Chapter 8

Wilbur frowned. “Come on. I’m not the bad guy here.”

“You’re as bad as one can get! I know what you’re up to!” The girl cried out in rage.

Wilbur sighed, and Benjamin spoke up at that moment, “Leave us alone.”

The girl was indignant but ended up stomping out while holding back her tears.

Benjamin turned to look at Wilbur. “That’s my granddaughter, Susie. She’s still young. Please don’t

    mind her.”

“That’s alright. Why do you have so much trust in me, Mister Grayson?” Wilbur asked.

Benjamin smiled. “I’m in my seventies, and I’ve seen a lot. There is a lot left unknown in the world out

there, and I know I’m too old to find out what they are. However, I do believe that there are things I

don’t know of. More importantly, anyone dying would want a chance to live on. I’m no exception.”

“That’s very honest of you. Let’s begin, then,” Wilbur said with a smile.

Benjamin smiled, stripping off his shirt to reveal a torso covered in scars.

There were more than ten scars from knife wounds alone and a few more from bullets. There wasn’t a

single part of his body that was intact. It was a terrifying sight.

Wilbur sighed and remarked, “You’ve worked really hard.”

“Oh, it’s nothing. I was just making a living as a poor man too. I’m not as great as that kid makes me

out to be,” Benjamin said nonchntly.

Wilbur smiled. He ced a palm onto Benjamin’s back and slowly channeled a wave of spirit energy

    into his body.

Wilbur then guided the spirit energy around Benjamin’s body carefully. “Remember this energy path

and do the same in the future.”

    Benjamin nodded, and Wilbur continued.

After the energy had traveled thirty-six rounds, Wilbur slowly removed his hands.

Just then, Benjamin let out a deep breath. His expression changed into one of shock.

He could feel that his breathing waspletely smooth, devoid of the dull underlying feeling from

before. On top of that, he felt lighter overall as well, as if all of his cells were revitalized with vigor.

He slowly got up and bowed deeply to Wilbur. “You are a miracle worker.”

Wilbur hurried to help him up. “Please don’t say that.”

Benjamin sat down again, feeling impressed and shocked. “You’re a miracle worker. I can’t believe I

lived long enough to witness a miracle myself.”

“Mister Grayson, can you ask for a pen and paper? I’ll write down the cultivation method for you.”

Benjamin waved his hand, and a servant showed up at once with a pen and paper in tow.

Wilbur contemted for a moment before he doodled on the paper.

A whileter, he said, “This is a simplified version of the beginner’s Dragon Chant that I cultivated.

Follow this, and you’ll be immune to all diseases and live a long life.”

“Thank you so much, young man.” Benjamin stared at the paper as if he had juste across a

    priceless treasure.

Just then, Wilbur got to his feet. “I’ll be on my way.”

Benjamin hurried to get dressed and sent Wilbur out. He asked for Wilbur’s number before reluctantly

    parting ways.

At the same time, Susie came downstairs and stared at her grandfather with bloodshot eyes.

Benjamin ignored her. “Send my finest tea and wine to Uncle Wilbur at house number eighteen.

    Remember to thank him.”

“Grandpa, are you still believing this scammer?” Susie could not help but shout.

Benjamin, too, was angered. “Would I not know if he was a scammer? You’ll go when I tell you to, or

you can piss off back to medical school and get out of my sight.”

Susie was close to tears from her indignance but did not dare to say much after seeing how angry her

grandfather was. All she could do was prepare what she was told to and have the servants bring it to

    the car.

The tea and wine were gifts from Susie’s parents and some of Benjamin’s subordinates. They were

both rare treasures that were difficult toe by, costing at least a few hundred thousand dors.

Susie could hardly contain her anger upon thinking that they were all going to that scammer.

Nevertheless, she still drove to house number eighteen. She did not get out of the car. Instead, she

took out her phone and made a call.

A whileter, the call connected, and Susie said, “Dad, pleasee home. Grandpa’s losing his mind.”

“What’s going on?” A deep voice could be heard from the phone.

Susie said, “Grandpa’s been scammed by a young man iming to be able to heal him. Grandpa

totally believed him and even told me to send him gifts.”

There was a brief silence on the other end before her father responded, “Do as your Grandpa said. I’ll

come home and sort this out as soon as possible.”

“Got it, Dad. Hurry up.” Susie ended the call. Her expression was ice-cold as she got out of the car and

    rang the doorbell.

Wilbur opened the door. Seeing her, he asked, “Is something the matter?”

Susie did not say anything in response. She took the tea and wine out of the car, ced them in front

of Wilbur, and said, “I know what you’re up to. You better watch out. Someone’s going toe get

    you.”

Wilbur was stunned for a moment before replying with a smile, “Anytime.”

“Hmph!” Susie ignored him and turned around to drive away.

On her way home, Susie could hardly contain her sadness.

She realized that her grandfather was starting to act like any other old person, willing to believe

anything just to live a little longer. How different was he from any old geezer who resorted to buying

    fake medicine?

Their family had a team of personal doctors and the top medical team in Seechertown to support them.

How could her grandfather believe all that nonsense? He was really losing his mind.

After arriving home, Susie was just about to get out of the car when another car stopped in front of her.

A middle-ageddy got out. Susie saw who it was and scrambled to get out of the car to wee her.

“Doctor Sepia! What are you doing here?” Susie asked warmly.

Doctor Sepia nced at her and smiled. “Susie, you came just in time.”

As she spoke, she handed a box of medicine to Susie. “The medical team just invented a new

medicine that can prolong one’s lifespan and improve their immune system. It’s brilliant. It was just sent

to ourb. Hurry up and let Mister Grayson ingest it.”

“Really?” Susie was overjoyed as she took the medicine.

Doctor Sepia smiled. “Of course. Well, I won’t disrupt Mister Grayson’s day, then. Goodbye.”

“Bye!” Susie sent Doctor Sepia off, then entered the house in high spirits as she made her way to her

    grandfather’s room.

“Grandpa, the Seechertown medical team just invented this new medicine. You should take one

quickly. Doctor Sepia sent them over personally.”

Benjamin nced at the medicine briefly. “Put it over there.”

“No, I want to see you take it, “Susie said.

Benjamin grew impatient. “I’ll take it. Just get out.”

Susie pursed her lips but did as she was told.

Benjamin nced at the medicine once, then threw it into his shoe cab while shaking his head.

“Pills, pills, and more pills. They’re going to kill me one day.”

After saying that, he began to meditate using the chant.

    Meanwhile, on the other end…

Wilbur took the tea and wine into the house happily and opened it to take a look.

‘Oh my, these are all high-end products, the kind that money can’t buy!’ Wilbur thought to himself.

Wilbur smiled. “I’ll be helping myself then, Mister Grayson.”

He put the gifts aside and began to cultivate. It was not until evening that he slowly opened his eyes.

Upon opening his mouth, he spat out a white ribbon aura.

Just then, his phone started ringing. Surprised, Wilbur picked up and answered, “Miss Yvonne, what’s

    the matter?”

“Wilbur, I’ve got good news for you. Try not to get too emotional, though,” Yvonne’s overjoyed voice

could be heard from the phone.
