priests copsed as groups. Those who were still holding on tried all sorts of ways to protect themselves from the rain in a panic.
But nothing could obstruct the raining death, just like a natural cmity. The deviants who had their life force robbed from them cried pitifully.
Upon realizing the situation, the sword-bearing deviant roared in anger.
The Origin Level 1 Race Sovereign released a tremendous surge of life force in an attempt to neutralize the effects of the raining death. At the same time, it drew the greatsword it carried on its back and charged toward where Roel was.
In the face of this pressing threat, Roel pressed his palms together and released a st of frost aura and pale yellow wind in a single breath, hoping to stop the sword-bearing deviant’s attack. However, the Race Sovereign overcame his attack in an unbelievable manner.
Killing intent reminiscent of blood flowed from the sword-bearing deviant, transforming into a tangible surge of energy that influenced the world around it. Its eyes glowed brilliantly crimson before its speed suddenly surged. Like a blood-red arrow, it dashed right through the falling rain, moving at a speed so fast that neither the frost nor the wind could halt its advancement.
It took a mere instant for the two-meter-tall Race Sovereign to appear before him. It swung its greatsword down with a berserker’s roar.
“Gror!”
Overwhelming might that could split the sky and earth mixed with rampaging mana generated a force so strong that, for a moment, Roel saw his surroundings turnpletely dark, with only a single blood-red line in sight. Even the Magician King’s attack was nothingpared to this.
This showed just how powerful the deviants’ Race Sovereigns were.
Even so, Roel didn’t back down at all. Quietly seething in his right hand were the mes he had been continuously gathering andpressing all this while, and he released them in a single burst. A cross-shaped me red, and the roaringva manifested as an unstoppable zing fist that erupted toward the falling blood-red sh.
Boom!
The massive explosion arising from the sh covered Roel’s field of vision.
The sheer shockwave rebounded the raining death back to the sky, sting a circr hole into the dense congregation of dark clouds in the sky.
Roel felt intense pain shooting up his right arm all the way to his shoulder. It was a deep cut that reached into the bone, spanning the length of his arm. Sttered blood dyed his cheek crimson.
On the other hand, the sword-bearing deviant was sent flying by the terrifying fist that carried the momentum of an erupting volcano, nding far in the distance. With half of its body torched, the Race Sovereign furiously roared in pain amidst the death rain.
As if to take its ce, the three-armed giant deviant charged at Roel next.
In the midst of its earth-trembling charge, the giant deviant’s body grew evenrger as its scales further thickened. Its three massive arms twitched as they dimly glowed with mana. Now that it no longer had to protect the Deviant Sovereign, it was finally able to exert its full strength.
A suffocating pressure crushed down on the battlefield.
After a brief run to build up its momentum, the giant deviant leaped into the air, its humongous body resembling a whale rising from the sea. Its three massive fists smashed downward at the same time, their overwhelming strength and speed producing a sonic boom that sted away everything in the vicinity.
The three massive fists were flung from different trajectories, but they shared the same final destination—Roel.
It took only an instant for this powerful attack to reach its target. With hardly any time to react, Roel could only confront it face-on and trade injury for injury.
A flood of frost aura andva surged out of Roel’s hands with explosive might. With no regard for the deepceration he had sustained on his right arm, he firmly held the two fists that hadnded first at bay. Unfortunately, he was unable to do the same for the third arm, so he could only manifest his pale yellow wind barrier.
A scheming smile crept onto the giant deviant’s face, and Roel soon learned the reason behind that.
As it turned out, the giant deviant had predicted Roel’s reaction and chosen to concentrate far more mana on its third arm, imbuing it with a force that surpassed thebined force of the first two fists. The first two fists were only feints, whereas the third fist was the true attack!
With Roel’s hands tied down, this critical attack wouldnd heavier on its target. That was also what the giant deviant was after.
“Grar!”
The third arm plummeted like a fallinget, with the sheer wind resistance producing intense heat waves. Roel’s pale yellow wind barrier, which was weak at dealing with physical attacks, couldn’t withstand its might and shatteredyer afteryer.
Tempest Caller’s winds furiously battered on the giant deviant’s thick scales, siphoning away the force harnessed inside the third fist through the senescence of time. However, that was hardly enough at all. Within an instant, the fist had already arrived right before Roel.
At that critical moment, Roel narrowed his eyes. With a roar, he decisively gave up on defending his nks and instead channeled all of his frost aura andva toward the sky, swiftly enveloping the giant deviant.
Kaboom!
A deafening collision ensued.
The powerful impact sent Roel flying backward, his feet dragging out a hundred-meter-long trail across the desert. His body was bleeding profusely from the collision. Simrly, the giant deviant, engulfed in ice and mes, crashed into the sand, and a resounding explosion followed.
Thest-moment decision from Roel had allowed him to sessfully block the giant deviant’s third fist, but in the process of doing so, he ended up leaving his nks defenseless against the other party’s first two fists. Although those were only intended as feints, they shattered a good half of his bones.
Unimaginable pain instantaneously assaulted him, nearly robbing him of his consciousness.
Simrly, the giant deviant also roared in pain. The sharp temperature change between the ice and theva shattered its prided scales, and nearly half of its third arm was reduced to a lump of meat.
Cough!
That mutually assured destruction of a sh caused Roel to cough out blood, and he found himself hardly able to move at all. However, the enemy wasn’t giving him any time to rest.
Before he knew it, a pitch-ck shadow had already covered his body.
The winged deviant, which had transformed into a monstrous bird, dove in through the hole in the dark clouds produced by the earlier shes. Intense lightning crackled all over its body as it swooped down on Roel at its fastest possible speed.
It was the fastest one among the three Race Sovereigns, as well as the fastest enemy Roel had encountered to date. In a sh of light, the winged deviant’s ws were already right before him. By then, it was already toote for him to deploy his wind barrier.
Yet, it was also this precarious situation he was in that triggered his tenacity and rage, and they manifested in the form of billowing killing intent.
In that split moment that was almost too short for him to even process, his body released ayer of blood mist that instantaneously transformed into a concentrated surge of mana. This influx of energy ignited his Crown’s Stones like a bomb.
The winged deviant paled in fright upon noticing the changes in its target’s condition.
This was a gamble.
If the winged deviant chose to back off, Roel would be able to halt his attack. But if the winged deviant insisted on going through with its assault, Roel would deplete all of his blood to stimte the Crown’s Stones and bring down the enemy together with him.
Boom!
In the final instant before the sh, the winged deviant finally sumbed to the intimidation of Roel’s insane, all-out attack and desperately retreated. However, it was already toote for it to escape unscathed.
The explosion of me, ice, and wind, further empowered by Roel’s blood tribute, sted off half of the Race Sovereign’s wings, and its ws were encased in permafrost.
Within a minute since themencement of the battle, Roel had already sustained grievous injuries that made it hard for him to remain on his feet. His desperate retaliation, however, had also inflicted unprecedented damage on the three Race Sovereigns.
None of the three Race Sovereigns dared to confront him anymore. They stood fearfully a distance away, not daring to confront the ck-haired man who stood alone at the center of the desert. Momentster, they came to the same decision.
Wuuu!
With the sounding of war horns, the Race Sovereigns ordered their thousands of elites who had survived the death rain to charge at Roel.
